Chapter 2 Can You Stay

"Ah! It hurts so much!"

As I screamed, I suddenly bent down and held my leg.

Sure enough, the doctor's words were interrupted by my reaction. He quickly looked at me and asked, "What's wrong? Does your wound hurt? How can it be? It's already treated."

"Maybe because I stood for a long time. But it's fine. We will go now. Thank you."

After saying this, I walked forward calmly.

Elliott's car was already parked in front.

I ignored the eyes of the passers-by, followed Elliott, and got in the passenger seat. He didn't even bother to help me get in, and I couldn't help feeling sad.

As soon as I fastened my seat belt, he glanced at me coldly and asked, "Is this another trick?"

"What? No. I really had a car accident..."

But before I could finish my words, Elliott interrupted me impatiently. "Don't play such a boring trick again. I don't have time to waste on you."

I shut my mouth, not wanting to argue with him. He was always like this to me, and I had gotten used to it as time went by.

Since I didn't retort anymore, Elliott stopped talking too. But he took out a document and threw it on me.

My breathing stopped for a moment. I picked it up and saw the words "Divorce Agreement" on top. My hands trembled.

"Sign it," Elliott ordered coldly. I couldn't hear any emotions in his voice.

I turned my head and looked at him. When I opened my mouth to speak, my throat was a little sore. "Your grandpa just passed away. Can't you wait to divorce me?"

Elliott met my eyes. His lips moved as if he was about to say something. However, his phone suddenly rang.

He picked it up, looked at the screen, and answered it. "Olivia, what's wrong?"

When I heard Elliott's gentle tone, I realized that his gentleness was only intended for Olivia.

I didn't know what Olivia had said on the other end of the line, but Elliott comforted her. "Okay, I'll be there soon. Don't go anywhere."

After he hung up the phone, the coldness and sternness on his face returned. He looked at me and said, "Get out."

It was an order with no room for negotiation.

I nodded stiffly, opened the door, and got out of the car. Before I could even stand steadily, Elliott's car quickly drove away.

I could only take a deep breath and exhale.

It was already dark when I arrived at the villa. The big house was so empty that I felt like it was a haunted house. I hadn't had dinner yet, but I had no appetite. Perhaps it was because of my pregnancy. I went straight to the bedroom, washed up, and went to sleep.

Before I could sleep deeply, I vaguely heard a car stop in the yard.

I wondered if Elliott was back.

But he went to accompany Olivia, right?

After a while, the bedroom door was pushed open. Elliott, drenched all over, walked to the bathroom without even looking at me. I heard the sound of the shower.

Since he was back, I couldn't go back to sleep anymore. I got up, put on my clothes, and went to the wardrobe. I took out his pajamas, put them at the bathroom door, and went to the balcony.

It was drizzling outside, and the soft sound of raindrops hitting the bricks could be heard faintly. I looked up at the dark starless sky, feeling melancholy.

I suddenly heard some noises behind me, so I turned my head. Elliott had just come out of the bathroom with a bath towel wrapped around his waist. His hair was still wet, and drops of water dripped down his muscular body. He looked so charming that it was hard not to fall for him. And I had paid a painful price for two years because of my love for him.

He must have noticed that I was looking at him. He also looked at me, frowned, and ordered, "Come here."

I walked over to him obediently. Then he threw the towel in his hand to me and said, "Wipe my hair."

Elliott was always like this to me, and I was already used to it. He sat on the edge of the bed. I climbed up, knelt behind him, and started drying his hair with the towel.

"Tomorrow is your grandpa's funeral. We need to go to his house early." I didn't mean to find a topic to chat with him. But I was afraid he would forget the funeral because he only cared about Olivia.

"I know," Elliott replied indifferently.

I knew he didn't want to talk to me, so I didn't say anything more. After drying his hair, I lay on the bed again, ready to sleep.

I always felt sleepy these days. Maybe it had something to do with my pregnancy. Normally, Elliott would go to his study after taking a shower and stay there until midnight. But tonight, for some reason, he lay on the bed after changing into his pajamas.

Although I felt strange, I didn't ask. But to my surprise, he suddenly held me in his arms and kissed me.

I was so confused that I looked up at him and said, "Elliott, I..."

"You don't want to?" His black eyes were as dark as night, cold and wild.

I lowered my eyes because I didn't want to. He just handed me the divorce agreement in the car during the day, and he went to see his mistress. Now he wanted to have sex with me. No matter how much I loved him, I couldn't accept it, not to mention that I was pregnant.

Maybe he felt disappointed when I fell silent. He let go of me, turned to the other side, and slept. My eyes remained open, and there was no trace of sleepiness in me anymore.

Suddenly, the phone on the bedside table rang.

It was Elliott's phone. I looked at the clock on the wall and found that it was already one in the morning.

The only person who would dare to call him at this time of night was Olivia. He took his phone and answered it. It seemed that he was unhappy with what Olivia had said because he snapped, "Olivia, stop it."

After saying this, he hung up, got up, and changed his clothes. He was leaving. If this was in the past, I might pretend not to see it. But now I grabbed Elliott and begged him softly, "Can you stay tonight?"

Elliott frowned. A hint of coldness and displeasure appeared on his handsome face. "It's none of your business. Don't cross the line. Do you understand?"

His words were cold and full of irony.

I was stunned for a moment. Then I couldn't help feeling amused. I looked at him and said, "Tomorrow is your grandpa's funeral. No matter how much you love her, shouldn't you know what is more important?"

"Are you threatening me?" Elliott squinted his dark eyes and suddenly grabbed my jaw. "Gianna, you are much bolder now."
