Chapter 5: Delivery Girl

At the McCain Limited company, Derek has been behaving very weird and his friend observed it.

"Derek, did you have contact with someone? Did you fall in love?"

He was caught off guard by the question.

"What in the world are you talking about?"

"You have been staring at this book for a long time, and look at what you wrote, tempting lips, cute face....."

"Oh, it's a project," he said lying, he didn't know he spent his moment thinking about her.

"You know you aren't supposed to be seen in the open, so where did you meet her?"

"I didn't meet anyone, I was just jogging when I bumped into a lady and apologized, that's all, I doubt if she saw my face because I was wearing my hood too."

He later remembered he wasn't wearing a hood and he couldn't bring himself to tell Lewis.

"Much better, I told your mom, I will join her in search of a bride that will stay but can we change the rule on the paper?"

Lewis suggested after going through the contract over and over again while he was home.

"No way, we need to let any of my supposed brides be aware of what they are about to sign, I don't want to place someone's daughter in bondage you know."

He explained the very reason he wanted it unchanged, but Lewis was against it.

"But it's not working Derek, it is not working at all, take a look at this, for instance "

He had his sit using his hand gestures on the desk," we find you a lady, very easy, she heard you are the only son of McCain and got gifted with a huge sum of money for agreeing to meet up with you, accepting she will get married to you."

"On norms, any girl in their right mind will want to dive in the opportunity to be with you and answer your name. Lastly, the moment they go through the contract, they back out."

Derek dropped the pen he held.

"So at the end of the day, you make a whole lot of sense, the money already blinded them, but still don't you feel it is still wrong? I might feel guilty as well, unable to cope with someone that's just after my money."

"Derek, remember you once had a first love who left you? I know you despise love as well, but you need to get an heir urgently so who cares if the lady we set for you to marry doesn't love you but your money, who damn cares? You are already settled with money when you get the child, that's all."

"You know what I hate so much about you? You are such a smooth talker and you also know how to buy your way into things."

"That's why you need me in everything you do, I am your best friend and also a person your mother trusts to be able to guide and help you out always."

"Thank you for always being here for me, still you have to give me more time to think about what you said in taking out the truth section."

"Sure you have all the time to think about it and it's also for your good, so don't overstress your thinking, it's not really good for your health," Lewis advised.

"Thank you, I have a project meeting to attend, but I don't want to go, I feel annoyed in my spirit to go, so kindly attend it for me and give me every single detail on how everything went,"

Derek got on his feet handling the necessary document to him and Lewis took it from him.

"Yes, I will handle it out very well, I guess I just have 30 minutes to get there, I will start leaving now and make sure you don't skip your medication when it's time."

"I won't, bye now,"

Derek made sure he left completely and spoke to himself, "Who is this strange girl that has taken over my day at work? I can't stop thinking about her, mostly her tempting lips."

He placed his right hand in his trouser pocket with the left hands caressing his hair," Whoever she is, I hope I get the opportunity to see her again,"

He called his secretary with his office phone on his desk.

"Miranda my office now."

"Yes, boss."

She walked in quickly, "Sir here I am and what duty should I carry out for you?" She asked politely.

"I want to see how far you have gone on the documents you received last Thursday right now."

"Bo...boss." She stuttered.

"Yes, Miranda."

"Can I bring in the documents after the lunch break?" She asked.

"Do not tell me you haven't even started it?"

He yelled at her and she was shivering avoiding his scary eyes with her fingers touching each other. She found it difficult to utter a word to him.

She tried to cover up so she won't lose her job,"I have started it sir but I haven't gone so far on it."

"Count today as your lucky day, by next Tuesday, I want the documents completed on my desk, do you get that?"

"Yes, boss."

"Get lost,"

One of the reasons he let Miranda go was because he kept thinking about the strange girl's smile.

"Sir Derek, your car is ready and the driver is all set to take you home," Miranda said, avoiding eye contact with him.

"Okay good, I might not be at the company tomorrow, it's all under probability, make sure you give Lewis a helping hand on top priorities okay?"

"I will assist him boss."

He walked outside the building with all the workers avoiding eye contact with me, who dared to look at him eyeball to eyeball will end up with a red flag.

The security walked behind him and the other rushed to open the door for him, taking the stuff he was holding except his phone.

He got to the McCain mansion and was welcomed as usual like he was a prince .

"Welcome sir,"

The maids bowed down but he just ignored walking directly to his room to have his bath.

He wore a white shirt and shorts, he tried to rest but he couldn't, he was disturbed by her thoughts.

Derek decided to walk a little and he picked the garden of roses, coming down the stairs he overheard the maids gossiping.

"The delivery girl is so cute but why can't she just deliver and leave, she might get over-excited and break something."

He decided to see for himself and saw a girl trying to climb the stool to view one of his precious artwork that was gifted to him by his ex lover. He kept it above other stuff in the living room.

"Hey, you," he yelled and she got frightened about falling when he rushed to her rescue holding her waist.

They both landed on the floor, she was wrapped in his arms with her eyes closed but the art piece got broken.
