Chapter 3 It Was Him

"Jacob, how long have you been working in the Johnson Family?" Gabrielle asked casually.

"Lady Joyce, I came here at the end of April of last year." Jacob didn't hide it, "I signed a one-year contract."

"You were a soldier?"

"Yes." Jacob nodded his head.

Gabrielle smiled. Both Keefe and Leon had been soldiers. Thus, she was well disposed towards soldiers. She also paid her inexplicable respect to them.

Jacob glanced at Gabrielle. Her light smile suddenly made him feel very warm.

While staggering, the car didn't leave the village so far. All of a sudden, a loud crash of thunder sounded. Then, it rained heavily. The unsurfaced road, which wasn't smooth, became harder to drive on.

"Stop the car." Gabrielle suddenly said.

Jacob was stunned, "Lady Joyce?"

"I'll drive the car," Gabrielle said in a low voice, but her tone was firm.

Jacob frowned. He wanted to say no.

"You've hurt your right wrist. It doesn't heal up because you didn't have a timely medical treatment at that time. If you continue to put into gear with force, your right hand will be disabled."

Jacob subconsciously braked the car and goggled at her in surprise. Wasn't this the second time for them to meet each other? The first time, they didn't even speak.

"One of the Cotton Family's ancestors was an imperial physician. Leon had been working as a barefoot doctor in the village for years." Gabrielle glanced at Jacob. "I had been imperceptibly influenced by what I constantly saw and heard. Isn't it normal for me to perceive your injury? If we have a smooth road and good weather, it'll be fine. But in this case, it's not good for you to drive. I have a driver's license. You can trust me."

Jacob just realized that he had forgotten himself. He quickly calmed down and crawled to the front passenger seat.

Gabrielle crawled to the driver's seat from behind and started the car skillfully.

Jacob lowered his head and rubbed his wrist. Indeed, the weather was bad. The road wasn't smooth. Thus, he needed to shift gears frequently and hold the steering wheel with force. His wrist began to hurt faintly and become weak.

"I can cure you." Gabrielle looked straight ahead and said faintly.

Jacob instantly turned around his head and looked at Gabrielle.

"I said I could cure your hand." Gabrielle smiled and gave her mind wholly to drive the car.

She was a good driver. Plus, this car had high performance. So, she drove onto the asphalt road after a short while. However, because of the heavy rain, she had poor visibility and drove very slowly. It was getting late. They had no choice but to go to Stones River County for a night's rest.

In spite of being a county, Stones River County was a very important cultivated base of vegetables. So, it was bustling.

Gabrielle directly parked the car in front of the Stone River Hotel, which was the best hotel in the county. There was a giant billboard on its outside wall, which was an advertisement for a world-renowned cosmetic. The spokesperson was the new film and television star, Lora Johnson.

It rained heavily a moment ago, but now, it magically stopped. The dark sky also became bright.

Jacob went first to book the room.

Gabrielle lagged far behind. She just walked a few steps when a red sports car came from a nearby road.

Because of the heavy rain, there were a lot of rain puddles on the ground.

Unintentionally or intentionally, the driver drove through the rain puddles, which made the mud and water immediately fly in all directions.

Although Gabrielle instantly took a few steps back, she couldn't dodge. She was about to curse, but she saw the driver's face flash by. His features were distinct and angular. But, under his dashing eyebrows, there was a pair of slender amorous eyes with laughter, which looked three times more charming than a woman.

Bryant Scott, it was him!

Gabrielle's eyes reddened immediately.
