Chapter 7 You Have To Pay For Your Arrogance!

Tessa looked up and opened her mouth to say something. But on second thought, she snapped it shut.

Samuel glared at her with a livid face and opened the door for her.

However, Tessa didn't make any move to get in. Alena pushed her slightly and urged, "Tessa, what are you waiting for? Get in the car!"

Tessa took a deep breath and smiled at Alena. "Grandma, it's getting late. You shouldn't be out at this time. Go in and I'll let you know when we're home."

Tessa's plan was simple. As soon as Alena was inside the house, she would go on foot and call a taxi to pick her up.

She really needed to get a car for herself to avoid these situations.

Samuel stood there with a straight face and said nothing.

"I'll go in after you leave. Now, get in the car so I can go back home," Alena said with a smile as though she could read Tessa's mind.

Tessa was still hesitating when Samuel lost his patience and demanded, "Just get in the car already!"

Tessa sighed resignedly and got in. Samuel closed the door and turned to his grandmother. "You can go back in now."

"Get in the car now and don't tell me what to do!" Alena snapped impatiently at him.

Her tone took Samuel by surprise.

How could she treat them both so differently?

She was his grandma for crying out loud! Not Tessa's!

However, he couldn't talk back at her. So he got into the car and drove away.

The car was so quiet that they could literally hear each other breathing.

Tessa had no desire to talk to him or even spend time in his presence. So, as soon as the car turned a corner and she was sure that Alena couldn't see them, she said coldly, "Stop the car!"

Samuel threw her a disgusting glance. "Why? Where are you going? Is there a man waiting somewhere for you?"

Tessa shook her head mockingly and laughed. "I've told you to stop the car. Or have you changed your mind on the divorce and wanted me back?"

That was enough to make Samuel stop. He stepped on the brakes abruptly, and the car stopped instantly.

Samuel then turned to her with a livid face, clearly about to say something, but Tessa smiled faintly and cut him off. "Listen, Samuel, if you want to divorce me, then do it quickly. I might change my mind and stand between the two of you getting married. So I'd advise you to hurry up."

No sooner had she finished her words than she put her hand on the handle to open the door.

But then she frowned. The door was locked.

She turned back to him with furrowed eyebrows and asked, "What's this?"

Samuel sneered and asked, "Do you think Grandma will always be on your side?"

"Of course, you would think that I badmouthed you to Grandma." Tessa shook her head and smiled. "But why should it even matter? What is important to you right now is getting me out of your life, right? Listen, Samuel, just give me a final date so we can get this over with. When will we finalize the divorce?"

Samuel didn't answer her question. "Do you want Grandma to know about it when we divorce?"

"Samuel, you need to make up your mind," Tessa said impatiently. "If you are scared of everything, then we will never finalize this divorce. Make up your damn mind. Are you free tomorrow?"

Samuel looked away and said coldly, "I already said I'll have someone contact you when I'm free. Now, get out of my car!"

"Oh please, I hope you didn't think I wanted to be in your car. There's no need to be arrogant because I hated every second of it," Tessa retorted and got out of the car immediately.

This time, the door wasn't locked. She deliberately left the door open and teased him with a smile, "Goodbye, Mr. Pearson."

"Tessa!" Samuel grunted through gritted teeth.

But she didn't care. She sneered and showed him her back. Then she disappeared down the mountain, taking the path that could only take one person.

Two hours later, Samuel was back at the company.

The phone rang, and he answered after the first ring as though he had been waiting.

"Mr. Pearson, I followed Tessa down the mountain, but I didn't see anyone, and she didn't do anything suspicious," reported the person on the line.

Samuel's face darkened as he heard this.

He was furious since Tessa deliberately got on his nerves before.

"Don't keep an eye on her anymore!" Samuel suddenly ordered.

The man was stunned for a second, but he recovered quickly and said, "Okay."

After that, Samuel hung up, irritated. He didn't want to hear anything that concerned Tessa anymore. The only thing it did was get him angry.
