Chapter 4 Susan Part 4

Since yesterday's incident, I haven't been able to sleep well in the apartment. Somehow I feel someone is following me. Even when I was at school, I often felt cold as if there was a ghost beside me. To be honest, this feeling makes me uncomfortable.

"Leslie, you don't look well. Your face is pale."

Celia who was sitting beside me spoke thus. I wanted to tell Celia about what happened yesterday, but I was worried that she would freak out after hearing it. And what scares me the most is none other than Celia's concern that she won't be friends with me anymore after learning about my special ability. I'm happy since I became friends with Celia. Besides, for some reason, my classmates stopped bothering me ever since I became friends with Celia. I didn't want to lose Celia, so I decided to keep yesterday's incident a secret from her, of course including my abilities.

"It's okay, I just didn't get enough sleep." I was forced to lie.

"Ooh, I see. Thank goodness you're okay."

Celia was very kind, she said that while smiling gently, and immediately felt guilty as if she was stabbed in the pit of the stomach, feeling bad for lying to her.

Not long after, the bell for the end of school rang. As usual, I left the classroom with Celia. I was stunned when I saw the teacher I met yesterday in front of the haunted toilet, now standing in front of our class. What is she doing here? My question was answered already when she suddenly called me. Could it be that she was purposely waiting here to meet me? She seems to have something she wants to talk about and I'm sure this must be related to yesterday's incident. I didn't want Celia to hear our conversation, so I told her to go home first. Without suspecting anything, Celia complied. We parted and I walked over to the teacher.

"What are you looking for me for?" I asked, without preamble. She smiled broadly making a bad premonition start to dance inside my head.

"There are a few things I would like to ask you. First of all, my name is Angie Megan." She held out her right hand which I couldn't help but reply, so we shook hands for a moment.

"What would you like to ask, Mrs?" I want to go home soon, that's why I asked again.

"Since when can you see ghosts?"

I was stunned to hear this teacher's question which I just found out was called Angie. I don't understand why she asked me this.

"I-I don't understand the meaning of your question. Yesterday it was just a coincidence that I saw the ghost sighting."

"No, I know you are different, Leslie. It can be seen from your aura, you have a special ability. It seems that your ability can sense the presence of spirits."

This time I was really surprised, I didn't expect her to realize this strange ability of mine. But, how could she know?

"You don't need to be so surprised, I will tell you about my identity. I come from a family of psychics. Megan's family is known as a family of exorcist spirits. I came to this school not only to teach but also to investigate oddities in this school. "

"oddities?"

Mrs. Angie nodded.

"Yes. Don't you notice?"

I shook my head in response to Mrs. Angie's question.

"Well... I guess it's only natural that you don't notice. You've only been at this school for a few days."

"What's so strange, Mrs?"

"This school... has been known for its bullying system since 57 years ago. Bullying is common. I'm sure your class is like that too because it seems like you are also one of the victims of bullying from your classmates, right?"

"Who told you that I was a victim of bullying?" Mrs. Angie chuckled before her mouth opened to continue.

"Yesterday you were called by Mr. Zein to the teacher's room, right? I was also there when you were interrogated by him. The reason Mr. Zein didn't punish you is that we teachers already know that you are just a victim of bullying from your classmates. They set you up on purpose." Instantly I widened my eyes, surprised of course.

"Then, what is the relationship between the bullying system in this school and spirits?" I asked, not understanding.

"I believe this is due to the influence of the spirits that are in this school. You need to know that the presence of spirits affects the place they live in. Like a quiet and cold place, usually there indicates the presence of spirits. Even if you don't see them, they are capable of giving signs of existence. The school is infested with many ghosts and their presence is a bad influence on the students."

"Haah? Is that so? What's your next plan?"

"I'll drive them all out. I'm sure they are curious souls who still have unfulfilled desires, which is why their spirits haven't calmed down and can't go to their world yet."

"Is that why yesterday you went to the toilet?" Without me noticing, our conversation flowed just like that.

"Yes. The toilet is one of the places that has a very strong mystical aura. After all, the toilet is a forbidden place in this school."

"Haah...? So what?" I asked again with my eyes widened perfectly.

"Several years ago there was a tragedy there, I don't know the tragedy for sure, that's why I investigated that place yesterday."

I nodded repeatedly. "Hm ... I see. Your intentions are very noble, I support and pray that you will succeed in achieving your goals. If there is nothing more to talk about, I'll excuse you first."

Without waiting for her response, I started walking intending to go home, if only I didn't hear her calling me back.

"Where are you going?" she caught my hand, holding me back.

"Of course going home, Mrs. The bell for going home has been ringing since earlier."

"You can't go home yet, you have to help me first." I glared, I thought she was planning something because she was waiting for me in front of the class.

"Help doing what?" I asked suspiciously.

"Why do you think I'm telling you this and bothering to wait for you here if it wasn't for some reason?"

I rolled my eyes. My reaction was really rude, but what can I say, I was annoyed because she kept holding me even though I was tired and wanted to quickly go back to the apartment. "What's the plan, Mrs?" I asked lazily.

"I need your help, Leslie."

"What kind of help?" though I try to keep my tone friendly, I'm sure from the look on my suppressed annoyance, she can tell I'm annoyed with her.

"Help me find out what the ghost in the toilet wants."

"W-what? Why should I help you find out?!" My voice rose without my realizing it.

"Of course because you can see it."

"But, you're a psychic, you should be able to do it yourself. Eh... wait... don't tell me you can't see ghosts?"

Mrs. Angie gasped, her eyes rolling restlessly. Suddenly she was embarrassed.

"I-is that..." she said nervously, holding back her embarrassment. I giggled. I think it's funny that there are psychics who can't see spirits.

As if ignoring courtesy, I reflexively laughed out loud. "The psychic said, can't you see ghosts? Then how do you exorcise them, can't you just see? Very funny." and I laughed again.

"How dare you laugh at me!" Mrs. Angie growled in annoyance but was unable to stop my laughter.

"You can see ghosts so you must be able to communicate with them." She then said that this time it succeeded in making the laughter evaporate somewhere.

"That's impossible, how can I communicate with her? I'm afraid. Let alone communicating, just looking at her makes me tremble. Besides, why should we communicate with her?"

"Didn't I say earlier, they are curious spirits who still have unfulfilled desires, that's why they can't calm down and leave this world. We have to find out, that's why we have to communicate with them. Besides, yesterday you said ghosts following you, it's a sign that she has something she wants to tell you."

"But, I'm not sure I can communicate with them. Yesterday was the first time I saw a ghost sighting. It's true that since I was young I could feel their presence, but I've never seen them before."

"You can do it."

"I can't."

I don't know when our small talk turned into an argument like this. Neither of us wants to give up.

"How do you know if you don't try?" she's still trying to persuade me.

"Sorry, Mrs. I really can't do that."

Ignoring her existence, I stepped back and left Mrs. Angie, I felt that it would be dangerous to continue dealing with her.

"Don't you want to change the condition of this school? Grandes High School is where you study now. Don't you want to change the condition of this school to be the same as your old school? Don't you want to get rid of the bullying system in this school and get along with your friends? Your classmates? Aren't you tired of being bullied by your friends?"

And Mrs. Angie's series of questions have succeeded in making me wide-eyed. I stopped walking. It's true what Mrs. Angie said, I want this school to be the same as my old school. I want to be close to my classmates.

But ...

Can't deny the feeling of fear that hit me at this time. I don't have enough courage to meet let alone communicate with that scary ghost. I don't know what should I do.
