Chapter 3 The Front

William, Brandis and Mills hopped in a jeep to join the convoy headed to Bavent which was the next town over when they got three quarter's of the way to Bavent the convoy was attacked by a Balkan unit Mills was had to be pulled to safety behind the tank

William put pressure on the wound in Mills' thigh while Brandis gave covering fire William called for the unit medic private Jonah Mccallahan stopped the bleeding and put Mills on a stretcher to get him back to base the tank crews pushed back the Balkan line

After a 20 minute fight the balkans retreated and they continued on to Bavent once they got to Bavent the company commander halted and gave Williams unit an order to go into that house and clear it and head to the cafe and set up the machine gun while the tanks slowly advanced Into town

William wrote in his journal " the date is August 3 1939 Mills was shot in his thigh today as we were ambushed by a Balkan force, he's alive and back at the medical tent on base doc said he should be back in a couple weeks it was a graze Brandis freaked out for a minute thought Mills was gonna die the sgt said we were gonna take Bavent over tomorrow and that I had first watch
