Chapter 3 3: My Fears

Brooke's pov.

Office days are boring as I don't have any investigations or action on the field. I hate being indoors and sitting in a stuffed office.

Today is one of those days where I feel accomplished and happy after busting those disgusting cases and high-profile people.

Humans fear that animals are dangerous, but No one is more dangerous than humans, as they don't show any mercy or kindness to their own kind.

I entered my boss Kathy's office to give her the details of the case.

"Good morning, Kathy!" I greeted her and plopped down on the chair. Her head is stuffed into her MacBook.

"Truly a very Good morning, Brooke. Well done for successfully completing your mission and bringing us the content and details." She appreciates me a lot and encourages me to do more.

"Thank you, Kathy! I would have never succeeded if not for your support and encouragement." I know when to show my gratitude. When I came here to live with humans, I struggled a lot, but these humans accepted me without any doubt or questions. There are good humans too.

" Ah! I have something for you." She took something out of her drawer and handed it to me, and it was another letter from Maximus.

I threw it in the trash, not wanting to even check what was inside, as he doesn't deserve anything from me anymore. He lost me when he kicked me out of his pack and chose her.

"You have someone waiting for you too." Kathy informed me, went back to her work, and dismissed me.

Who is waiting for me? Is it Maximus? I don't think he has the time to come and meet me! But maybe he came after seeing me on the news!

I will show him what he has lost and make him regret that he will never be able to get me back. I went to my cabin and changed into one of my spare sexy dresses I keep here in case a party will be hosted or I need to go anywhere.

I pulled out a red mini dress from the bag and wore it, applied makeup, and put on a red lipstick because I wanted to feel more confident and sexy.

I checked myself in the mirror and went outside to find Maximus. A wicked smirk spread through my face, imagining the way Maximus's shocked face will be once he sees me like this, and I know for sure that he will regret it, and seeing him like that will give me immense joy.

When I entered the waiting area, I found Maximus's beta David and a five- to six-year-old kid sitting beside him eating a lollipop.

My brows pulled down in confusion when I saw David and a kid. Why did Maximus send his beta and a kid to meet me? And not him!

" Brooke! How are you?" David got up from his chair and came up to meet me with the kid in tow.

The closer the kid comes, the more I can see the resemblance to Maximus in this kid.

"I am good! What about you?" My eyes are still glued to the kid who has big innocent eyes, and they are currently on me, making me long for my daughter. No one knew that I had given birth to a baby.

When I was banished from the pack, I went to human land, as every pack refused to take me as their Alpha kicked me out and I don't have a wolf.

I struggled a lot to feed myself, but my world came crashing down when I found out that I'm pregnant and I don't have money or food to feed me and the baby. That's the day I met Kathy for the first time, and she offered me her home and a job.

Kathy had helped me a lot with my daughter.

My imagination thought it was the right time to put the images of Maximus and Annabell making love, and their product is standing in front of me looking exactly like Maximus. Is this a joke?

"I Am good too; you have changed so much." I just gave him a cold smile, as no one from the pack stopped or objected to their Alpha when he betrayed me and hurt me, and now they are standing in front of me!

"Is he Maximus's kid?" I don't want to beat around the bush.

"Yes, His name is Billie, and Maximus has asked me to take him to you." How dare he think that it's okay to send his son to me? How dare he think it's okay to hurt me again!

He slapped me without touching me by sending their kid to me to show how happy they are and how they made a baby when I lost my baby girl within the first two years of her being in this world.

Maximus and Annabell are so cruel to me, and I never think about how much it will hurt me to see them as a family when my only crime was to love Maximus and want to start a family with him.

The moon goddess has been playing a cruel joke on me as she didn't give me a wolf or a mate, and when she gave me a daughter, I thought she had shown mercy to me, but she once again showed that happiness and blessings are not in my destiny by ripping her away from me.

He killed me some when he betrayed me and chose Annabell, but now he killed me entirely by sending the kid to mock me and hurt me. But I'm not the old Brooke who will take anything people throw her way, nor will I let people walk all over me again.

I can feel the anger and resentment coursing through my veins, and I can't stop myself from bursting out in anger.

He is still trying to hurt me! What the hell did I do so wrong to him that he has been hurting me? I only remember loving him selflessly and unconditionally! If he thinks he can break me now, then he is so damn wrong about it.

I will show him who the new Brooke is, and he is going to regret ever thinking about hurting me again!
