Chapter 7 Rival in Love

The seller was someone who looked sharp and had good business acumen. He said as though he was put in a difficult position, "Can't go down less than that price. The shipment fee alone cost me a lot. You have to let me make a little money."

" 8.2 million and no more."

"It's a deal!"

In the end, the short man with glasses bought the huge stone at 8.2 million yuan.

Standing next to Tommy, Brucille shook his head slightly.

Then, they moved to the next booth. Only then did Tommy ask, "What do you mean? Is that stone not worth it?"

"It's not completely worthless. It's just that he won't earn much from it."

As they were talking, a young man with an imposing appearance spoke up with ease and assurance in front of them.

"I'm Shawn Leung, the general manager of Treasurious Jewelry. I mean what I say. If you found jade inside this stone, I'm willing to pay five times more than its original price for it."

Brucille glimpsed at the stone. It was about a meter high and had a rough surface. Judging from its look, he could tell that the stone was just a scrap.

He whispered to Tommy, "It seems that Shawn has a good eye. It's indeed a piece of scrap."

Tommy looked at Brucille as if he had seen a ghost, and then asked in confusion, "Why are you speaking for your rival in love? Shawn is Monique's senior, and he often flirts with her. I didn't expect you to be so open-minded!"

Brucille's face immediately darkened. He thought, "How dare he have an eye for my wife? Is he looking for death"

He explained, "I'm just talking about the matter at hand. The quality of this stone is indeed quite poor."

Meantime, Shawn spotted Brucille in the crowd. He called Brucille with pride, "Oh, hey, Brucille. Are you trying to learn how to trade stones too? The poor can't really learn this skill, can they, Mr. Lu?"

"Shawn, don't beat about the bush. Just say it directly if you want to say something. Treasurious Jewelry indeed earns a lot from selling jade ware, but Fortune Jewelry isn't bad either. If you can afford it, so can I."

It was rare for Shawn to see Brucille. Since he got the chance now, he wouldn't give up the opportunity to humiliate Brucille.

So, he snorted, "That's just you, Tommy. I happen to know that Brucille had a car accident a few days ago, and he almost killed his own and his father-in-law's life. Not only can't he provide for the family, but he can't even be a competent driver."

"How is such a person worthy of Monique? That's hilarious. You don't deserve to be her husband, don't you realize that yet?"

Having had enough of people's bad-mouthing, Brucille retorted, "Sometimes you can tell whether a person is a good or bad guy from his words and demeanor. Did you have garlic for lunch? Because your breaths sure smelled bad!"

Tommy laughed, "Not bad, Brucille. Good joke! Come on, now let's go before the garlic smell gets to us."

Shawn's face turned ugly. He was the general manager of Treasurious Jewelry, Yet Brucille was only someone who lived off a woman.

He adjured the butler next to him, "Mark, keep an eye on them. Don't let him buy a single thing today."

Brucille was still within earshot, so he could overhear their conversation.

Taking a few steps forward, he stopped. In front of him was a round stone. It was smooth, and it shined with a faint layer of green.

He turned to talk to Tommy, "Tommy, I think this piece is pretty good. You can see that it aged well. It's like a gift from nature."

"For someone who has only studied for just a few years, you speak so elegantly. Hey boss! Tell me a price. I want this," From behind them, Shawn said in a hurry.

The seller was a middle-aged woman. Seeing the two young men arguing with each other, she knew that it was an opportunity for her to make a fortune. So, she said, "Anyone skilled in stone trading will know that this is worth at least 15 million. I won't sell any lower than that."

After hearing the price, Tommy knew that he had no chance. But Brucille said decisively, "Deal! I want it."

Shawn didn't even move his feet and said lazily, "Wait! I'll pay 18 million. I'll take it."

"20 million," Brucille continued.

"22 million."

At that, Brucille suddenly changed his mind, "Well, congratulations then, Mr. Leung. I don't want it anymore!"

Tommy's broke out in a cold sweat. If they declined the offer after negotiating, it would do harm to their integrity and ruin Fortune Jewelry's reputation.

He warned Brucille in a voice so low that only they could hear it, "Please be careful even if you are setting him up! Don't set a trap for yourself. We don't even have that much money. You're really bold to start bidding so recklessly."

"It's okay. You didn't lose anything anyway. Neither did Shawn."

Shawn knew that he didn't lose out, but there was no profit from it. He realized that Brucille was setting him up, and he felt even more displeased.

After successfully setting Shawn up, Brucille walked another few more steps forward before stopping again. He took a glance at a few raw stones at the booth, and he was shocked. There was already a crowd around the booth.

Tommy had seen it too. He turned to Brucille and commented, "Brucille, this looks extraordinary. It must be expensive."

Tommy had been following Brucille closely and learned a little about identifying valuable raw stones. The stone in front of them was dark, but it had energy around it. It seemed legit.

Shawn's eyes were also fixed on the piece. It was definitely a good piece of material. If he could get it, Treasurious Jewelry would make a satisfactory profit.

Brucille agreed with Tommy. He pointed at the sharp edges of the stone and said, "Look, you can see the jade from underneath. If you just crack it a little, you'll know whether it's a good stone or not. Too bad we don't have enough money. Or else, we'll make a lot of it from this stone alone."

Hearing this, Shawn straightened his back and walked over, "What did I just say? Only the rich can afford this kind of stuff. Brucille, you'd better go home and contribute to the Chng family. Maybe you can do the house chores for them."

Meantime, the short middle-aged man had already raised the price of the stone to 47 million. Shawn joined the bidding halfway through the process, and he called for 52 million.

Brucille reminded him, "Shawn, I know you really want to get this stone. But this man is obviously more wealthy than you or Treasurious Jewelry. You can't beat him."

"What a joke! You don't even know how financially resourceful Treasurious Jewelry is."

Therefore, the two kept bidding until the price hit 90 million, and Brucille managed to persuade the other party to let it go.

At the next moment, Brucille turned around and sneered, "Mr. Leung, since you've bought such a valuable stone, why don't you cut it open now so that everyone here can celebrate along?"

"Well then, look closely, countryfolk! I'll show you what is the real deal of stone trading!"

The seller of the 90 million stone was professional. He quickly cut the stone open. Everyone was anxious to know how much Treasurious Jewelry would earn from the trading.

"Th-There's green!"

"Oh no, it's a fake..."

The seller's voice was exceptionally loud. Losing his mind and position, Shawn shrieked, "How is this possible? It's such a large piece of stone!"

"Mr. Leung, I've only cut the outer layer. Should I cut the rest of it?"

The stone was worth tens of millions, Shawn wouldn't have given up on it so easily. So, he answered without hesitation, "Of course, cut it! I'd like to see where the jade is hidden."

He was sure that there would at least be a piece of jade hidden in such a huge stone. Yet, the reality was that he ended up with a pile of worthless stones, which had no other use other than repairing roads.
