Chapter 5 I Know the Director

Upon hearing Brucille's words, Henric was dumbfounded and didn't know what he was implying. By the time Henric understood them and wanted to refute, Brucille had already left in a taxi.

It was Brucille's first time at a villa so luxurious. Since he caused such a severe incident, he entered the villa gingerly.

Relatives were visiting the villa because Tyrion was just discharged from the hospital. After all, Tyrion survived an accident, so they were there to celebrate.

At the dinner table, Kiana Miau – Sabrina's sister – said, "Tyrion, you're lucky to have survived it. You should stay home and rest for some time."

Haward Leung, Kiana's son, turned to Brucille and said sarcastically, "Brucille, your driving skill is atrocious. You have almost killed Uncle Tyrion. However, I'll applaud you since both of you are fine. I'll let you have that." He raised the glass in his hand to give Brucille a toast.

Kiana hit Haward at his back and said, "Haward, how dare you speak in such a manner in front of your uncle? Now, you should have a drink with your Aunt Sabrina. She's a senior staff of the Local Tax Bureau. Aren't you starting at your new job next week?"

Hearing that, Sabrina asked, "Did you get a job at the Local Tax Bureau, Haward?"

"Yes, Aunt Sabrina. But I didn't get the job because I'm your nephew. You must have known that I'm a diligent person. They hired me because I'm a graduate student with a master's degree, and I'm at the professional level."

Being accepted in the government offices meant having a secured job. Not only that, Sabrina knew that there would be a reformation in the tax bureau system. Therefore, they were in dire need of highly educated young people.

She looked at Brucille again, and she couldn't help but compare him with Haward, only to realize that the gap between them was indeed distinctive.

Haward smiled, "Brucille, judging by the looks of you, I'm afraid it might take at least three years for you to recover. Have a good rest at home. Monique has a reliable income to support both of you anyway. I think I should marry someone like her in the future."

Brucille was so angry at his words, but what Haward said was the truth. At this moment, Monique barked, "Don't talk while you eat!"

However, Melissa took Haward's side, "Pollard, we're still in need of a security guard in Caesar Hotel, aren't we? It shouldn't be a problem to hire someone strong like Brucille, right? After all, he'll need to work to support himself."

Pollard grinned at Melissa, and he added, not giving up any chance to embarrass Brucille, "Of course it's not a problem. I'm just afraid that I'm doing him wrong. After all, he's the son-in-law of the Ching family just like I am. Won't it look like I'm giving him a hard time on purpose?"

He was speaking as though he was conflicted, but, in fact, he was secretly happy to have said that.

The fork in his hand felt like a bomb to Brucille. He thought to himself that, someday, he would have his revenge for all the insults and embarrassment he got that day.

The family talked and laughed for the rest of the dinner, only Brucille couldn't join in their conversation like a familiar stranger. Never once had he so clearly felt that the original host had close to no importance in the family.

Even the poodle at the foot of the table had food served to him, while Brucille could only serve himself.

At that moment, Pollard received a call. He picked up the phone and listened for a few moments before shouting into it, "What? What are you doing? The people from the Food and Drug Administration are here, and you don't know how to go about it? Hang on, let me make a call."

After he hung up the phone, Melissa asked anxiously, "What's wrong? Pollard, what happened?"

"The Food and Drug Administration staff just came and spot-check our cutlery sets and they said that we didn't meet the hygiene test standard. Usually, they'll just fine us, but, this time around, they want us to close for business. Someone must be behind this."

"I'll go with you. If the business shuts down, it will be a big loss to us."

Pollard took out his cell phone and called the vice director of the Food and Drug Administration, "Mr. Lee, this is Pollard. I heard that your staff wants me to shut down my business? What? Your senior management is scrutinizing the investigation and you can't do anything about it?"

"Hello... Hello?"

Pollard was worried. If the hotel shut down because of food safety concerns, it would be difficult for him to salvage the business.

Just as he got up and was about to leave to handle the emergency, Brucille spoke softly, "I know the director. Why don't I call him first?"

Pollard looked at Brucille in confusion. Brucille was the last person he expected to know the director of the Food and Drug Administration. Pollard was about to negate when Tyrion said, "It's a good idea. We're family after all. Brucille, please call and ask."

Therefore, Brucille called Charles. Brucille wasn't sure if the one answering the call would be Charles, so he asked when the call was picked up, "Is this Mr. Wong?"

"Oh, Brucille! Why did you call at this late hour? By the way, your idea works very well. We must have a chat in private someday."

"Okay, but I called for something else. Here's the thing... My brother-in-law owns the Caesar Hotel, and the staff in your department instructed us to close down the hotel because they had found some minor problems. I think they're making too big of a fuss out of it. What do you think?"

After hearing this, Charles immediately replied, "Sorry, Brucille. Let me call and ask immediately. If there's nothing else, I'll let it pass."

After Brucille hung up, everyone at the dining table was very surprised. Monique eyed him with suspicion, wondering how he knew the director of the Food and Drug Administration.

A few minutes later, Pollard received a call from the hotel manager, saying that the staff of the Food and Drug Administration left after receiving a call. Pollard returned to the dining table and poured himself a glass of wine.

"Brucille, why didn't you mention earlier that you know Mr. Wong? We're short of an assistant manager, so why don't you come and help me out?"

"There's no need. I'm not used to that kind of place."

After that, no one dared to mock Brucille anymore, and they left for home after dinner.

Meanwhile, Monique took a shower after dinner. She came out of the shower to see Brucille sitting on the couch.

She dully said, "Thank you for what you have done today. You should go to bed earlier."

Brucille was about to follow her into the room, but Monique pointed at a room downstairs and said, "Don't tell me that you've forgotten where you're supposed to sleep after the car accident?"

Brucille was a little embarrassed at that. But he really didn't know.

When he went into the room that Monique showed him, he finally realized although the original host had been married to Monique for a year and a half, he could only sleep in the guest room.

This shouldn't be called a marriage. The Ching family was just taking in him like taking in a homeless stranger.

Lying on a single bed alone, Brucille was depressed at the thought of it. He didn't know how to put his feelings into words. He was reborn into someone else's body, but he couldn't live someone else's life no matter what.

After spending the first night of his new life in the villa, Brucille was determined to use the new body to avenge his previous self once he was fully recovered.

The warm sun of early summer shone brightly into the backyard. A Porsche Cayenne of the latest model pulled up in the yard, and a young man in his casual pants and a white shirt got out of the car.

"Brucille! D*mn! You're awake! Why didn't you tell me?"

"What?"
