Chapter 9 What The Heck Was She Doing There

Alpha Grey POV

Chicago

I felt a roar snarling up in my chest at the sight of watching her suffer from the pains in her swollen legs. I watched her from the mirror, she curled up in the back seat like prey, I can smell her great fear washing over her like a pour down.

I gave my hand a right turn on the steering, pcking the black truck in front of the Mart-packing lot, she bumped her forehead against the back seat as I dragged the break to halt the car.

The driving hadn't sickened her, but the number of head bumping she had got was irritating enough. The inconvenience was owed to the gallop on the roads, and the pot scraps holes disguised by snowflakes.

She only lifted her face, after the heating of the engine laid to rest. Only then did she realise how icy the temperature outside and in the car was when the heat of the Truck decelerated.

Unexpectedly, I wedge the brown boxes falling from the back with my hands, they attempted to fall on her face. She curled herself in the leather seat, tucked her shoulder shrinking into the thick coat she was wearing, she rounded up like the creatures going into a hibernation state during this winter season.

'' Let's get out." I reached my hands to her standing on the cold snow while I waited for her to grab hold of my hands. She did, she grabbed my hands and shriek out from the fact that she couldn't stand up, grabbing the black gloves as it pulled along with her frozen hands.

She was mute, and that hadn't reduced her anxiety, it smells so strong. Why was she behaving this way? Does she think I'm a beast because she has seen me kill? Killing those rogues and those foolish men chasing her?

" What is your name?" I asked.

She raised her head, " Daisie Collin," she said with her pale lips.

I entered the car, and sat beside her, snatching one of the boxes on my lap. I remember I had an extra pair of black gloves in the boxes where I had packed some of my stuff to spend a week or two at the wood musk neighbourhood. I hadn't spent up to a week until she made me return.

'' Ease up, give me your hands." I pulled her hands out of the thick snow coats, they were bruised and frozen like an ice cube, and she looks so fragile and paled. She looks starved too.

I felt uncomfortable at the perception of her fear, it was excess and it could do her bad. Other wolves might take advantage of her fragility, just saying. But no one dares to touch wants mine, she would be safe as long as she is in my arms.

Daisie rubbed her hands together as she lubricated it for more heat. She had thought her pack was cold, but here it was fucking freezing, her thick coat hasn't matched the cold.

'' Let's get inside, the cold is harmful.'' I carried her in my arms, she looks thin, and I underestimated her weight, she weighs thick but you wouldn't know from her slim body shape. I shut the door of the car with a kick from my back foot.

The door opened and I climbed the four minor stairs into the entrance of the living room. Of course, the door hadn't opened by itself, Charles pushed it open and wedged at it till I got Daisie's legs inside completely.

'' Where is Sage?'' I first dropped Daisie on the bed, she laid and cover up her face with the coat, yes she was that shy and also scared.

'' She would be here soon, she had someone to attend to. The person is hurt too, she told me. She would show up in a jiffy,'' Charles crossed his hands at the back of him. '' Has she fallen asleep?'' he strained his neck to stare at the overly nervous girl. I was unknowingly blocking her from Charles.

Sage is a herbalist, not just a herbalist she was someone who was advanced in medicine. Apart from the knowledge, she has some powers supporting her that makes her perfect at what she does. Then what the heck was taking her so long to treat JUST. A PATIENT. since the past 3 hours I had sent Charles home first?

'' Charles get Sage here, tell her to leave whoever she is treating, my mate, is more important. She is dying of pain.'' I heaved as I swivelled my back to stare at the girl, who seem to have truly fallen asleep.

'' Should I make it sound like an order? Then they would have to know that you are back in Chicago.'' Charles spoke boldly, yet his lips seemed to be fighting with the words out of his mouth, dropping his eyes on the floor.

'' Is that important to you now? Get Sage here!" I sneered. Charles barged out of the house without looking at me the second time, he obviously wouldn't try to get in my way, knowing fully well what have been up to these past days.

She pulled her legs painfully as she flinched when I tried to touched her legs, then I knew how much pain she was going through right now.

The wounds are get pretty messy and murky, the melted hole in the leg is bad and was going rotten. Shit, I can't bear to see the pains exhibiting on her face, the hole the stick caused was even deeper than the damage already in her legs.

She made a quirky sound as she opened her heavy swollen eyes. '' Are you okay?'' I asked touching the skin on her neck to feel her pulse, I don't know exactly where the pulse is, but I did touch mom in her neck and her wrist when I wanted to feel the temperature of her body.

Daisie just stared deadly at me and hurt, she gave me that look that says stay-away-from-me who-are-you?

I cracked a little smile on my lips which was very rare for me, she dragged the blanket to her chest, and even if she didn't speak of the cold killing her, I understood. Arranging the blanket around her properly, a vibe emitted from her it felt as though she should just melt away.

Before Sage and Charles showed up, let me get my boxes back into my room. The fashion and the painting on the walls had all gotten dusts on them and cobwebs, ah I left the house for the second owners__of course spiders and dry dust contributed to paying the bills of the bungalow.

I shifted away from her before standing up, taking off my black boots full of melted snow and dropping them on the tiled floor, pushing the shoes far towards the edge of my room.

Daisie stared at the living room, she darted her gaze as she has never seen a house this wide and well furnished, even though she hasn't practised using her nose well, she could recognise the smell of little wealth, her eyes fell on the dinner table, a wooden table. At least she hadn't gotten such a table as solid as it appeared to be from the distance she saw it.

She grabbed my hands as I was about to walk out of her sight, already on warm footwear for the cold. '' Where is this?'' She said dropping her eyes from my Blue fleeks. I felt her hands very chilled, my eyes met her hazel green eyes before she dropped them again. She has thin lips but they were damaged with cuts on them, and blood clotting busted out.

'' Chicago, in Moon peak pack.'' I responded, if someone had held my hands this way as she did, just the heat from my eyes would make them drop their hands, but not her- it was different when it comes to her, only her has access to touch me.

'' Who are you?'' she asked the second time, and I took a long look at her, god knows how much anger I feel inside of me when I see those cuts on her lips.

'' I am your mate, and you are mine.'' I brushed her hair and she shoved it off slowly.

'' M..mate?'' She had a sudden shutter, followed by hiccups. Her human heart hadn't believed it, but the wolf inside of her had confirmed my words.

I continued to stare at her, I almost uttered another word when the door flung open, it was Charles and Sage. '' You both took so long.'' I grumbled.

'' Who is she?'' Sage asked as she rushed in and leaned on the bed close to Daisie.

I raised both hands to my waist '' She is now part of the Morgans.'' I snapped at her.

'' She is you mate?'' She looked doubtful and at the smell coming from Daisie, she glanced at me and back at Daisie. Maybe it was her nose faulty? What is that smell? She thought.

'' Sage get to work, don't waste any more time she is already in a lot of pain.'' I blurted as I back her, ignoring whatever expression she gave on her face, turning my gaze back towards Charles.

'' Watch over her, I need to get my stuff from the car.'' I glared at him and he understood it, Charles of all people knows the level of trust I have for everyone in this pack, I don't trust anyone apart from him, not even my Father.

I used this as an opportunity to step out of the house while Sage worked on Daisie's wounds, I couldn't bear to see her experiencing so much pain.

So I had better step out of the house than to see her cry. I am yet to find out what wounded her, why did she mention that she doesn't want to suffer anymore back in the woods?

I was dead curious about her, I moved away from the door after I had started hearing her scream. I moved 10 yards away from the cottage, forgetting my destination was the car. I couldn't suppress the urge to hurt someone -something as her cries made my blood hot. Dammit..
