Chapter 2 I Want To Divorce You

A shiver ran down Layla's spine when she heard Clark's words. She didn't expect that her real identity would be exposed too soon.

Indeed, she was not Sandra Reed. She was Layla Reed, a young woman who grew up in the countryside.

About one month ago, the Reeds came to her and said she was mistakenly taken away after she was born. She was actually the daughter of the Reed family, who had gone missing for many years.

Of course, she was overjoyed because she had finally found her biological parents. However, her heart sank in disappointment when she realized that they didn't sincerely want her back. In fact, no one in the Reed family liked her. They only looked for her to make her the substitute bride of their non-biological daughter.

But Layla couldn't risk her grandmother's life. So she took a deep breath to calm herself down, raised her head, and said firmly, "I am Sandra Reed."

Clark's sharp eyes were still filled with coldness. He didn't say anything, and the situation was in a stalemate.

Layla felt guilty, but she tried hard to hide it. She lifted the hemline of her dress and wanted to walk in. "I'm so tired. Can I go in and have a rest first?"

But Clark suddenly asked, "Where is the necklace?" When she looked at him, she found he was staring at her slender neck.

"What... What necklace?" Layla jerked at Clark's question. She had no idea what he was talking about.

But her reaction made his face darken even more. He ran out of patience and ordered the servants, "Close the door!"

"Hey, wait! I'm really Sandra Reed. I am your wife."

Seeing that the door was about to close, Layla came back to her senses and suddenly pushed it with all her strength. She had been strong since she was a child, and the two servants could not stop her at all.

Then there was a loud bang.

It turned out that the two servants lost to her and fell backwards together.

Due to the inertia, Layla staggered forward. Knowing that she was about to fall on her face, she closed her eyes and let out a scream.

She expected to feel the pain after her face hit the floor. But much to her surprise, it didn't come. She opened her eyes curiously, only to find herself lying in Clark's warm arms. She was stunned for a moment. When she recovered, she hurriedly struggled to stand up. But her hand accidentally touched something hot and hard. She was puzzled, so she tilted her head to look at it.

"Damn it! Take your hand off me."

Clark couldn't stand it any longer. At this moment, his voice deepened to a low growl.

But it was like a thunderbolt that woke Layla up.

Her face flushed in embarrassment. She got up in a hurry and apologized in a low voice, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it."

She felt like there was still a scorching heat in the palm of her hand. She subconsciously rubbed her hand against her dress, trying to ignore the strange feeling.

When Clark noticed what Layla did, his face darkened even more. But his ears turned red in anger and embarrassment.

The way he saw it, she acted like she had touched something dirty.

He grasped the armrest of his wheelchair tightly. When he was about to drive her away again, the butler hurried to his side and whispered something in his ear.

The expression on Clark's face changed at once. He no longer cared about Layla. Instead, he turned his wheelchair and was about to leave.

But before he could go, the butler asked in a hurry, "Mr. Smith, what should we do with Mrs. Smith?"

"Whatever you want to."

Clark's cold voice came from a distance, then he disappeared in the elevator.

The butler stood there in a dilemma. He didn't know what Clark meant.

But seeing that Layla was soaking wet, and the hemline of her white wedding dress was full of mud, he frowned and said, "Come inside and clean yourself first."

She was in a mess and so dirty.

Layla nodded obediently. As long as they didn't drive her out, she would follow everything they said.

She dragged her small suitcase and quickly went upstairs. Then she chose a room randomly and went straight to the bathroom.

The wet dress clung to her body. She felt so uncomfortable that she desperately wanted a hot shower.

Clark went to the study.

There were some urgent documents in the company he had to deal with.

When he finished, he pushed his wheelchair back to his bedroom.

As soon as he opened the door, he heard some movements in the bathroom, and the sound of the water from the shower.

Looking at the bathroom with his cold eyes, he quietly controlled his wheelchair and suddenly opened the glass door.

Then he saw a beautiful figure looming in the pervading mist. But before Clark could take a closer look, Layla's scream rang out in the bathroom.

Clark didn't know exactly what had happened. He only felt that the world spun for a while. Then he realized that he was already lying on the wet floor of the bathroom.

He slowly raised his head only to see Layla's flushed face. Her hair was slightly wet, and her body was only wrapped in a bath towel. Her right leg was still stretched forward, reminding him of how she kicked his wheelchair just now.

At this moment, the servants who heard the noise rushed over.

"Mr. Smith, what happened?"

Then they saw the scene where Layla was scantily-clad, and Clark lay on the floor.

They didn't know whether they should cover their eyes first or go forward to help Clark up.

Before they could make a move, Layla came back to her senses.

She quickly held up the wheelchair, carried Clark in her arms, and put him in it carefully.

Then she stood behind him like a frightened rabbit, not daring to speak or even look at his gloomy face, trying to reduce her sense of existence.

But it was already too late to make it up.

Clark gritted his teeth and said word by word angrily, "Sandra Reed, I want to divorce you. Immediately! I mean it!"

Layla's heart sank. It seemed that she got herself into trouble again.
