Chapter 8 The Love Poem

Christy addressed them and asked each of them to write 20 pages each on Kenya's culture, and they have two days to submit it in her email.

With pictures for reference, and how Kenya's cultures has affected the world positively.

She will write 20 pages too and they will submit it to Mr. David on Saturday.

After the meeting, she went to the school canteen to take her lunch.

She ordered for fried Rice and spiced chicken. She called Joel to come and meet her but he told him that they were doing practicals.

She asked if she could join them but Joel told her that only people in his grown are allowed to be there.

So, she ate her food and went to the library to probably look for books by Kenya's author. She searched but her search was unfruitful. So she went online, and made use of her Google.

She jots some things down, later she would call her mother to confirm her points before she would start writing about it.

When she was done with her research's she called Joel again to know if he was through, he picked and told her that they are still painting.

So, she decided to stroll down to the music department.

When she got there, she met her new friend; sitting on the spot she performed the poem.

Ruth was very happy when she saw Christy coming, when Christy got there, she stood up and gave her a smooth hug as she said "I thought you will not come today"

"Oh, I don't usually come here. That day was actually my first since I came to this school, I loved the experience and that's why I'm here today" Christy said as she sat down.

"Look at this, I wrote this last night. How is it? Ruth said as she handed her the paper.

"Okay let's read it first" Christy said as she read it out.

The poem reads

My Love,

I see your face in every sunrise

You beam with light that shines and glows like gold

When God said let there be light, he was referring to you

And when God think about what will make me happy

He made you for me.

I love you today and in every tomorrow.

Stay with me, let's grow old together."

"Wow!" Christy shouted in Amazement.

"Now, this is a lovely poem you got here"

Christy commended her.

"Thank You" Ruth said and smiled.

"So, tell me about this prince charming that gave you the inspiration to write this beautiful poem. Do you mind? Christy asked.

"No, I don't mind" Ruth replied.

"Audrey, is his name. We grew up together. He's my first love and I have lived all my life loving him. We attend same basic school and college. And we applied to same University but it didn't work out. He's now studying law at the University of Canada, they relocated to Canada, still he wanted to be here with me in the Citadel University but his name didn't come out. He applied to the University of Canada same year and he was offered admission. So, he's studying law there while I'm studying Music here.

I still love him so much, he has promised to visit me here once there school session for the year ends.

I can't wait to see him again, I love him so much and I can do anything to keep him" Ruth said.

" Awwwwwn, what a sweet story of love. I love, seeing young people in love make me happy" Christy said.

"Thank you, so you think we could end up as a couple? " Ruth asked.

"Yes, maybe, maybe not. It's a 50/50 , the thing there is people change. And change is the only constant thing. You both might love each other today and decided to be apart next year, the thing is, if you both can be as committed as you are now, then you can probably be couple in a few years. Yes! I think so, because a time will come when you feel like the love is fading, but it's the commitment that will keep you going" Christy said.

"No, I don't think my love for Audrey can ever fade. No, nothing can change what I feel for him" Ruth reassured Christy

"Really, even when you found out that he's cheating on you with some white girls? " Christy asked.

"No no! Audrey isn't like that; he can't do that to me." Ruth said.

"Okay, if you say so! I wish you both well" Christy said.

" Thank you, and I hope you would attend my wedding someday" Ruth she said and smiles

"Yes, you are my daughter now, I can't miss my daughter's big day" Christy said as they both smiles at each other.

"So, which poem are you performing today? Ruth asked

"I didn't really come to perform anything, I'm writing my project, so I just came around to cool my head and think about what to write, Again, I'm not a spoken word artist.

I just did that because my man requested for it, I'm a writer. I write stories for blog and poems too." Christy explained.

"Wow! And you did it so perfectly that day, don't you think you should invest more time in it. Spoken word artist are being paid huge amount of money just to perform some lines of poems." Ruth suggested.

"I will, maybe after my project defense. That's the only thing on my neck right now" Christy said.

"Ok, i wish you success on that"

"Thank you baby" Christy replied as she path her.

Christy's phone rang and she picked it. It was Joel calling.

Asking her where he was. They had just finished making the paintings and he wanted her to come and see it.

So, she told him that she was at the music department and he asked her to rush to the painting room.

She went with Ruth, when they got there, they saw the painting.

When you see it at first, you would think that it was a Tiger, even if you look closely, you still won't notice that it was human beings that was being painted with colors of tiger skin and made them pose like tiger.
