Chapter 2 2: Brooke

Maximus's POV:

"A stunning and young Investigator has busted the human trafficking ring, which involves high-ranking people and politicians." The news report started explaining the names of some people and how the female investigator busted the ring and saved young girls and boys.

"Brooke Matthews..." My head turned towards the television so fast that I thought I had broken my neck.

There she is, on the screen, looking as gorgeous and beautiful as ever, and now she looks different, more strong, and more beautiful.

I did what was best for everyone seven years ago, and I don't regret anything if it means protecting her and the pack.

"Why are you looking at her like that?" Billie's voice startled me, and I turned around to see him with narrowed eyes.

For a six-year-old, he is so intelligent and mature.

"Nothing; I was just interested in the case." It's impossible to hide anything from Billie, as he can easily catch you in your lie.

Brooke may have made a lot of human enemies till now, as she is dealing with high-profile cases and busting their illegal money cycle.

I had sent her three letters throughout the years and stopped when she didn't write back. I am sure she didn't even open the letters, and why should she? I had hurt her so badly and kicked her out of the pack, but it had to be done with the way everything was messed up, and If I hadn't done that, then I would have lost her and everything.

Her life will be in danger if she continues with these types of cases. She had nowhere to go after I banished her from the pack other than taking refuge in human territory, as no pack would have taken her in.

Billie is writing something down in his notebook while watching television.

First, I need to talk to my beta about Brooke's safety. She needs me to save her from the enemies she has made throughout the years.

" David! I saw Brooke on television, and she is working as an investigator now and dealing with high-risk cases, and I'm sure she has Made enemies and her life is in danger." My beta David has a frown on his forehead, not understanding what I'm saying.

"Are you talking about our Brooke, Alpha?" I nodded my head at him, confirming his doubt, to which his eyes widened.

"Oh my goddess! What are we going to do now?" I also don't know how we can protect her, but I need to think about something quick as she has busted the high-risk case recently, and I'm sure she is on our radar right now.

"You are going to the human territory and give her an ultimatum to return to the pack she isn't able to reject." I don't think Brooke will be easily pursued, but we have to try at least.

I came back from my office after discussing with the pack members how Brooke is in danger and how we should help her, and they all agreed with me.

Seven years ago, it was necessary that I banished her and hurt her, but right now I can get her back here, cherish her, and show her how much I still love her.

Billie is going upstairs with his notebook in his arms. I followed him back to his room, where he was searching for Brooke and writing down everything in his notebook. Every single detail about her and every single case of hers she has dealt with

I don't think Brooke will easily accept anything we give her or tell her.

The sound of the chair scraping got my attention, and Billie went towards his closet and got out his savings jar, which he had started saving money in.

I know what he is thinking with the way he wrote everything down and took out his savings jar.

I entered Billie's room to give him a big hug for giving me a reason to bring Brooke back to the pack. Now I know what I can do to get Brooke back in the pack.

"You are the best, Billie! Thank you!" I lowered myself to his height and took him in my arms. Hugging him always makes me feel better, and most of the pack members tell me that he resembles me, and sometimes I feel the same.

"I know, right!" He winked at me, making me laugh at his antics, and left his room to go and discuss my new plan with David.

He was in my office, going through the files.

"I think I've got the best weapon to bring Brooke back to the pack." My voice startled him, as he was so deep in his work.

"You scared me there for a second, Alpha! And what might that be?" He asked, sorting out the files and sitting straight to give me his full attention.

"I am sending Billie to Brooke's, and I know she can't resist Billie, and Billie will bring her back here." He thought for a second and nodded his head.

"I think it will be the safest option, with the history you two have." I know, I was a jerk and hurt her by announcing another she-wolf as my Luna and making her believe that I cheated on her.

"Yes, and I want our men to guard Billie and Brooke 24/7, and I don't want any mistakes, David!" I warned him, I can't lose both of them.

I hope my plan works and Brooke will come back to me, forgive me for the things I did to hurt her, and start a new life with me. I regret every second of those seven years without her in my life.

She has changed so much with the way she looks unbothered and cold in the footage they showed in the news, but I know that my Brooke is still there, hiding, waiting to come out when the time comes.
