Chapter 6 Susan Part 6

Today I passed so calmly, none of my classmates bothered and made fun of me. I feel that after becoming friends with Celia, I began to feel at home studying at this school.

After school, as usual, I walked hand in hand with Celia. And just like yesterday, I saw Mrs. Angie waiting not far from our class. I sighed tiredly, what more could the teacher want?

"Sorry, Celia. You can go home early, okay?"

Celia looked at me confused. "Where are you going?" she asked.

"Hm ... a bit of business."

Again I can not tell this to Celia. Uncomfortable actually, but there is no other choice but to keep it a secret. Celia didn't ask anymore. She waved as we were about to part. Staring angrily once again at Mrs. Angie, I was forced to approach her.

"Mrs. Angie, what are the results of the investigation? Are you aware of their whereabouts yet?" I asked without preamble asking the reason for waiting for me.

"It's for that reason that I'm waiting for you here, let's meet the two of them!"

Without waiting for my response, Mrs. Angie just left. I growled in annoyance, the teacher was so arbitrarily ordering me, without asking whether I was willing to come or not. In the end, I followed her.

By boarding Mrs. Angie's car, we went to a place that I didn't know at all because she didn't tell me at all.

Arriving at our destination which turned out to be a university, I again followed Mrs. Angie without a word.

Mrs. Angie walked the halls of the campus with steady steps, passing class after class as if she already knew exactly which class she was going to. She just stopped when she arrived in front of a class. Many pairs of eyes were watching us, but Mrs. Angie didn't care at all. Without hesitation, she entered the class. Mrs. Angie stopped right in front of someone who was sitting in her chair. I looked at the person, and I was very surprised when I realized it was Jessica.

"Could you come with me for a moment?"

"Who are you?" Jessica's one eyebrow raised, she looked confused.

"I'm one of the teachers at Grandes High School."

Instantly Jessica became nervous. She looked right and left as if she was worried that someone else would hear Mrs. Angie's words.

"What did you come here for? I have nothing to do with Grandes High School anymore."

"Is it true that you feel like you have nothing to do with Grandes High School anymore? Should I say it here in front of your college friends?"

Jessica widened her eyes, she rushed up from her seat. "D-don't. Alright, I'll come with you."

Jessica who looked scared walked to follow us. The steps of the three of us stopped in a fairly quiet place, behind one of the classes to be more precise.

"I'll say it straight away." Mrs. Angie said firmly. "I came here because I want you to admit what you did and surrender to the police."

"I don't understand what you're saying." Despite saying that, Jessica's face started to turn pale.

"Don't be evasive, we already know everything. You and Ann killed Susan. Almost every day you bullied Susan, you forced her to give up her money. You always tortured her if she refused. You killed her and hid her body behind the toilet wall."

Jessica widened her eyes, fear was increasingly evident on her face. "D-don't talk nonsense. I didn't do any of that." she protested, still not wanting to admit it.

"You still don't admit it after what happened to Ann and also Mr. James who worked with you to hide Susan's body."

I didn't understand what Mrs. Angie said, so I ventured to ask.

"What happened to the two of them?"

"As you can see, Leslie. Susan's ghost is always bothering them. Ann and Mr. James can no longer hold back their guilt. They are depressed. Ann is now in a mental hospital. Mr. James quit his job and went back to his hometown. I don't understand why You, who killed Susan, have survived until now."

"I never killed her!" Jessica shouted, still fighting with her tongue "Do you have proof that I'm the culprit?"

Mrs. Angie and I looked at each other, annoyed of course because Jessica still didn't want to confess.

"We don't have any proof that you did it. But Mr. James' confession will make you unable to avoid it anymore," said Angie casually. "I've contacted Mr. James, she will testify because she can't stand the terror from Susan's ghost."

Jessica gasped, her mouth no longer uttering a rebuttal. She suddenly lowered her head as if admitting defeat. "It was just an accident." She said softly.

"You should have reported it to the teacher, you were wrong to hide Susan's body behind the wall. Your actions are unforgivable."

"It's up to you what you want to say, I will never admit it even if Mr. James becomes a witness once."

Jessica walked away from us, but Mrs. Angie's words made Jessica stop her steps.

"Don't you want to find peace? I'm sure that even though you say you won't admit what you did, you're not calm and scared every day. Susan's ghost keeps on bothering you. Don't you want to live in peace without seeing Susan's ghost again?"

Jessica was silent for a few minutes, maybe she was digesting Mrs. Angie's words carefully. "I-I... I didn't mean to. I never meant to kill her. I've always envied her. She's very popular at school, and lots of boys have approached her. I just don't like her." this is what she finally admits.

"Is that why you always bully and torture her?"

"I just want her to feel the pain I feel. I hate her."

"That doesn't mean you have to hurt her like that. Every human being must have strengths and weaknesses. You should be grateful for being created perfect, haven't you seen many people who are unlucky because they were born with disabilities? You should be grateful for everything God has given you. Moreover, you were born into a well-to-do family. As for Susan, you know for a fact she's not as rich as you are."

Since earlier I have only been a good listener, secretly amazed at Mrs. Angie's wise advice.

Jessica covered her face with her palms. Sounds of sobbing echoed in the aftermath.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I don't want to see Susan's ghost again."

"Go to the police station and confess what you did."

"That means I will be thrown into prison?"

"Which do you think is better, living free but always being haunted by Susan or living peacefully in prison? Even if it was an accident, your punishment will not be too severe. The suffering you will feel in prison is only temporary. But, if you keep it a secret, you will suffer for the rest of your life. Susan's spirit will forever bother you. Let Susan's spirit rest in peace so that it will not bother you again."

