Chapter 4 Pain - II

I regretted not bringing a sweatshirt with me, I felt my body burning with heat in the cold that it was, and I almost considered going back inside until a voice made me want to stay, and as I looked to the side, I frowned as if I couldn't believe what was happening and seeing, Emilly was standing next to me looking at me with a long dog face.

一 May I sit down? 一 She asked in her calm voice.

I cursed for a minute for allowing my voice to falter and stutter a little word around her, but the girl just smiled and sat down beside me completely ignoring my little 'stutter'.

Silence manifested itself in the place, and an absurd pain rose in my ears because of the silent place until she spoke again.

一 What are you doing here at this time of night?

I came to watch the night. But what about you?

She answered looking surprised and I just kept quiet and went back to watching the starry sky of that cold and dark night.

一 How's your head? 一 The girl again brought up a subject I couldn't remember, until on impulse I touched it, which made me refuse and give a soft groan of pain.

一 My goodness 一 The girl said basically jumping up to see how my head was, but her sigh of relief made me see that it was fine, just sore.

一 You're quite warm 一 She whispered giving me goose bumps.

一 It's just a fever 一 Without me realizing it my words came out harshly and the girl backed away returning to her seat beside me.

一 Sorry.

There's no need to apologize.

一 That's my fault 一 She lowered her gaze.

一 If you know you have a small part to blame, why are you still with him? 一 She looked at me quickly startled for an answer, but nothing came out of her mouth and then I sighed.

一 See you later, Ryan 一 Those were her last words until she stood up and walked back to her house.

She was a different person when she was away from him, it was like a mask that she only wore to feel good around her boyfriend and the rest of her friends, she was a shallow girl who only cared about what people thought, and not about her true thoughts 一 the child Emilly would be disappointed with the current Emilly.

The sky was no longer funny to me, I took a deep breath and went back inside the house, after making sure that everything I had opened was now safely closed, I went back to the bedroom throwing myself and the first thing I did was to go towards the window to close it, and coincidence or not Emilly was also doing the same thing. The girl smiled sourly and waved at me, then closed her window for good.

When I opened my eyes that morning, the first sight I saw was my mom taking my temperature again, I sat up in bed and when she beeped I took it myself, the fever had gone down a little, unlike last night, it was now 38 degrees, I just needed to rest a little more to get better for good and go back to school.

一 How much did you give? She asked me looking at my hand.

38 degrees Celsius.

一 Take this pill and rest 一 she asked again handing me the small pill.

一 So I don't have to go to school today? 一 I asked pretending to be sad, but the reality was different.

一 No my dear, I will go to work now and try to get there as soon as possible to keep up with you.

一 You don't have to worry about me mom 一 I asked

一 It's natural for me to worry, now rest up and I'll be off to work.

Good job mom," I wished.

一 Have a good day son 一 She kissed my forehead and so she left.

I lay down for a few minutes again and asked myself what I would do this morning since I wouldn't be going to school and the answer was clear 一 I would spend the whole morning and afternoon watching anime and forget about the rest of the world until the next day. I grabbed my towel and headed for the bathroom and as soon as I arrived, I stopped in front of it again and looked at my condition, I looked better than yesterday. I got rid of my clothes and stepped into the shower stall, and as the water poured down, I realized that the cuts no longer hurt, the shower was going to help regulate my body temperature making me better for a torturous day at school tomorrow.

I spent more than twenty minutes in the shower and as I used to take my clothes, I got ready and went straight to the kitchen, for a minute I was distracted looking at the street and when I realized, Emilly was passing right in front of me, our looks met and then she smiled, I was confused with her gesture, but then I reciprocated, and when I looked at the clock, it still marked seven thirty in the morning, and from our street to the school it wasn't even ten minutes walking, so she wouldn't be late. I picked up the clean plate from the sink and went to the fridge to get another piece of chocolate cake and went back to my room.

The first thing I saw was a documentary about the massacre that happened at Columbine school in Colorado in the United States on April 20, 1999 by two students, 17 and 18 years old. The duo murdered in cold blood thirteen people and wounded 24 others, the police said that they had enough weapons and ammunition to end the lives of everyone inside that school, and I wondered why they didn't do it. Sometimes after everything that I went through I would look for a way to get revenge, but for sure I would never kill anyone, it was evident that the murders were caused by pure evil and perversity on their part and this didn't shock me, the world really was getting more and more cruel.

When the documentary ended I went to watch a comedy movie to relieve the tension in my body and it worked because it made me forget for an hour all my problems and I was grateful for that, I looked at the clock on top of the TV and realized that it was already going to be ten o'clock, lucky for me my mother always left all the meals ready, except for dinner that she liked to prepare on the spot, I felt my eyes heavy and then I decided that taking a nap would be the best option for me.

I was running desperately through the white corridors of the hospital with her bloodied body, Emilly was in my arms losing her consciousness while I begged her to stay with me, but before I could enter a room to save her, he again appears with a gun in his hand and at that moment I knew it would be the end of us, and Bang, the shot from his firearm hit my chest making me fall on the floor with Emilly's inert body.

I felt my body sweating all over, I got out of bed in one jump and when I realized I was still lying on my bed and the movie had already ended, but not only that, the bell was ringing and the clock was one o'clock in the afternoon, I had taken more than a nap and the whole thing was just a nightmare that I would never want to happen.

I shouted from the hallway for whoever was ringing the doorbell to hear.

I walked towards the door and when I looked through the magic eye to my surprise it was Brendon, who was looking all around like he owed someone, and the sigh of relief he gave when I opened the door was easily noticed.

一 Are you okay man?

一 Yes, let me in please 一 He basically begged and then I wondered, was someone following him to beat him up? I allowed him to pass and before I could ask him anything, he ran towards the bathroom and the door was locked very quickly.

His attitude made me worried, no matter how much he was going through something super complicated and difficult, he always told me first and never had this kind of attitude. I sat on the sofa and stared at the bathroom and the clock, two minutes had passed and my concern only increased, I couldn't hear anything coming from inside the bathroom and I was already considering the idea of opening the door using the strength I didn't have to see what happened when he finally appeared leaving me relieved.
