Chapter 2 The Unfavored Son-In-Law

Brucille went closer to Tyrion, and he saw that Tyrion indeed wasn't in good condition. He had a high chance of heart failure.

But Tyrion was doing better after Henric did a few chest compressions. Truth be told, Henric had deliberately exaggerated Tyrion's condition earlier in order to show off himself and leave a good impression on Sabrina.

Since Brucille caused Tyrion to be in danger, Henric thought that if he had saved Tyrion, there would be a higher chance of things going smoothly between him and Monique.

A while later, Tyrion's condition improved, and Henric told Sabrina, "Don't worry, Mrs. Ching. Mr. Ching is doing better now. I'll send him to the observation room!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the medical monitor near Tyrion rang in a blaring beep again. Henric was shocked and galloped back to resuscitate Tyrion right in the wardroom once more.

At that moment, Brucille speeded to the frontline, and he swiftly inserted a silver needle into Tyrion.

Henric yelled at Brucille when he saw that, "Are you out of your f*cking mind! Mr. Ching is in this state all because of you! Are you still trying to kill him?"

"No, I only gave him an acupuncture, which will help him recover faster."

Brucille was telling the truth. However, the integration of his soul with his new body wasn't quite perfect. He still felt like he was drifting mid-air.

Sabrina also shouted in rage, "Brucille, that's enough! You've already done enough to harm Tyrion."

Before someone else got hold of Brucille to stop him, he inserted four more needles into Tyrion. When Henric noticed that the medical monitor was no longer beeping, he quickly instructed the other staff to push Tyrion into the emergency room.

As they left the wardroom, Brucille whispered into Henric's ear, "Keep the needles first!"

Henric had witnessed firsthand the changes in Tyrion's situation a moment ago. Tyrion was in a rather critical stage, yet Brucille only put a few needles to stabilize Tyrion's condition. Henric was truly surprised by Brucille.

The news of Tyrion in critical condition had reached Melissa Ching, the eldest daughter of the Ching family, and her husband, Pollard Hwang. The two of them rushed to the emergency room, looking as if they were going to murder Brucille for it.

However, Brucille was confused to see them. He didn't know the two people in front of him. When his soul integrated into the body, the original "Brucille" was almost dying, so there weren't many memories left behind.

Sabrina suppressed her anger and said calmly, "Brucille, you're awake now. But do you realize how grim the mistake you have made? Do you know that you almost killed your father-in-law?"

"You have been leeching off our family for more than a year, and I said nothing about it. But now that you've tried to kill Tyrion, I can't let this continue anymore. Are you going to kill off our entire family?"

Melissa supported her mother and rebuked in a louder voice, "Brucille, I'm telling you, you're good for nothing. You got Dad into a car accident, and now you're standing here, but he's still unconscious! You shouldn't have woken up before him."

"My sis is really unlucky to have blindly listened to Dad in the first place."

It was then Brucille realized that the woman was his sister-in-law.

If then, the man must be his brother-in-law.

Pollard was calm in comparison with her wife. He reached out to wave his fingers in front of Brucille, and he asked, "Brucille, do you know how many fingers are there?"

Brucille was speechless at Pollard's question. Pollard must have thought that he had hurt his head.

Therefore, Brucille just simply replied, "I'm fine. And I think Dad should be fine too."

The word 'Dad' came out of his mouth rather stiffly. After all, he still needed some time to adapt to the body, especially the complicated relationship in his family.

Melissa, eyes widened, asked in confusion, "What did you say? Are you out of your mind? But it better goes as you said. Otherwise, if anything bad happens to my Dad, don't blame me for tearing you into pieces."

As soon as she was done threatening Brucille, she helped Sabrina to her seat. Brucille could feel the hatred in Sabrina's glare.

Meantime, Pollard walked close to him and whispered, "Brucille, you're really lucky, you know? No one would have thought you'd survive when you were so badly injured. But then again, it's a good thing that you didn't die. Otherwise, the Ching family would have fewer jokes to laugh at. Don't you think so?"

The situation in hand was depressing to Brucille. Not only was the original "Brucille" for the body wasn't a rich man, but he was someone who lived in his wife's birth family. The worst was that the family didn't like him at all.

It seemed to Brucille that his status in the family was just as what Monique had said - no higher than a dog's.

An hour later, Henric came out, drenched in sweat, and exclaimed, "Mrs. Ching, things are fine now. Mr. Ching will wake up soon, so don't you worry."

Upon hearing that, Sabrina took Henric's hands and clenched them. Elated, she said, "Henric, thank you so much! I really don't know what else I could say other than many thanks."

Melissa even blurted out, "I don't understand... Monique and you are childhood friends, and you even attended the same college. Why didn't Dad let you marry her? Look, now the sc*mbag had taken advantage of our family."

Henric straightened up and said humbly, "Melissa, I think we should bring Mr. Ching back to the wardroom first. But, to be honest, I didn't know what Mr. Ching was thinking at that time too."

Pollard, of course, mocked Brucille again, "It's that old cliché; Dad and Brucille's father used to be comrades. But his dad had been dead for so many years. Isn't there a saying that says like father like son? Judging from his look, I think his dad was as spineless as he is now."

Brucille's face turned ugly. Even if Pollard thought he was high and mighty, he could at least have the decency to not badmouth a deceased. Furthermore, the man Pollard was disrespecting was Brucille's - the body's - father.

Brucille glared at Pollard with hostility. When he noticed the cold stare, Pollard quickly helped to move Tyrion back to his wardroom.

The next day, Joanne came to Brucille chirpily.

"Mr. Yip, you're amazing! I felt no pain at all last night."

"Take three doses accordingly to prevent more pain in the future," he only nodded and said.

"Thank you!"

Then, when she was about to leave, Brucille stopped her and asked, "Are you familiar with Ty- my father-in-law?"

Perplexed, Joanne stared at Brucille and thought it was weird for him to ask her about Tyrion, seeing that he was Tyrion's son-in-law.

But, she dutifully answered, "He was the assistant dean of our hospital, and he retired early because of his illness a few years ago. I know nothing else. What's the matter?"

"It's nothing. I'll leave you be."

Brucille searched through the incomplete memories of the body. He could recall that Tyrion had once said that he had his reason to retire early because of sickness. The thing was, Brucille couldn't remember exactly why Tyrion did that, but he was sure that it wasn't because of his disease.

After being on bed rest for more than half a month, Brucille felt like he had either become disabled or rusty. He went to the bathroom to relieve himself, humming his favorite tune as he was in a good mood.

However, the middle-aged man with a shirt standing next to him didn't look good.

Out of good intention, Brucille said after he took a glance at the man beside him, "Hey, you. If I weren't wrong, something was going on in your kidney. If you don't go for treatment as soon as possible, not only that it will affect your sexual life with your wife, it will also affect your daily activity."

The man in the shirt wasn't any ordinary person. He was Charles Wong, the director of the Food and Drug Administration in Spring River City.

He turned around to look at Brucille, and Charles sternly chided him, "How could you say such a thing out loud in public? And what do you mean, young man? How could you possibly see through my clothes to say that my kidney had something wrong? All I did was only take a leak."
