Chapter 4 Taking Bavent

Taking Bavent wasn't easy for William's company there were three Balkan tanks and six Balkan squads Brandis' helmet was shot but richochet off but after three hours of fighting and clearing buildings they finally took Bavent they lost one tank and 24 men 38 men were injured but not life threatening they captured a Balkan sgt and had to get a interpreter to translate what the POW was saying

The company was on their way to Caen to take that over and meet up with Lieutenant-General O'hare's division then on to Paris

William wrote "today is August 4 1939, Brandis got shot in the head but his helmet ricocheted the bullet it was a long struggle to take over Bavent alittle more than 3 hours of fighting and securing buildings Brandis and I were scared shitless while securing buildings we didn't know if there were any balkans hiding in any buildings and any sound spooked us

we lost one tank to an enemy tank flanking us we lost 24 men some of them I knew and 38 of them were injured some were Critical but most of them weren't I watched as one guy threw a grenade and it was shot in his hand and blew his arm off his right side was burned but died shortly after war sucks it never changes but we finally secured the town now we are gonna head out and meet up with lieutenant-General O'hare's division in Caen gotta wait till reinforcements come and garrison the town"
