Chapter 6 The Name Sounds So Familiar

After being rejected, Rufus became deeply hurt and wanted to ask for a second chance.

But in the end, all his words got stuck in his throat, and he lowered his head in misery.

Now that she had cleared things up, Eunice said indifferently, "I have to go now." Then she turned around and walked away.

Feeling desperate, Rufus called out her name to beg her to stay, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

Noticing Eunice's curvy figure as she slowly disappeared into the elevator, Estrella became jealous that her own body was not as attractive. Aside from Rufus' affection towards Eunice, this caused her to hate her half-sister even more.

"Just wait and see, Eunice. I will make your life a living hell," Estrella whispered under her breath.

She then changed her mood and said to Rufus, "Rufus, is your business meeting over now? Why don't we have a meal together? I know just the perfect restaurant."

The reason why Estrella was in the area in the first place was to look for Rufus. Knowing that he attended a meeting there, she wanted to drop by at the hotel and surprise him, hoping to finally get a chance to sleep with him that night.

"In case you haven't noticed, I'm not in the mood. Go away." Rufus pushed Estrella aside and strode towards the hotel gate. There was a more pressing concern that required his utmost attention.

It was Eunice. He needed to find a way to make her fall in love with him.

Since their pre-arranged marriage would not push through, he would then chase after her to win her heart. In the end, he hoped to marry her.

After giving it some thought, Rufus believed that the plan was indeed feasible. He decided to woo Eunice until she developed feelings for him. In his mind, it was only a matter of time until she agreed to be his wife.

Later that evening, Eunice took her son to a restaurant near the hotel and met up with Delia.

Seeing her dear friend approach her table, Delia quickly stood up and happily hugged Eunice and Brent.

"Oh my goodness, Brent! You're such a big boy now. Come over here and give me a hug." Grinning widely, Delia opened her arms and beckoned her cute godson to embrace her.

"Hello, Delia!" Brent was ecstatic to see her after a long time. He put his arms around her neck and planted sweet kisses on her cheek.

Chuckling in amusement, Delia patted the little boy's head affectionately. She always loved seeing him.

While waiting for the food to be served, Delia kept chatting and playing with Brent. The two spent the time bonding, and Eunice soon felt she was left out in the cold.

But they were the closest people to her heart. Even though she was slightly jealous, seeing them happy in each other's company still pleased Eunice.

During the meal, Delia turned her attention to Eunice while taking care of Brent.

"So, aren't you going to share what happened at the Frazier Group office today?" Delia asked with a smile.

In a few minutes, Eunice told her everything, including her fateful encounter in the cafe.

When Eunice finished speaking, Delia's jaw dropped in disbelief.

"Okay, so let me get this straight. In order to take over the Frazier Group, you have to marry this strange man?" Engrossed with the topic, Delia leaned in close and raised her eyebrows.

Nodding her head, Eunice continued to explain, "Although it does sound ridiculous to marry a stranger, the man is handsome and is willing to accept Brent. If everything goes well, then we could live with him in the future."

After assessing the situation, Delia slowly accepted the facts. She nodded in approval and said, "Well, that's good. Since he seems like a great catch, you can try to develop a strong relationship with him after the marriage. As long as you and Brent are happy, everything will be fine."

Eunice was uncertain if good things were coming her way. But she had a hopeful feeling in her heart that her life was looking up this time, so she agreed with Delia's remarks.

While they were busy talking, Brent ate his food and listened attentively to their conversation. He was confused by what he heard and immediately asked, "Mommy, am I going to have a daddy?"

In the past, Brent had asked his mother where his father was, wondering why he didn't have a father while the other kids did. Eunice simply replied that she didn't know.

Since the identity of his biological father was still a mystery, and Eunice just mentioned that she was going to marry a guy and live with him, it seemed that Brent would have his own daddy very soon.

Hearing her son's innocent question, Eunice struggled to find the right words.

At the end of the day, Brent was not Rodney's biological son. But after he married Eunice, the pair would become a legal couple, making Rodney her child's father.

Sensing that Eunice didn't know what to say, Delia quickly chimed in, "Of course! You are going to live with your mommy and daddy very soon. How does that sound?"

"Pretty awesome! I'm so happy." Brent flashed a toothy grin.

Seeing her son smile at that idea made Eunice very pleased. It seemed too good to be true at first, but she gradually believed that Rodney would be her child's father in the future.

Enjoying their quality time together, the trio continued to chat, eat, and have fun over dinner.

Suddenly, Delia sat straight and tapped on Eunice's hand. "Hey, wait a minute. Your future husband's name is Rodney Lawson, right? The name sounds so familiar. I think I have seen it in an issue of People Weekly magazine."
