Chapter 7 Help - II

一 Being smart is not the point, Helena, it's that even a five year old child knows that 一 That was the last thing he said and I knew he had just ended the conversation.

The weather was tense and so was the cloudy sky, my opinion was that today it would rain more than usual, the small and strange town was predominantly cold weather, sometimes the heat invaded the whole town, but it was usually cold.

一 The weather got cold 一 Emilly smoothed her arms as if to say that it was cold, and in an impulsive act I took my sweatshirt from my bag.

一 Here 一 I handed it to the girl who hesitated for a brief second but then took it from me and put it on.

It's very kind of you.

I would do that for anyone else.

一 Apparently he's the only gentleman here 一 Helena again spoke and Brendon smiled sideways.

一 Helena 一 He said quietly and the girl's eyes widened just at his voice calling her name 一 You always carry a sweatshirt with you, I believe today is no different 一 He smiled and for the first time I saw the girl blush.

一 I-I 一 She stuttered 一 You're more ignorant than he is! 一 The girl pointed at me and stepped out in front of us and when I realized we were already in front of the school.

I stopped for a moment and saw the movement of the place, none of my enemies were in the yard full of students from all classes, what was a relief for me and made me think that today my day would be a little calmer, I lost sight of Emilly and Helena because of the hurry the girls entered and after a few seconds the bell rang indicating that we could all enter.

一 Then let's go! 一 I said to brendon.

一 Come on 一 He replied excitedly and I laughed at his state.

一 Looks like someone got excited, huh? 一 I asked seeing his excitement to enter the school.

But what are you talking about, man?

Don't play innocent, your excitement is all about her.

一 Stop being an idiot and hurry up before there's only room left in the back of the room.

一 It wouldn't be a bad idea for you 一 I teased and he ignored me and entered the crowd of students that had formed.

The amount of students decreased as they went into their classrooms, we were already near our classroom when the loud noise of rain is heard, it wouldn't be a good day if it didn't rain, but unlike yesterday, today I wasn't sad. We entered the room accompanied by several other students, unlike the normal day, the room today was not crowded and the fantastic group had not come either, which was a relief because today I would have a day off.

As soon as we settled in our seats, the biology teacher entered the room announcing that he would start his class, but before he started I took one last look to the back of the room and found Emilly smelling my sweatshirt and that made me smile, this was the last thing I thought I would see in my life, but I was wrong and there she was, lying with her arms on the table while wearing my sweatshirt.

一 Good morning, Students! 一 The teacher uttered excitedly.

一 Bad morning 一 Said some student who was at the back of the room.

一 Cheer up kids, today we will start a subject that I like a lot 一 The teacher took out his notebook and then wrote on the board ''Mitosis'' 一 And that's the subject we will study today.

In total there were fifteen students, and some of them were very bored, others were fiddling with their cell phones and some, like me and Brendon, took the notebook out of the backpack, sometimes I hesitated and ended up looking back and when I noticed, Emilly was also looking at me and it was as if a shock went through every part of my body every time our gazes met.

一 Mitosis, also called karyokinesis, is the process of cell division, in which the mother cell generates two daughter cells. Living eukaryotic beings, including humans, carry out mitosis continuously, from birth to death. 一 The professor began the subject and I turned in a sharp way to look at him. 一 This process happens inside somatic cells, that is, those responsible for the formation of tissues and organs in multicellular organisms, among them the tissues of the human body and the organs of the human body, in this way it makes mitosis very important, can anyone tell me what for? 一 He asked and the room became silent, knowing that no one was going to answer, I did it myself.

一 Tissue growth and regeneration, healing, gamete formation in plants, and the divisions of the zygote during embryonic development 一 I answered and the professor smiled satisfied.

一 Very good, Mr. Travis, one point for you 一 The professor stopped his writing on the board and wrote something down in his notebook while some people complained about the professor's gesture.

The teacher continued his class and during it, he asked several questions worth one point, in total in just one class, I got three points since the rest I didn't want to answer so as not to arouse the ire of my dear classmates who really hated me. When the bell rang I sighed relieved and when I realized, Helena and Emilly came to our table to talk, which made me feel strange since they were not that kind of people, and even less talked to us.

一 You are really a nerd 一 Helena teased me.

一 And you're really dumb 一 I rebutted.

一 No need to get worked up, it was just a joke.

一 Just like the rock, right Helena? I asked, watching the girl get a little upset.

一 It's not our fault, we even asked them to stop 一 Emilly tried to defend them.

一 Then why don't you guys get out of these shitty relationships? I asked, getting upset, but before I could hear an answer the teacher enters the classroom, and here we go for another class.

The short little art teacher with the deep glasses started her subject about contemporary art and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and bow my head, the art classes we usually didn't have to write since the teacher provided all the material for us to study for exams or even to do assignments, this meant that, the art subject was almost non-existent. I closed my eyes just to listen until the teacher asked for two characteristics of contemporary art, I was ready to answer until someone else did it for me.

一 Fusion between art and life and ephemerality of art 一 The voice came out almost as a whisper and when I looked to see who had answered, Emilly was standing there blushing with embarrassment because all the students present were looking at her.

一 Well done Miss Harrison, one point for you.

Emilly usually never cared to answer the teachers' questions, she always ignored them not to mention that she never cared about the students' looks at her, but it was like that was changing, she was different today and it was that Emilly that I wanted to see every day. The rest of the class flew by and when I realized it was already break time and my stomach rumbled in a loud way, if I didn't eat I would surely feel sick.