"Is it true that my punishment won't be too severe?"

"Yes. Trust me!"

In the end, all of Mrs. Angie's wise advice succeeded in making Jessica aware. Because peace of life is the most important thing right? Thankfully Jessica finally realized.

The next day ...

Jessica, accompanied by Mrs. Angie and her parents, went to the police station to confess what she had done.

On the same day, many police came to Grandes High School to find Susan's body hidden behind the toilet wall. After the wall was demolished, Susan's body, which had become a skeleton, was found there. The police took her for an autopsy and later will be handed her over to the family for a proper burial.

A few days later, Susan's funeral procession was held, and Mrs. Angie and I were also there. After that, Susan's family came to the toilet where the bloody tragedy occurred. They hope to meet the ghost of Susan. Mrs. Angie and I accompanied them.

When we got to the toilet, I saw Susan's ghost again. Her appearance was completely different compared to the first time I saw her. Her face which was covered in blood now looked clean. Her beauty radiated though still pale. Those eyes that were full of hatred, were now gone. Susan's ghostly face was the same as when she was alive.

"Is Susan here?"

I nodded, responding to Mrs. Angie's question.

"We have to appease her spirit so she can go to her world. I'm going to perform a ritual, you don't disturb my concentration."

"Hmm, okay." I shifted, making space for Mrs. Angie to perform the ritual she said would calm Susan's spirit.

Mrs. Angie closed her eyes and her mouth never stopped muttering, saying something. Her voice was so low, I couldn't hear what she was saying.

Not long after that, Mrs. Angie finished the ritual. Her eyes opened again.

"Susan, all your business in this world has been completed. There is nothing else for you to worry about. The people who have hurt you, have now received the punishment they deserve. Your family already knows the truth, they have let it go. Isn't that right? Please tell me something, Susan."

Mrs. Angie said that to Susan's family who was standing not far from us. A middle-aged woman who seemed to be Susan's mother obeyed Mrs. Angie and started to make her voice.

"Susan, are you here? We've made up our minds about your departure. Go to your world. Rest in peace. There's nothing else for you to worry about, we're all fine."

A feeling of compassion welled up in my chest when I heard Susan's sobs that were so sad. Maybe I'm the only one who heard it. Tears streaming down her face, she stretched her arms forward as if she wanted to hold her mother in a hug.

"Susan is crying."

Everyone fell silent when they heard what I said. The tears didn't last long because afterward she looked at me and gave a sweet smile as if she was thanking me. Its transparent body slowly floated up high, until it finally disappeared without a trace.

"Is Susan crying?"

Susan's mother asked that with her tears flowing.

"She cried for a while, but after that, she smiled. And now she's gone." I explained the truth to them. A look of emotion immediately appeared on everyone's face.

"Good. That means she has returned to her realm. Her soul is at peace." It was Angie who said this with a relieved smile.

"On behalf of Susan's entire family, a huge thank you to both of you for helping Susan." Susan's mother said it sincerely, to which Angie immediately responded.

"No need to be shy. Glad to be of assistance. After all, it is our job as mediums."

Susan's family, which consists of her mother and sister, said goodbye. Their faces were beaming. As was the case with them, Mrs. Angie and I left the toilet too.

I learned a valuable lesson from what happened to Susan. This tragedy can happen because it is based on excessive jealousy. Jessica is jealous of Susan's beauty and popularity. Every human being must have jealousy. And the key to holding it in is not to compare yourself to others. Just be grateful for what you have, that way life will be calmer without the hassle of thinking about competing with others.

Angie and I walked hand in hand and stopped when I remembered something.

"Oh yes, Mrs. Angie. What tragedy happened here that caused this toilet to be closed?" I asked, curious.

"Hm ... in the past, every student who came to this toilet, must have been possessed. Maybe Susan's spirit wanted to ask for help. Unfortunately, no one realized what she meant. Since then, this toilet has been closed."

"Are all the students of this school aware of the tragedy?"

"Of course," Angie replied firmly. "Because the news continues to spread from mouth to mouth until all the students know about it. Besides, didn't the teachers also announce a ban on entering the toilet when you first entered this school?"

I was wide-eyed, shocked. "I never heard of it?"

"Ooh, yeah. You're a transfer student, it's only natural that you don't hear about it."

A thought crossed my mind. Based on Mrs. Angie's story, all the students knew about the tragedy, and Celia should have known about it too. Then why did she send me there even though she knew that there was a ban on entering the toilet? Various bad thoughts immediately crossed me, I quickly shook my head to get rid of these negative thoughts. I'm sure Celia forgot to tell me, there's no way she's putting me in harm's way on purpose. She is my best friend in this school. But, I guess I should confirm this and ask her directly.

"Ooh, yes. Leslie, please cooperate in the future."

At that moment my thoughts were broken, and I frowned in confusion. "W-what do you mean, Mrs?"

"That means from now on we have to work together to appease all the spirits that still haunt this school."

"W-what? I don't want to! Oh yeah, earlier you told Susan's family that we are psychics. What's the point of saying that? Only you are psychic, I'm not psychic. I'm just an ordinary student."

Mrs. Angie laughed at me. "You can see ghosts. You're just like a psychic. Anyway, please cooperate from now on!!!"

Mrs. Angie said that while flashing a meaningful smile. To be honest, I was scared and didn't agree with what she said at all. I ran as fast as I could leaving Mrs. Angie screaming...

"I DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH A GHOST AGAIN...!!!!"
