"I'm sorry Dear. we have no more space to recruit part-time workers for now." The manager said. Elsa bit the inside of her cheek, thinking of another option. she had so much hope leaving home this morning, and this was the fourth job she was been rejected in just 5 hours of finding a job at the riverside.
"Uncle, I could work full-time if you agree to add something more to the pay," she called informally, hoping he'd give her a job.
"We have enough workers and we wouldn't be needing to hire anymore for the while." the man replied. The man had already made up his mind and there was no way she could convince him more so she gave up. "Ok, Sir." She bowed to the man before leaving the factory warehouse.
Outside the factory, there was a Black BMW car with tinted glass from front to back. It had been there for a while, watching the girl who was hunting for a job around the area.
"Boss, Where should we go now?" asked the driver, he turned his head to look directly at his boss.
"Order the rest of them to follow behind, and Incase she tries to run away, she should be surrounded from all sides." the man at the back ordered.
Still, on her way back home, Elsa turned to the her back and found two cars following her. At first, she thought they were after her, but on second thought, possibly, she was just imagining things, they were going on their way, she thought. Why would anyone ever want to follow her? She was poor and would be meaningless to them.
She hurried to the side of the road so as not to hinder the cars' movement and waddled further, kicking some more stones like they were the cause of her family's difficulties.
"Boss, we have been following her since morning, don't you think we should approach her and know if she agrees to our request rather than stalk her all day?" Persia inquired.
Nevan was silent, his hand was placed under his temples and he was in deep thoughts.
He was still trying to make up his mind if he wanted to do this even though it was his mother's wish.
"Boss," Persia called again to gain his attention.
"Block her from all sides," he ordered and the message was passed to the other drivers of the other cars too.
Nevan's car drifted so fast and come to stop in front of her.
Elsa who was half-conscious of herself got frightened on seeing the ambush, she wondered if running back to the factory was the best choice, she was quick to decide.
Elsa quickly turned back, wanting to jolt away when she saw another car, soon more cars appeared on the scene and she was surrounded.
She believed it was the loan sharks. they would take her away this time, no doubt. She still hadn't gathered the money to settle these people, no one wanted to hire her service.
The doors of the cars opened and a group of men in black appeared with pistols hanging on their hips and a few had theirs in their hands.
They surrounded her and soon make their way in between, A huge figure appeared from behind, he had the appearance of a 3D demigod.
His hair- A natural black Raven color which was tied in a loosed ruffled bun and had a few loose strands falling on the side of his face. He had Hazel eyes with a set of round spectacles settling at the bridge of his broad nose. His lips were positioned in a thin line, with a cigarette hanging from it.
The brown leather jacket he wore over his broad shoulders had so much fur on the neckline and also the lower part of the sleeves, His plaid scarf which was wrapped around his neck was tied so that the ruffles perfectly filled the space left open by his coat.
Aside from the color of his coat, his shirt, and trouser along with the boot he wore were all black.
His personality screamed of prominence. The man had an enigmatic look, every step he took made her heart beat faster, she felt like melting on the spot. Nevan come to stand a foot away from her, his hands settled in his pants' pocket, his eyes were fixated on her non-stop, he stared at her for a while, taking time to check out his so-called mate. there was nothing extraordinary about her, non that he had seen.
When she tries to break eye contact, he leaned closer to her, taking in her scent, and letting his wolf instinct confirm the girl. there was a fading scent of her wolf in her, and by the looks, she wouldn't know about the existence of her wolf just as the pack witch had said, she looked average.
"Bring her with you Persia," he ordered and turned away, going back to his car, leaving her to stand amid the bunch of bodyguards.
His Beta, which was his best friend, Persia came forward along with some other men.
"This way Miss," he said, leading her to one of the cars. They hadn't introduced themselves, Elsa was more confused now, what did they want from her?
She did not move from her spot, standing still and shivering, her father's nemesis finally caught up with her and these people would take her to pay the debt.
His hand supported her back and he compelled her to tag along till she entered the car and they drove off. she was quiet the whole time, bead-like sweat forming on her forehead. all the men in the car had guns with them, including the driver and there was no escape.
*******
"I've observed you for more than a month now and I know almost every single detail about you," Nevan stated. he pivoted around the room, searching for nothing in particular.
