Chapter 4 Are You A Virgin

Complicated emotions flashed through Casey's eyes. "The Stevenson family should be more willing to choose you over Rosina."

Rebecca was stunned. What did her mother mean?

Two hours later, Rebecca, Casey, and Casey's current husband, Howard Lynch, were sitting in the private room they had booked in advance.

The man sitting opposite Rebecca was Martin Stevenson.

Martin had a good-looking and even sharp face, but there was an unmistakable coldness about him.

And his empty, glassy eyes didn't match the rest of his handsome face.

A lady wearing exquisite makeup was sitting next to Martin. She was Grace Stevenson, Martin's mother.

She had been silently observing Rebecca since she sat down, which made Rebecca a little uncomfortable.

Biting her lip, Rebecca shifted in her seat, but her waist was so sore that she couldn't help frowning and taking a deep breath.

"That's our situation. What do you think, Grace? Rosina is willful and arrogant. I'm afraid that she can't take good care of Martin. After thinking it over, I think Rebecca is a better fit," said Casey.

Grace smiled and said, "Rebecca, right? I think you're very beautiful, dear, and I liked you the moment I saw you. You're young, but you've already encountered so many hardships. I'm so sorry for you. It's noble and selfless of you to take care of your disabled husband. I wish you can do the same for Martin and the two of you can live a happy life."

Rebecca felt strange. Logically speaking, any mother who had her son's best interest at heart wouldn't agree to such an arrangement. Why did Grace have a different attitude?

As far as Rebecca knew, Grace was the first wife of the head of the Stevenson family, and Martin and his younger brother were her biological children.

"But the final decision is still up to Martin. What do you think, dear? What do you think of Rebecca? Do you think she'll make a good wife for you?"

Everyone's eyes fell on Martin.

The cold expression on his face remained, and although Martin couldn't see, he seemed to be aware of Rebecca sitting in front of him. He slightly raised his head and spoke in her direction.

"Your husband is Yosef Swain, huh? I heard that Yosef's lower body had been paralyzed in a car accident that happened before you two wedded. Rebecca, I want to know if you are still a virgin."

Rebecca froze and blood rushed to her cheeks. She felt extremely embarrassed. Did Martin ask such a question on purpose in front of so many people?

He did it right after what happened last night.

Casey hurriedly said, "Rebecca-"

Before she could finish her sentence, Rebecca cut in, "No."

Everyone looked at Rebecca at the same time. Rebecca clenched her fists and repeated through gritted teeth, "No."

"No?" Martin smiled evilly. "Yosef is disabled, and you're no longer a virgin. Does that mean you cheated on your husband?"

Gnashing her teeth together, Rebecca was convinced that Martin was questioning her like this on purpose. He was doing it to humiliate her.

Why?

She and Martin didn't know each other.

Was it because Casey brought her here instead of Rosina?

Rebecca lowered her eyes and said in a trembling voice, "Yosef has recovered."

She neither confirmed nor denied Martin's question.

"Oh? Really?"

Grace tried to smooth things over in a hurry. "Well, Martin, you can talk about it with Rebecca in private. The past is the past. It doesn't matter anymore. What's important is that Rebecca has good character and looks. I think she's a great young woman."

Martin's lips gradually curled into a mocking grin. "That's right. Rebecca has good looks and conduct. If it weren't for her messy past, I wouldn't have the chance to be with her. I suppose it's settled. I'll marry her."

Martin regained his casualness. "But I just met her. I want to spend some time with her alone and get to know her better. Also, I will take care of the Swain family. She has to divorce Yosef first. I don't want people to think that I forcefully take a married woman away from her husband."

Casey said happily, "That will be best. Rebecca, get along well with Martin, okay?"

As Casey spoke, she winked at Rebecca, her eyes full of hints. Then, she turned to Grace. "Grace, shall we have a cup of tea together?"

Rebecca bit her lip, her face drained of color. She was left behind again.
