Chapter 7 The scandal

POV: Alexei Kovalenko.

"What is the meaning of this impudence?" Father yelled angrily when I returned home late last night.

The dinner had been barely touched, the Darel's had left in anger, since I had arrived exceedingly late.

"Didn't Mother tell you? I had no plans to attend the dinner tonight." I said and Mother sighed.

"Where have you been, Alexei?We called your office thinking you were going to use work as your route for escaping this, but Lou said you'd left the office since 12:45pm." Mother said and I glared at her.

"I am Twenty seven years old. I don't have to report my every moement and whereabout to you." I said and Mother glared at me.

"Not when it concerns meetings like this and the company." Mother said and I sighed tiredly.

"I am tired. Exhausted. Can I at least be allowed to sleep?" I asked and Father grunted angrily.

"You ditched the meeting with the board members. Ditched the meeting with the President's son. And avoided the dinner meet with your Fiancee. We at least have rights to know your whereabouts. Where did you go, Alexei Kovalenko?!" Father yelled and I glared at him.

I can't take this. I can't do this with them any longer. I had my own house, I was only living here because Father had been ill, and he wanted me around.

But if they were going to boss me around, I wasn't going to remain in here anymore.

"Lila! Gather my things and pack them up. Put them in my car." I yelled and Lila nodded, while hurdling the maids.

"What are you doing?" Mother asked, her eyes wide.

"Leaving." I said simply and she gasped.

"Surely, you can't. You are joking right? Your Father's health-" She started saying and I banged my hands on the chair.

"Do not try to blackmail me, using Dad's health. Seeing how he can yell and get angry at me for avoiding his set up meeting, it shows he is in perfect health. There's no need to remain here." I said.

"That does not answer the question, Alexei.. Where did you go?" He asked again and I faced him.

"I hung out. With my friends. I didn't want to be like you who buried his head in only his work, and cared not about anything or anybody. So I decided to hang out with my friends. Have I answered your question?" I answered and he stomped his walking staff on the floor.

"I have wanred you that those pathetic friends of yours would be your downfall. You ditched the board meeting and the meeting with your Fiancee-" He started when I stood up angrily.

"Nicole Drel is not my Fiancee. I refuse to marry her! And I made it clear from the beginning, didn't I?" I asked and he looked at me.

"I refuse to marry just because it benefits you. I am not your slave. I am your son. And I understand that a son has to follow the biddings of his parents but not at my age. At my age, I am allowed to make my own decisions, I am allowed to choose who I want to associate with and who I want to marry. If you think you can force me into this decsions because I bear your name, then I will gladly drop it. Am I understood, Mr Kovalenko?" I said angrily and Father stared at me in surprise.

I had not been this angry, this emtional since he called the music I wrote trashed and had all my musical instruments destroyed, and mylyrics burnt to ashes.

"Young master, we have packed up your clothes, as you asked us to." Lila said and I nodded.

"Have the books and gadgets be moed to my home by tomorrow. Good night, Mother and Father." I said and walked out.

"Alexei! Alexei,son get back in here. You should stay with us." Mother said and I looked at her.

"No, I don't want to. I refuse to. You can not control me as you please,I am not your puppet." I said and she sighed in resignation.

I entered my car and drove off to my house, and entered in, the maids there, helping to unpack the things in the car.

I alid down in my bed as I thought of Mia. The slap she gave me, and her outbuest. Her eyes flashed with the anger and they looked very vicious.

But those eyes looked very familiar. I coudn't place where I had possibly seen them.

My heart went out back to her, thinkig of how I could make it up toher, without causing her to hit me against the face.

"Not everything can be solved with Money." IHer words rang loud in my ears. This statement should be preached to my parents. I wasn't trying to solve the problem, I was only trying to help her. Compenste her. Because I know how hard it was for peopleto get jobs in this country.

I sighed again. "Youg master. Your bath is reday." I heard and I sighed, and changed from my work clothes,into y long bath robe, and I walked into the bathroom.I soaked myself in a bath while my thoughts rolled around the thoughts of MIa Walters.

After my bath and a slight dinner of oatmeals with milk, I settled down in my chair in the living room, searching for Mia on Instagram.

Then I found her. She was on the profile and as I scrolled through her profile, I realised that she was a singer. Just my type of girl.

I watched her music videos.

I drifted off to sleep with the thoughts of if I was already in love with Mia Walters.

I woke up to the sound of my phone's ringtne in the morning. It was Lou,my secreatry. Seeing her call my personal line,I knew it was a matter of urgency.

"Mr Alexei, we have a problem." She said and I sat up straight. I didn't like that statement one bit, as it meant I was involved in a scandal.

"There are pctures of you kissing a strange girl on the Internet. What should be my line of action?" She asked and at first my face contorted in confusion. Then I gasped in realization.

Mia! Shehad been roped into a scandal with me, and that would spell doom for her.

My female fans, could be very dangerous,and my reckless actions had put Mia in their target net.
