Chapter 6 Help Is Coming

Dylan chuckled as he stood up. He walked over to the balcony and opened the door. The sun is bright outside and he could feel some rays warming his bare shoulders after the heavy rain, though the weather still chilly

A breeze entered the room. He closed the door of the balcony behind him before letting out a sigh of happiness.

This is heaven. It is like heaven.

He felt warm and contented. He looks so ordinary yet powerful. Dylan could be himself behind closed doors.

He looked down and saw his maids doing one thing or the other.

This is the story of his life, where nothing new happens.

Then all of sudden, there was a knock on the door.

Dylan turned around, only to find Austin through the glassy door, standing and shivering at the same time. His expression clouded and he beckoned on him to come.

Austin opened the balcony door with shaky hands and stepped in still shivering.

"I am so sure you have not become a leaf to be shivering the way you are doing right now"

Dylan said coolly then glanced at Austin casually before turning his back on him.

"I need a message, get down to it"

He ordered and Austin nodded and left wordlessly.

*******

In an old house in the middle of nowhere, a middle aged couple are sitting on the couch drinking coffee when suddenly a knock interrupts their peaceful Evening.

The wife stood up to get the door while the husband remained seated.

The door opened revealing a lady in a cloak shivering. By the look of it, she has been drenched by the rain.

"Juliet, what are you doing here at this time of the day inside the rain?"

The cold chills that accompanied the voice sent shivers down Juliet's vein.

She can't believe her mother would be asking her a question instead of letting her come in.

"How the hell did my relationship with them get to this point?"

She asked herself.

"Your silence can't be an answer to my question, can it?"

Her mother, the lady that opened the door, questioned viciously.

The last person they expect to see right now is their prodigal daughter. A young woman whom her mother had hoped would settle down and have a steady life with a nice family but what did she do? she married someone who could not give a her future despite their warnings

"Oh, you are tongue tied to say your mission here? Or let me guess, you are here to ask for help"

Her mother could not stop taunting her.

Juliet's hands balled into fist at her sides as tears started to fall down her cheeks. She wiped away her tears furiously.

Seeing the way she was welcomed, Juliet knew her mission would not be fruitful.

"What was I thinking? That coming here, looking pitiful, they will have a change of heart towards me. The only crime I committed is marrying Chris. Loving him is my only crime"

She thought and slowly left her family house without asking for help from her parents.

"It is of no use"

She told herself as she walked home dejected and angry.

All the places she has gone to ask for help, no one has looked her way and when she had thought of giving up, her parents had crossed her mind. Her instincts had told her that coming to her family house would be a waste of time but she had thought of giving it a trial yet her instincts proved her wrong once again

She was lost in her thoughts until someone called her name.

Jumping up, she realized she had already arrived home.

Looking at her surroundings again, she noticed how empty it seemed. Chris was standing at the front of the house, probably waiting for her.

Chris saw the look on her face and knew she had not succeeded.

"Why don't you ask your boss for money, even if it is lending, he will sure help"

Something at the back of his mind said and he shook his head.

"You seem to forget who Dylan Davonn is. A dare devil with no sense of human sympathy."

He replied himself then paused when he remembered the incident earlier.

"What if I ask him and he really helped? He is kind of a human today. What is the worst that can happen, a NO would not be the end of me."

He concluded and fished out his phone from his pocket.

The phone is as cold as his palm.

A ring, two, thrice and a deep baritone voice picked it.

"I am wondering why you are not in the mansion or have you fired yourself?"

Dylan said over the phone. His voice alone is ready to give Chris a heart attack.

If he hears it again, Chris is afraid it will kill him.

His eyes grew big and his legs gave out but he caught himself.

If the ground opens up right now, will he still stand on it?

Chris regained his composure then said in a low tune.

"Sir, I need help?"

"What sort of help?"

Chris was shocked that his boss could ask him that question. Chris was expecting him to hang up on him.

"My son needs medical attention and I don't have money, can you lend me some money, I will pay back as soon as I can."

"I need you at the mansion right now and as for the help, I am sending a doctor."

And the call went off without a beep. Juliet had heard everything and shock was written all over her.

Chris stood rooted at his spot. He was not believing what he just heard. His boss helped him. He could not be dreaming?

"Honey pinch me"

Juliet could not do otherwise and when the sting from the pinch registered in his brain, he realized he was not dreaming.

He kissed his wife fully on the lips and ran out.

"Help is coming"

He yelled as he ran out. His boss for once in his life behaved like a human.

"God bless today"
