Chapter 6 You're Not A Gentleman At All

Tessa stared at Alena in shock. Did she really know everything?

The old woman pulled her to sit down beside her and attempted to reassure her. "Don't worry, darling. I'll break his legs if he stays out late again! I will surely teach him a lesson."

Tessa's shoulder sagged. It turned out that Alena was talking about something else, not their divorce.

As Alena took in Samuel's icy expression, she demanded angrily, "Why are you looking at Tessa like that? Are you mad because I asked you to bring her here for dinner?"

After holding back his cold manners, Samuel replied in an unusually meek voice, "Of course not."

Alena harrumphed. "You're not getting any younger. How come I don't have a great-grandson yet? If you don't want to disappoint me, give me a great-grandson then."

When Alena moved to stand up, Tessa hurriedly went to her aid.

With a frown, Samuel glanced at Tessa.

Before they arrived, the servant had already placed the dishes on the table.

As Alena walked to the table with Tessa's help, she said, "Let's eat. If he doesn't want to, he can just go and never come here again."

Samuel pressed his lips into a thin line. He did not say anything as he sat opposite them.

Alena enthusiastically filled Tessa's plate with food. It was as if she was her granddaughter and Samuel was her grandson-in-law.

Soon, she and Tessa started eating.

Meanwhile, Samuel was ignored. After eating a few bites, he turned to Alena and asked, "Grandma, why do you suddenly want to see us?"

"Well, it's been a while since you visited." As soon as her eyes landed on him, Alena remembered again that he had treated Tessa in a bad way, and she became annoyed once more. "What kind of question is that? Can't I just ask you to come here to accompany me? I'm almost always alone here because your grandfather often goes on business trips."

Samuel went tight-lipped again.

In the end, he just continued eating and did not say anything more.

However, it was too late. Alena was already far too worked up to calm down. She slammed her hands on the table and scolded, "Anyway, do I really have to remind you every time that Tessa is your wife? You should be taking care of her, not that bitch you always visit in the hospital! Don't you know that your actions might bring shame upon the Pearson family?"

With a scowl, Samuel protested, "Grandma, Betty is my saviour."

"Your saviour? Anyone with functioning eyes can see that it's part of her scheme."

Samuel cast Tessa a cold glance.

Tessa smiled indifferently. She knew what was running through his mind right now. He was definitely blaming her, thinking that it was her who told Alena that.

She used to worry that he would misunderstand her.

Now, however, she just did not care.

"Quit looking at Tessa like that! It wasn't her who told me! You always go to the hospital, and you rarely come home. Did you really think I wouldn't find out about it?"

With his lips drawn together, Samuel remained silent.

Alena chastised him throughout the entire dinner, and she did not even try sugarcoating her words.

Tessa somehow felt a strange sense of joy within her, which felt like Alena had helped her release her pent-up resentment.

After chatting with Alena for a while, Tessa and Samuel walked out of the house together.

At the moment, Tessa was in a dilemma.

Since Grandma still had no idea that they had split up, they had to leave using the same car.

However, she did not want to have more interaction with Samuel than necessary. The drive on the way to the Pearson family's house had been annoying already.

Samuel also stopped and did not move for a while. It prompted Alena to shout, "Samuel, open the door for your wife! My goodness, you're not a gentleman at all!"
