Chapter 2 Boot camp private

In The barracks William was writing in his journal "today is June, 1 1939 I started basic today and it was harsh my legs, shoulders and muscles are sore my sergeant is a tough man by the name of Riess

his family is Irish and Scottish descent and he trains us hard one guy already washed out due to lack of discipline Riess fought in the Amnesty War he fought alongside my father and saved each others lives frequently but he does not treat me any different than any of the other recruits"

Later that day he ate dinner and went back to the barracks to sleep the next morning he woke up at 4 am and trained went to the shooting range and performed better than the others his training lasted two months

William was writing in his journal "today is august 1 1939, it was a rough two months we made it past basic and my buddies Miles Brandis and Joseph Mills were with me headed to the FOB base

near Normandie at Cabourg in France the French were decimated during the Amnesty war and it stayed under the control of the balkans our plane was attacked by Balkan anti air guns and we had to parachute to the FOB as it was being attacked

being armed with my .45 and my turner SMLE Brandis was armed with a Bren and his .45 while Mills was armed with his enfield sniper rifle and his .45 we had to fight and defend the LZ we lost 100 men but defended the FOB when tanks arrived we needed to take over the next town over"
