Chapter 3 Will And Always Be No

"Yes, what do you think?,on your first day at work, you spilled coffee on a confidential document, you really are professional, aren't you?",he said coldly moving closer to her with a cold gaze.

"I..I", she stuttered moving backwards warily totally frightened by his cold and chilly aura.

"It's alright,here make sure to retype these documents, words for words and it must be submitted today ',he tossed the files down in the middle of the table.

"Alright", she dared not complain, she could only curse him under her breath.

Even in her wildest imagination, she could never expect him to be her boss. Fate is indeed unpredictable. she reluctantly picked up the document that walked out of the office .

she ended up working overtime as she watched the other staff leaving the office by 6 o clock she couldn't help but cursing him. it was 7:30 by the time she got home.

The next day at work was even more hectic, at exactly 12:00 she entered the president office with the cup of coffee and some document that needed the signature.

she dropped the coffee and the files on the table waiting for him has he was on a call.he answered the call whilst looking through the documents she submitted, twirling the pen through his fingers with impressive dexterity.

"What's my schedule for today?" he asked immediately he ended the call.

"A meeting with president Hue at 1 o'clock,a visit to the construction site, an inspection at the newly-opened mall in the in the city centre and the dinner with Mr Holmes at 6:00" she replied professionally.

"Make the reservation at the restaurants and prepare the document needed for the meeting", he ordered strictly.

Fifty minutes later they arrived at the restaurant, Mr Hue was already waiting in the private room .

She remain standing beside him while you discuss about the deal.admist their conversation Mr Hue kept staring at a lustfully making her feel uncomfortable.

" Joyce Hilton", Mr Hue smiled reading her nametag "a beautiful name for a pretty woman".

"Uhh, thank you sir", Joyce replied awkwardly.

"How about this Lucas,you give her to me and the profits would be seventy: thirty instead of sixty: forty"Mr Hue suggested and she was surprised.

"Weren't they talking about business, is he really going to offer me just for a 10% gain" she thought.

An amused grin crossed Lucas lips "you sure don't know how business is done no wonder after two months your company doesn't have a good project ,I don't engage in underhand deals and I deal with serious minded people".

"You are insulting me because of the mere secretary ,you sure don't know what suits you"Mr Hue bragged.

"Do what you see fit and spare me your useless theories", Lucas replied nonchalantly."your company is on the losing side and you are the one who needs to gain a foothold but to me it's just any contract so now get lost.

"You ..you're discarding the...."

"Would you go out willingly or would you like to be escorted" Lucas interrupted coldly and Mr Hue walked out hesitantly with a grim expression.

"Let's have lunch", there's still time",he said to her calmly.

"What ab..."

"If I say there is time, then there is time ",he cut her off coldly and she had no other choice but to join him.

The two of them sat there eating in silence.

"What about what I told you?", he suddenly asked out of the blue.

Joyce choked on her food surprised by the sudden question "what was that?"she asked feigning ignorance.

"You can pretend to be ignorant but tomorrow I want an answer ,am not a patient person and besides I have thousands of ways to make you fall on your feet and crawl back to me"he stated calmly.

After lunch the both headed to the city centre to inspect the newly launched mall and later in the evening the both visited the construction site at the western side of the city.

As Lucas was discussing with the architect in charge,Joyce was jotting some important notes,he turned to her to ask a question but then he heard a whizzing sound,he looked up only to see a concrete block hurtling towards her head.

All thanks to his quick reflex,he was able to pull away but unfortunately for him he was unable to duck and the concrete block rammed into his shoulder and his white shirt was immediately stained with blood.

His guards immediately surround the entire area, after giving some orders Joyce and his chauffeur walked him to the car .

After few minutes the car pulled up at a residential estate.

"Shouldn't we go to the hospital first,why are we here ",she had worriedly.

"It's okay, the doctor is waiting for me already don't be so worried", he smiled.

When they got inside Mr Joe and the doctor was already waiting for their arrival and the doctor immediately got to work.

After some few minutes, the doctor exit the room.

"Thank goodness it was not a deep wound but he has to rest and take the medicines I prescribed and his wound must not come into contact with water and the gauze must be changed every morning and night".

"Okay doctor,thank you". Mr Joe escorted the doctor out leaving the two of them alone,she stared at her fingers and the room was filled with an awkward silence.

"Pass me the water",he ordered and she immediately passed him the water staring at his left hand which was wrapped with a gauze.

It was already past working her, to she wanted to tell him she was leaving but didn't know how to broach the topic after all he had gotten injured in her stead.

"You are not thinking of leaving are you?, am already like this because of you this little heartless creature want to leave dream on",he scoffed. She was surprised that you could tell what she was thinking about just then Mr Joe entered.

"Miss Hilton, could I trouble you to please take over and take care of the president,I would have stayed over but I have a flight to catch in the next thirty minutes due to the company related issue and it can't be cancelled".

"Alright, don't worry sir", she agreed unable to turn him down.

After eating the dinner she ordered, she help them change the gauze as advised by the doctor.

"About what I said I'll be expecting your answers tomorrow ",he suddenly called out as she was about to leave his room.

"Mr Lucas, my answer will and always be no".

"It's because of him right",he asked

"It's good that you even know that I have a fiance, even if I don't I will never stoop low,so do as you see fit",she replied as she left the room.

"Of course, I'll do as I see fit".
