Chapter 7 She had a deeper plan beyond Draconia!

"Why the heck are they all staring at us?" Damien muttered as he parked his black Ferrari in front of Lyka's house.

"Aren't you used to always being the center of attention? Pray that they don't recognize you, or else tomorrow's headline in the newspaper will be about your visit here, Aether Damien Darkstorm," she sarcastically remarked.

He gave her a condescending look.

"The Ferrari attracts too much attention in the Costa Rica, Mr. Darkstorm," Lina, who was beside him, commented softly.

Lyka quickly got out of the car to escape the scrutiny. She knew he wouldn't step out of the vehicle because he was fiercely protective of his privacy, to the point where he wouldn't even exit the car even if someone pointed a cannon at him.

She noticed that their nosy neighbors had gathered and couldn't contain their curiosity as they gawked at her and the car that brought her. It made her feel dizzy. She didn't expect Damien to suddenly get out of the car. The attention of the people around intensified, fueled by the whispers circulating.

"Let's get you inside," she heard Damien say.

"No, I don't want to!" she protested. "We can manage on our own. Leave!"

He furrowed his brow. Instead of leaving, he unexpectedly scooped her up and carried her into the house. It stirred something deep within her heart. She tried to fight the tightening in her chest. She knew it was all just a facade, and she wouldn't fall into his trap again. "You really don't know how to listen to others, do you?"

"No, because I'm used to having my way, and I get angry when people defy me!" she snapped back.

"You can't dictate to me."

"Truth is, I can."

"Damn you!"

Damien remained in the house for a few more minutes, inspecting everything. He removed the unhealthy food from the kitchen that could harm the child's health. He instructed Lina to place rubber bath mats in the bathroom to prevent accidents. He didn't agree that his child was living in this small house, but as long as it was still in Lyka's womb, he couldn't do anything but comply with her wishes.

When he returned to the living room, he found Lyka asleep on the sofa. A sharp smile emerged on Damien's lips. The she-devil looked so fragile and innocent while asleep, like a gentle lamb incapable of any wrongdoing.

But looks can be absolutely deceiving. He had learned his lessons the hard way. He trusted her beautiful face, allowed her to see his emotions, and let her awaken primal feelings that he had buried deep inside his heart for a very long time. Only to find out that like every single gold digger in town, she saw him as nothing more than a walking bank account. That was precisely why he hated her with absolute fury. His blood boiled whenever he remembered how she treated him like a mere one-night stand just to regain the house she desired. She had trampled upon his ego.

Now he wasn't sure if she intentionally got pregnant. Gold diggers like her don't get pregnant so easily. Most likely, she had a deeper plan beyond Draconia. Whatever it was, he made sure to keep a close eye on her every move.

Damien's gaze settled on the bulge in Lyka's stomach. He fought the urge to come closer and touch her baby bump.

Suddenly, Lyka stirred and tightly held his hand. He froze. He looked at her face. She was peacefully and deeply asleep. He tried to withdraw his hand, but her grip was firm, and he couldn't bring himself to take it back.
