Chapter 6 Realization

I sat on my bed. I could not believe what just happened.

I made Grayson, my boss, tell me a very personal story about himself.

All I could think about was that hug, his smell, feeling his body against mine. Just thinking about it, my heart started racing again. Thoughts of that night started flashing through my mind and I needed to know. I needed to know if I am crazy or if that really was him.

I emailed the front desk of my apartment to see if they could get me security footage from that night. I closed my laptop just as there was a knock on my door. To my surprise it was Grayson.

"Have you eaten yet?" He asked this as if nothing had just happened. I could still see the tear I dropped on his fresh white shirt from when I hugged him not long ago. I said nothing and just walked out of the hotel room.

We sat at a table in the hotel bar and ordered food.

We actually had great conversation and laughed a lot. It was weird to hear him laugh. I didn't think he was even capable of laughing. Seeing him like this reminded me of the man I had an unforgettable night with.

"Are you sure we have never met before?" I asked him.

He looked me in the eyes and said, "Not that I can recall.”

It was getting late, and we had another long day ahead of us, so we needed to get some sleep.

We got in the elevator and both reached for the button at the same. When our hands touched it felt like electricity shooting up my arm. I recognized this feeling and I felt like he did too as we both pulled our hands back quickly.

My face felt so hot as all I could think about was ripping all of his clothes off and having my way with him, right there in the elevator.

We said nothing all the way up. As soon as the doors of the elevator opened, I said "goodnight" and shut the door before he could answer. I didn't want him to see how flustered I was after our hands touched. He keeps denying that we have met before, but I could not shake the feeling that it was him!

Luckily, sleep did not elude me last night. We had another full day of meetings and I needed to be on top of my game today.

I met Grayson downstairs in the lobby. We immediately got into the car to start our day.

Grayson felt very distant. I thought after a good evening together, we would have a better relationship, but I was wrong.

I kept checking my email to see if my apartment had sent over the security footage yet.

I realized it was crazy to think this man, a successful business owner, who was undeniably handsome would be my one night stand. He could be with any woman he wanted. He would not have chosen me. I just needed the confirmation so I could stop fantasizing about him. Because, when I see him, all I can do is remember him when he was naked on top of me. His body was that of a Greek god. It was such a passionate night and honestly unforgettable. My face started heating up and my heart started racing thinking about it.

I needed to get proof it wasn't him so I could stop thinking this way about MY BOSS! I realized I was too distracted and needed to focus on work, so I took my laptop out and started working.

It was another very long work day and I was glad to be back at the hotel.

Grayson had an important meeting at the hotel bar with a client. He excused me for the day as I did not need to attend it. I was ecstatic cause I was exhausted.

I opened the door and immediately threw myself on the bed. My feet were tired, and it felt so good. As I lay there, I grabbed my phone to check my messages and email. I sat up quickly when I noticed my apartment emailed me the security tape.

I opened up the file and pressed play.

The moment of truth, I will now see the face of my one night stand.

I watched the video intently. My hands were shaking and I was barely able to keep my phone still.

Then I saw the moment we walked in and saw his face. It was GRAYSON! I was stunned.

This whole time he made me think that we never met.

He hired me because he saw my interview tape which means he knew who I was when he saved me in the alley. Was he following me that night? Most importantly, why did he lie about all of this! All I knew was that I was getting answers.

I stormed out of my room and headed towards the hotel bar.

At this point I did not care if he was with a client.

There he was, no surprise that his meeting was with a beautiful woman.

I walked up to them and told him very loudly "I need to talk to you now!"

He turned to me and the look he gave me, scared me half to death and I was instantly regretting my assertiveness.

The woman turned to look at me and quickly asked Grayson who I was. "She is my assistant and apparently does not understand her boundaries." Grayson told this woman through gritted teeth.

He was clearly angry with me, but I was that much angrier with him.

"Ms. Jones, are you trying to get fired? I don't quite understand what makes you think you can and interrupt me when I am with a very important client! Can you please explain yourself?" he asked.

I thought about what to say next, very carefully. "Remember the client you recently met but couldn't remember who she was? Well, she sent over security video of that night to jog your memory."

He quickly understood what I was implying. He turned to this woman and simply said "Excuse me.”

He grabbed my arm and pulled me to the elevator quickly.
