"Shit!" He cursed under his breath and held his cheek while glaring at her.
"This should sound as a warning to you. I can never ever in my life be an instrument of pleasure for you. Get that into your head, Alpha Frederick." She said.
"You had the guts to slap me?" He asked angrily.
"I_"
"How dare you?" He snapped and she moved back while he followed.
"Stay back, I'm warning you." She pointed her index finger at him, trying her best not to sound scared.
"You will do as I say whether you like it or not Valerie. You will also get punished for raising your hand on me. Do you know how many people have died for insulting me?" Alpha Frederick asked.
"A leader who doesn't behave like one shouldn't be respected. It isn't their fault that they insulted you." She spat out and he slapped her.
"Watch your tongue lady, you have no right to insult me. I am your Alpha!" He yelled at her.
"I hate you!" She yelled back and ran out of the room.
The guards tried to stop her.
"Let her be." He ordered and they returned to their posts.
He held his cheeks which had already turned red due to the slap and smirked. No one in the history of his reign had ever raised their hand to touch him talk more of slapping him but this lady just committed the worst atrocity he could think of. He was going to deal mercilessly with her.
He was about returning to the bed when a guard ran in.
"My Alpha!" He bowed.
Alpha Frederick noticed his anxiety and the haste in his voice.
"What is it?" He asked.
"The weapons you asked us to steal were recovered by Alpha Drake's warriors. Most of our men were killed." The guard said.
"Repeat what you just told me!" Frederick's eyes darkened immediately.
"The weapons_"
"Shut the f**k up!" He yelled. "How did that happen?"
"Alpha Drake sent more warriors after ours and they were outnumbered, I managed to escape so as to inform you."
"This is preposterous! Wasn't Alpha Drake in a meeting then?"
"He was but he returned early." The guard answered.
"No!" He kicked the lampstand and it fell, shattering to pieces. "I had a well drafted plan but it was all for nothing?"
"I'm sor_"
"Get out!" He yelled and the guard scurried out of there. He threw everything on the table off and groaned angrily.
Why won't things ever go his own way? First it was Valerie, now Alpha Drake! He kicked the table hard and it fell, breaking into two. He removed the curtains and tore them to pieces before heading to the bed spread. He pulled it off and shifted to his wolf form before transferring his anger and aggression on the foam.

Valerie ran out of the house towards a spring. She sat down at the bank of the river and cried. The slap wasn't why she was hurt, she felt that if she had a mate then who would treat her this way?
She stared at her reflection in the river and sighed.
"Am I not beautiful enough? Don't I have the capabilities and attributes of a good mate? Why must all these happen to me?" She cried, remembering how she had lost her parents in the war that took place few years ago. She has been alone for as long as she could remember, seeing people with their mates hurts her to the core.
"Mate! Where are you?" She closed her eyes.

MOON CRESCENT PACK
Alpha Drake still stood watching the Cubs play when Alex mindlinked him to come to the pack house.
He left them and hurried to the pack house. Getting to his study, he met Beta Alex there with one of the guards.
"Any news?" He asked and sat down.
"Yes Alpha, we were able to retrieve the weapons." The guard said and opened a sack in front of him.
Alpha Drake smiled when he saw them.
"Good job. Now, take them to the store house." He ordered.
"Okay Alpha." The guard bowed before leaving with the weapons.
"I can imagine the look on that tyrant's face now." Alpha Drake smiled satisfyingly.
"Well, he should be trashing his room right about now." Alex said and they laughed.
A knock was heard.
"Come in!" Drake said. The door opened slowly and a guard entered. "What is it?"
"Elder Bruno and Elder Gad are here to see you." The guard bowed.
Drake exchanged looks with Alex, he knew why they were here. His mood changed immediately but he had no choice than to honour their invitation.
"Tell them I'll be with them shortly and ask the maids to serve them." Drake ordered.
"Okay, Alpha." He bowed and scurried out.
"What are you gonna do?" Alex asked.
"What I've always been doing." He answered nonchalantly.
"But, the elders_"
"Forget about them Alex, they aren't destiny." He said and Alex sighed before nodding.
Drake stood up and adjusted his clothes.
"Won't you change to your royal wear my Alpha?" Alex asked.
"No, I'm comfortable with what I'm wearing." He answered and walked out.
Alex followed him slowly till they got down from the stairs and entered the throne room. The two elders stood up when he entered and he bowed in respect to them before sitting on the throne.
"Alpha, what are you wearing?" Elder Gad asked.
"Clothes." Drake answered simply.
Gad wanted to talk but Bruno urged him not to stress the matter further before Drake looses his temper.
"Alpha Drake, we are here in regards to the issue of your mate." Elder Bruno began.
Drake rolled his eyes, just as expected.
"What is it this time?" He asked carelessly.
"We all know that Alphas are stronger when their mates are by their side." Elder Gad said.
"So?" Drake asked, he didn't like Elder Gad a bit. He always found the man suspicious. He would have removed him as the elder if not that this man and his late father were close. Sometimes, he wonders what his father saw in him before trusting him.
"You need to find your mate as soon as possible. Majority of the rival packs already know you're ruling without a Luna and that would make them attack us soon." Bruno said.
"I'm trying my best elders." He said.
"But your best isn't good enough. You need to put more effort. Go to other packs, if she's there, you'll perceive her scent and it will lead you straight to her." Gad added.
"And you think I haven't tried all those?" Drake asked.
"I know but_"
"Elder Gad," Drake cut him off. "I am not the moon goddess neither am I the mate bond. You two should stop pressurizing me, I will find my mate when the time comes. I need her more than you do." He said and they sighed.
"We've heard you," They stood up. "Just make it snappy, time waits for no one." Elder Bruno smiled and walked out with Elder Gad behind him.
Drake sighed and rested on the couch.
"Is it too late to give up now?" He sighed again.
"No, Alpha, please don't give up. You will know her when the time comes. I'm sure she's looking for you as well." Alex assured him.
"I hope so because all these pressure is giving me a headache."
"I understand, you just need to rest and relax your nerves a bit. You've had a long day." Alex said.
"You're right. I'm just tired of these elders. We met this morning but none of them told me this, they had to come privately and disturb my peace of mind." Drake scoffed.
"It's alright Alpha. They've got issues." Alex said and Drake smiled.
"Thanks."
"It's my greatest honor Alpha." Alex smiled too.

LATER THAT DAY.
BLAZING FIRE PACK.
Alpha Frederick sat on the chair in his study, tapping the table violently like it was the one that offended him and he was punishing it.
The door of his study opened and his Beta, Dave entered.
"What is it Dave?" He asked, not sparing him a glance.
"My Alpha, Callum is here to see you." Dave bowed.
"Callum?" Frederick arched his brows.
"He is from the dark witches coven. He says he has a proposal for you." Dave added.
"Okay, let him in." Frederick said.
Dave opened the door and the man entered. He wore black on black and his hair was packed up in a bun. The aura around him was intimidating, even Dave felt it but Alpha Frederick wasn't moved. From his looks, a person could tell how dangerous he was.
"Alpha." Callum bowed.
"Have a seat." Alpha Frederick gestured to the seat in front of his desk.
Callum sat down and went straight to the point.
"I am aware of your plight with Alpha Drake and I know a way you can finally stop him so I'm here to make a proposal."