"Why would you follow me? Who are you?" she asked, drifting back when he stepped closer.
"First of all, I am not the leader of the loan shark," he said teasingly, chuckling.
"I have a job for you, It's good to pay, you were looking for one right?" he inquired.
She was silent. There was something about him that made her lose her confidence. it seized her speech.
"Miss Henderson, we've taken time to prepare a great offer and I hope you won't reject it," said Nevan's Beta. they even knew her surname, incredible, she thought.
Persia brought a document, placing it in front of her and Nevan went back to his seat which was placed in the middle of the room with yet another cigarette in his mouth and he playfully tossed the lighter in his hand.
She couldn't help but wonder how addicted he was to this thing, it was the third one he had lit since the time she arrived and he blew them off fast.
She left the paper untouched.
Persia opened the brown leather bag which was on the table in the middle of the room, the one which she noticed a few seconds after she came into the room with him.
He pulled out a bundle of cash and dropped it in front of her, pushing it so close that she felt like drooling at the sum, but he wasn't done. He drew out another handful of bundles, topping the first ones.
"This my dear, This is what you'll get if you agree to take on our offer," said Nevan.
Even though she needed so much money, it didn't mean she'd be so greedy to accept without knowing what they wanted from her. It was almost impossible for anyone to earn such an amount legally, not in this modern day where life was becoming more harsh to the paupers.
"I did not tell you I wanted a job, how come you followed me around, that's-" she muttered the last word, "That's the weirdest thing I've seen." but he picked her word quickly, he smirked.
Nevan leaned closer, he thought so low of the humans, they were nothing but greedy, always have and will be.
But after hearing her reject so much money which they were willing to pay her right now, he thought she was a bit interesting and wanted to hear more from her, perhaps it was a pretence scheme so no one figures out how cheap she is. The poor always did that, disgusting. He thought.
Persia opened his mouth to try and convince her again but Nevan gestured to stop him, he wanted to speak himself.
"You did not bother to ask what the deal was but you bluntly rejected it? I know your father owes so much money, and that was why his finger got chopped off... I also know about the deal the loanshark proposed to him about taking one of his daughters which they would proceed to do soon and since you can't pay back, you'll just have to watch them take either you or your sister. even after knowing all these, yet you reject so much money?"
"What's your deal then?"
"I want to have a child with you," he spoke sternly, not batting an eyelid.
She blinked multiple times, Trying to read a simpler meaning to his words even though the words were simple enough to understand.
Her subconscious mind had warned her earlier about this weird man and now it was proven, that he was a freak, a psycho! she'd heard about these sort of men, perverted men with no morals, she never knew some of them were handsome as this one.
"What do you say?" Nevan asked, his voice pulling her out from her deep thoughts.
"Why would you want a child with me?" she asked.
"You're in no position to ask, but since you did, let me tell you why. I want to raise an heir, is that too much to ask from you?" he gave an obvious answer.
"I'd advise you to go for another girl who would be able to buy your story. It still lacks logic." She stood up wanting to leave. To her, their conversation was meaningless and it meant it was over.
His request was the most unreasonable she'd ever heard, how could he want a child with a woman he just met?
His offer looked fraudulent.
"I'm not done talking, and it would be rude to leave midway," he said. And for the first time since she first saw him, a smile appeared on his face, exposing his white set of teeth, and it did not look honest in the slightest.
"You work in a small seafood restaurant downtown, and some other job you're engaged in, seeing something which is a win-win situation for you, you dared to reject? ridiculous girl," he muttered.
"I don't want your insane offer. why would I want to give you a child? other women would be willing to do this not me. Find yourself someone else."
"And I'm giving you three days to think about my offer,I have picked you to be the mother of my child and no one else."
"If you want any more modifications in the contract, Persia can handle that, but you're not permitted to reject, you'd be risking your family's life. I am more dangerous than the group. note that." He said, more like he was threatening her.
Nevan signaled Persia to take the girl out of his sight, he was feeling worked up, having to persuade a teenager like herself was so much work to put up with. he wondered why the moon goddess would give him a weak and dormant girl as his mate, one who is naive and also stupid. he had so much on his mind and also the curse, he would turn 25 in less than a Year and therefore he needed to act fast if he wants the next Alpha of their pack, the 'Crescent Blood Moon' to come off his offspring.
