Chapter 5 Golden wolf, silver cage

"Oh, and tonight's party isn't really a celebration. It's an auction," says Alpha Jack. "We're selling the right to mate with you to the highest bidders. There probably won't be another gold wolf born, but the some of the gifts can be passed on. The pups won't be as strong as you can be, but we want it that way," he says with a smile. "And don't get any ideas about escaping because the mating happens here, with us watching to be sure the pups you have are what the buyer gets."

I'm shaking severely. I don't know if I'm in shock or terror. This is my own father. Though he never treated me as a daughter he should have felt at least something for me. I guess I should have realized I was nothing to him long before now. I wait to feel my heart break, but,the only thing I feel is utter despair. Unfortunately my empathy gift starts to kick in right then. And I start to feel happy. Wait, happy. Why would I be happy?

" You're gift is starting," Adira says. " You're feeling happy because you're disgusting father is happy. He's absolutely giddy about all the money you'll bring to this pack. He's already got plans on where and how to spend the money he gets to treat you like a breeder," she growls in my head. "We've got to find a way out," I say, but I was a moment too late. I hear the double timber of an Alpha command. "Shift now, Renata," he roars. Apparently there is something more painful than the first shift, as I don't have time to relax or prepare before I'm in wolf form on the ground. As I'm forced to shift, I don't have time to remove my clothes. I think I passed out for a second due to the pain. Next thing I notice, I'm in wolf form, strangled by my clothes. I don't even have the energy to do anything about it. "Oh I wish I could shove his command up his ass. That bitch hurt," snarls Adira. I can only whimper in response.

"Get this on her so she can't shift back. An Alpha command to shift can only work so many times, and I want the buyer to see what they're paying for," Alpha Jack says as he tosses a silver harness to Beta Eric. Silver doesn't hurt our human form as much as it does our wolf form. As long as it's a quick touch there's no affect. Beta Eric however will have to touch the harness long enough to put it on me. I see my chance to run while he's gloving up. I haul myself up to run, but Alpha Jack was prepared. I ran out the door, right into a silver cage. "Goddess, you must not have gotten the smart gift yet," said Alpha Jack gleefully. "You put yourself right where I really wanted you. On display." He laughs

"Get this golden egg to the pack hall. Make sure she's in the best spot to see as soon as people enter. Make sure she's well guarded. I don't want any sneak peeks," says Alpha Jack. The pack members start hooking chains to my cage and drag it the pack house meeting hall. The hall can hold up to 500 people when there is an inter-pack event such as new Alpha or Luna ceremonies, mating ceremonies, or birth announcements. I see that all the tables are removed as they settle my cage right in the middle of the room. My father must have started clearing the hall out the moment he learned what I was. The only furniture left behind is the one thing not meant to be here, a large bed being assembled in the corner.

"He's really going to make you mate in front of everyone. What a sick fuck your so-called father is," Adira growls. "The Moon Goddess should strip him of his powers and rank. Then he'll know how it feels to be treated like dirt." "I gave up hoping he'll treat me like a daughter a long time ago. But now I've lost hope on even being treated as a member of the pack. They may not have treated me well, but at least I wasn't treated worse than a dog, er wolf whatever," I reply calmly. My only hope now is that whoever shows up will argue to take me with them. It's the only thing I have left, besides Adira. Thank the Moon Goddess no one can take her away from me.

Since the cage is so small, we can only curl up in the middle to avoid the silver bars. We try to pull out shredded clothes off to be more comfortable, but keep hitting the silver bars. They're more painful in wolf form. People start arriving and someone throws a blanket over the cage. "Alpha says to guard the cage with your life," I hear a gentle voice say. "No one is talk about what's been seen here today. Your Alpha had commanded it. He didn't announce what the meeting was about since he wants it to be a surprise," the voice continues. "No one is to touch my daughter until it's time to start the bidding," Luna Rachel says in the same gentle voice. But the Alpha Command is still carried in the gentleness. My mom is a pro at making a gentle voice a command that can't be ignored. I can't believe even my mother is going along with this crazy idea. She never treated me like a daughter, but she was never cruel either. Just indifferent in the fact that she pretended I didn't exist.

The voices start to get louder and multiply. I try to filter out who I recognize and who I don't. I recognize a couple of voices, but don't remember who they belong to. I'm pretty sure they're not pack. Must be from a local pack to have arrived here so quickly.
