Chapter 10
"Isn't it on the fifteenth of next month that the company would be marking it's 20th anniversary?" Adrienne suddenly asked as she wiped her mouth with the napkin.
She was referring to her parents.
"I was just going to talk to you about that." Her father started and stopped eating.
"Oh! Really? What about it?" Adrienne asked curiously. "Well, we'll be throwing an elaborate party to celebrate of course. And apart from that, something else is going to happen that day.
It concerns you and I hope you wouldn't be mad when you find out," Her father said.
Adrienne was confused and did not quite follow what her father was talking about.
"I don't understand dad, what exactly are you talking about?" She asked.
"You don't have to know the full details now. On that day, you'll know what will happen." Her mother replied instead.
"But-" Adrienne was saying but her mother cut her short. "Don't be too curious. We were just giving you heads up."
"Okay, if you say so." Adrienne grumbled and continued eating.

"It's been fifteen years since I started working in this company and I'm still in the director's position. Don't you think it's time I become the CEO of this company?" Chief director Alfred complained.
Mr Alfred has been friends with Adrienne's father, Mr Charles for over 25 years. They were friends from the university days. Alfred was from a very poor family and it was Mr Charles parents that sponsored his education under the scholarship organization.
The two have been very good friends. Mr Alfred was more like an obedient puppy before Mr Charles parents then before they both retired and went to the States to settle down.
Mr Alfred thought he was going to become the CEO of the company because he was close to Mr Charles parents but he was shocked and angry that everything went to Mr Charles.
Mr Charles promoted him to the chief director but Alfred wasn't satisfied. He wanted the company to himself.
"You deserve to be in charge you know. The company in Letsby, his wife is even in charge." The assistant manager concured.
Mr Alfred and the company's assistant manager Mr Vincent were close friends, more like 'partners in crime'.
"If they die, I think I'll have the right then to claim the company." Mr Alfred smirked.
"But you know they have a daughter and I think she's likely going to take over the company someday," Mr Vincent said.
"She's still a child you know. I'm sure she's barely fourteen. She shouldn't be a problem." Alfred smiled slyly.
"You're right."

"Hi Adrian, I brought you coca-cola drink. Hope you wouldn't mind?" Adrienne asked softly like a very nice girl.
It's been a week since the two enemies had a fight or argument. It was quiet between them.
Adrian was surprised but happy too. He believed that Adrienne had changed and wanted to be friends with him.
It made his ego big as she was the first to approach him.
"Sure, thank you." Adrian nodded his head. Adrienne kept on her sweet smile as she kept the drink on his table and started to walk back to her seat.
"Do you perhaps want me to open it for you?" Adrienne turned to ask.
Adrian raised his head from the book he was reading and looked at her surprisingly.
This new Adrienne was surprising.
"You can, thanks." He finally replied.
Adrienne smirked and pulled open the string of the coca-cola can and the content poured on Adrian's body.
"Oh my bad! Sorry!" Adrienne mocked and laughed.
The students turned to look at Adrian and chuckled.
It turned out that Adrienne had shook the coca-cola drink to make it pour on Adrian-it was deliberate.
"Things were too quiet between us and I hated it." Adrienne smirked as she sat down.
Jasmine and Sofia smiled while Sam shook her head sadly.
"But I thought things were finally okay between the both of you," Sam said.
"Things can never be okay between the two of us okay?" Adrienne frowned.
"But don't you think it's time to call your fight a truce?" Jas suggested. Adrienne glared at her without saying anything.
Adrian was so furious that he felt like pulling Adrienne's hair. He thought she had truly changed and wanted to be friends with him.
He couldn't believe that he was deceived by her fake smile. She was really a good actress.
"Are you okay?" Fred, his new friend asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll just go to the restroom," Adrian said and stood up from his seat. He walked up to Adrienne and leaned closer to her ear and whispered some words in her ear.
Adrienne felt goosebumps as he spoke into her ear. When he was done, he smirked at her and walked out of the classroom.
The students focused their attention on the stunned Adrienne. They were taken aback by the sudden approach of Adrian and they wondered what he had whispered in her ear.
"What did Adrian whisper in your ear?" Jasmine could not help but get curious.
"You seem very happy right? Just know you started it and I'll do worse. And just so you know, I was the one behind the cockroach in your locker." Adrienne quoted staring into space.
"What! He really said that? How could he do something that horrible to you?" Sam sighed angrily.
Adrienne didn't say anything but just continued to stare into space.

"This is my daughter, Adrienne." Adrienne's mother introduced Adrienne to a group of rich women.
It was the D-Day for the anniversary of the company and she had attended.
Other wealthy kids were there too and she was the most beautiful teenage girl there. Her hair was simply but neatly packed in a ponytail.
Her purple flared and off the shoulder gown was elegant, her makeup was very light but beauty.
She had a small Calvin Klein purse in her hand and her silver high heeled shoe sparkled. Her necklace, ring and bracelet were diamond.
"Hi." Adrienne smiled and greeted some women.
Her mother took her to the vip section and introduced her to the very wealthy and prominent men.
"Hello sir, ma." Adrienne bowed lightly with a smile.
They were about ten people in the vip table and her eyes suddenly caught with someone.
She gasped in shock that the glass cup in her hand fell and broke.
