Many times he wondered why she left him, was it because he was not good or someone better than him loved her? Now it's clear why he felt it wasn't necessary.
He turned to look at her and slowly replied:
"Madison, I'm sorry. You and I are over, we can't go back."
"Do you hate me that much?"
"Don't misunderstand. I don't hate or blame you. On the contrary, I have to thank you.
"Thank?"
"Yeah, I forgot to tell you. I'm married."
"Get married?"
His words stunned her, her hands clutching at the hem of her shirt. This time back, what she wanted to do the most was to mend her feelings for him. But now that I hear you're married, so...you've run out of chances? Her heart ached, her throat choked up, unable to speak. I thought he would wait for her, but I thought she was the only one waiting. Her eyes were red and full of tears, but even though she tried to hold it back, she still couldn't stop her emotions.
Madison took a deep breath, hid her tears, and asked:
"How long have you two been married?"
William replied:
"After two years since you left me."
"You must really love her, don't you?"
"Yes, I love her very much. Plus, we're expecting our first child."
"So...congratulations!"
"Thanks, Madison."
Seeing his happy expression when talking about his wife, she was heartbroken. If she hadn't left him in the past, maybe the person beside him now is her. Seeing him happy, she should be happy, but why does her heart ache. Deep down inside, she wanted to mend their feelings, she hated seeing him happy with a girl who wasn't her. She doesn't care!
"Madison!"
Hearing his call, she was startled out of her own train of thought. Withdrawing her blank gaze, she turned to him.
"Youcallme?"
"How are you? You don't look well."
"I'm fine, I guess I'm new to Vietnam, so I'm not familiar with the time frame here. Would you like to have lunch with me this afternoon?"
"I...."
"It's just a meal, it won't take much of your time."
William hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement. Madison smiled happily at him. This meal is like a meeting after 5 years but as a friend.
Jennifer Martinez finished the errands in the house, looked at the clock, it was almost noon. This afternoon she had an appointment with him to the mall, instead of staying at home waiting for her to decide to go to his company for this afternoon's convenience. She went upstairs to change into comfortable clothes and left the house.
Jennifer walked a short distance to the street to catch a car. Suddenly, a white car honked and stopped next to her. The car window slowly lowered, a man's voice rang out:
"Jennifer"
Jennifer turned her head to the side to see the man sitting in the car, she happily walked over to say hello:
"Edric! When did you come home without telling me?"
"I just got back a few days ago. Where are you going?"
"I went to William's company."
"Get in my car, it's convenient anyway."
Jennifer nodded in agreement and quickly got into the car. The car started rolling and slowly moved onto the highway. In the car, Edric Martinez opened the conversation first:
"How are you these years? Are you okay? Will William treat you well?"
As if realizing something, Edric stopped to continue his question. He turned to look at her, his eyes filled with concern. Understanding, she smiled softly and replied:
"I'm fine. William has treated me very well, he's already accepted my feelings. Besides, we're about to have our first child."
Edric couldn't help but be surprised to hear Jennifer tell about his life. In a joyful voice, he asked:
"Are you really pregnant?"
She nodded.
"Is it a boy or a girl?"
"I'm only three weeks pregnant, so the sex of the baby has not been determined yet."
"So that's it. Congratulations to you and William."
"Thank you."
Jennifer smiled at Edric. Along the way, the two talked happily.
About 20 minutes later, the car stopped in front of William's company. Jennifer said goodbye to Edric and entered the office. She went to the front desk and said to the staff:
"You let me see the general manager William Jackson."
"Excuse me, do you have an appointment with the director?"
"I don't have an appointment, you can just tell the director that Jennifer is coming.
"Yes, please wait a moment."
Jennifer nodded expectantly. The receptionist was just holding the phone to call the office when suddenly his voice rang.
"Jennifer!"
Hearing someone call her name, she turned behind her. He rushed to her place and asked:
"What did you come for? Didn't I tell you to stay at the nursing home?"
"We have an appointment this afternoon, so I want to come to the company to have lunch with you."
"Next time you go somewhere, give me a call."
She meekly nodded.
He looked at her with loving eyes and then gently reached up to stroke her soft hair. Suddenly, an unexpected voice interrupted their conversation:
"William, let's go."
Jennifer stood still, looking at the girl who had just walked in. Feelings of fear and insecurity dominated her entire mind. The person standing in front of her was Madison, his first love and also the girl he once loved very much.
She froze as if she couldn't believe her eyes. Madison has returned, will he abandon her to return to his first love? In her mind now a series of unanswered questions and worries grew.
"Jennifer. Jennifer. Jennifer!"
I don't know what she was thinking, but he called the third time she heard it. Jennifer Martinez looked at him with soulful eyes.
"What 's up?"
He shook his head and replied.
"No, I just called because you were silent. Are you tired?"
"I'm okay. I am alright. I was just thinking about something..."
