Chapter 4 Fall Of The Wesley Family

Joyce hoped he wouldn't go to work the next day as she couldn't bear to see his annoying face but unfortunately for her,he was already waiting for her in the car by the time she walk down the stairs.

The president and his female secretary arriving at work together in the same car caused an uproar different rumours spreading like wildfire.

"Your answer?", the president asked just as he reached his office.

"No", she gave a disainful flick of her hair and marched out of the room.

"You'll surely come to beg me",he laughed and picked up his cellphone."I want to see the Wesley family business shut down in the next ten minutes, any company that dares to help them is incurring my wrath, I want to see them declaring bankruptcy",he smiled mischievously.

For the next few days, Joyce was surprised that Lucas never bothered her again,everything was going on normally and smoothly just as it would have been.

On this particular evening she was about to cook dinner at home but she discovered that she had run out of soy sauce, she grab that clutch and headed to the supermarket.

As she was on her way home after buying the soy sauce she was suddenly grabbed by someone and pulled into the dark alley covering her mouth.

"It's me, it's me",her captor stuttered as he released her.

"Luke", she was surprised to see him looking unkempt and haggard.

"What happened?"she asked immediately they got to her apartment.

"It's a long story", Luke began gazing absently out of the window."two days ago father was arrested for investigation he was accused of engaging in fraudulent and indecent business dealings, the company was close down all of our assets has been freezed.father is still being detained and now mother has relapsed into a coma, I think we are being suppressed by another company and when I asked around for help ,nobody wants to help us. I had to borrow money for mums bill , I've been unable to pay back and the loan shark has been chasing me, lurking around everywhere.

"Why didn't you inform me before, besides have you offended someone as of recently?", Joyce asked.

"We haven't offended anyone, my father is an easy-going man so am I .I didn't want to trouble you ,you are all on your own trying to survive and I don't want to be a burden to you.

"You are never a burden,I'm your fiance so we're in this together, don't worry I'll figure out a way to pay ",Joyce assured hugging him" you can stay here until we figure things out".

The next day at work ,when she delivered the president coffee she asked him if she could be paid her salary in advance.

"For what,if I may ask", the president asked twirling his pen in the air

"For family emergency", she answered.

"Alright ",he replied and she smiled brightly at him before leaving the office.

"Keep an eye on her every movement ", Lucas said to his personal assistant who was standing beside him.

Later in the evening, Joyce was able to gather $95,000 from her salary and personal savings.

"You don't need to thank me, this is what I ought to do ",she smiled at Luke who stared at her with affectionate and teary eyes.

The two of them headed to the alley near Luke's rented apartment ,that was where the loan shark was waiting for them to come to with the money.

By the time they got there they were eight to ten scary looking men waiting.

"Where is the money ?",the tallest among them who seems to be the boss asked

"Here this is the money", Luke passed the bag over to him and waited and be counted the money.

"How dare you bringing incomplete money here, you really have the guts don't you do ",he bellowed angrily

"I borrowed $90000 dollars and the interest is $5000 it's complete", Luke explain immediately

"You really don't know the rules,you were supposed to say yesterday morning but you didn't so $5000 has been added to your bills" another man explain

"But I don't have it now", Luke stammered

"Beat him up" the tallest among them ordered and they all immediately brought out sticks and started beating Luke violently.

"Stop please stop, we'll pay ,please stop"Joyce cried.

"Wow ,what a beautiful lady you have here", the boss smirked moving closer to her "I'll surely let him go in exchange of a night with you".

"One more step and you'll die",a man in black suit ordered walking towards Joyce and the loan sharks.

"Lu..Lucas please help, stop them", Joyce had finally seen a savior.

"You dare to stop us, boys beat him up"the boss laughed but suddenly they were outnumbered by Lucas's guards and a battle ensued between the two groups.

"Are you hurt anywhere?", Lucas asked eyeing Joyce up and down.

"Yeah,am fine but he's not", she replied pointing to the unconscious Luke."please help me take him to the hospital".

Lucas left immediately after helping them to the hospital.luke was rushed to the emergency ward,as she stood outside the ward worriedly, she heard two men talking about the Wesley family.

She didn't meant to eavesdrop but if there was anything to help Luke and his family, she would do it without hesitation.

"The Wesley family are really done for", the first man wearing a blue shirt stated.

"Of course, I heard it's the Tiffany family that is suppressing them, of all people in the world, they just decided to offend the Tiffany family, that is asking for death", the other man whispered.

"Which Tiffany family?", the man in the blue shirt asked.

"The one and only Tiffany family of course, the Tiffany corporation", the other man replied.

"Ah, they are indeed done for then,we should stop talking about this,I don't want to be their next target", the man in the blue shirt replied warily.

"The Tiffany family... Tiffany corporation", Joyce stuttered unbelievably and immediately she ran out of the hospital, hailed a cab and headed to Lucas's mansion.

"Am sorry, without permission you can't enter", the guards at the gate refused to let her in.

"If he dares to do it, why don't he admit it,call him out,I'm not leaving here without seeing him", Joyce yelled

"Who is making such a fuss at the gate?",Lucas arrived.
