Chapter 4 OO4

Nadine learnt make up for one year before she married Nathan so it enabled her to do make up that covered her identity a little bit. When it was time for the interview, Nadine wore her glasses well and entered Ryan Raymond's office. When she saw him come in earlier, she had no option but to disguise her face. Nadine knew if Ryan recognise her again, he would try to punish her and he might even double the punishment because she ran away. "Tell me why I should hire you," he said without looking at her.

Nadine began to talk and stated her qualities, as she talked, she prayed he wouldn't recognise her. When Ryan suddenly turned to her, fear gripped her. She bent her head praying harder this time. "That... seems familiar," he said looking at her. Nadine knew he had caught her this time. She was about to cry and fall on her knees to apologise. "Yes, I can't be mistaken. Isn't that the fake version of my glasses? I know you are too poor to buy the original one, why do you have to be so fake?" Ryan rolled his eyes and faced his files again. Nadine rolled her eyes, he just scared the hell out of her, she wished she could slap the back of his head. It was so obvious Ryan was a proud man whose arrogance was taller than a tower. "Well, I like your qualities and the way you talked. You can also speak three languages which gives you more credits than the other so you are hired. Right now, you are my personal assistant: Your work only belongs here in the office," he said. Nadine was so happy. As she walked home, she decided to go to the grocery store to get something for dinner when she collided into someone. It was Nanny Fane. Nanny Fane had been her nanny since she was a child and took care of her better than her mother ever did. "Nadine!" Nanny Fane was so excited to see her. "Nadine, when are you coming back home? I miss you," she said and held her hand. Nadine smiled. Before her mother fell ill, she had left the house and she met Nathan who promised to take care of her and be with her forever. However, it was all a lie. Nathan went ahead to hook up with her stepsister. Yes, Kate Middleton is her half sister with different fathers. After Nadine's father died, her mom went to marry another man and got pregnant immediately. Nadine was only three years older than Kate. Nadine was only seven years old when Kate and her father tormented her in the house while her biological mother only took their sides. Just when she turned fifteen, she moved out of the house because she was tired of being framed. Nadine didn't hear anything about them until her mother fell ill and was comatose, at this time she hadn't met Nathan. When she met Nathan, he promised to be with her forever and she believed him. Nadine didn't tell him that her mother was one of the richest woman in America after she inherited all of Nadine's father's wealth. Right now, Kate and her father are busy parasiting on her father's wealth and she didn't dare to go and claim it. "I can't come back to that house filled with those parasites. Imagine, after taking my mother away from me, she sought to take my husband too because she is rich. Right now, I just want to be on my own, nanny. I don't want to end up like my mother because only God knows what they did to her," she said. Nanny Fane held her hand and gently pat it. She felt the pain of the lady, it hadn't been easy on her own. Only if Monica, her mother, had taken better care of her and not remarry then maybe all of these wouldn't have happened. Just then, while the duo were talking, a woman who was well dressed walked to them. She carried a boy of one years in her hand and she looked at Nadine with a smiley face. "Are you Nathan''s ex wife? You look more ugly now." Kate gave a pretentious smile after talking. Kate only knew Nadine as Nathan's ex wife, she didn't recognise her anymore because Nadine left when they were younger. Although she remembered that her mother had another daughter, she didn't know that it was Nadine. However, her baby caught Nadine's eyes. The baby had rare blue eyes like that of Nathan and his hair was blonde like hers. Instead of saying anything, she stared at the little boy because his face attracted her. She was thinking about her own child, maybe if he had survived the birth, he would be around the same age as the boy in Kate's hand. Tears lingered in her eyes but she didn't want to cry in front of Kate, her adversary. "I didn't know you are back in America." Kate face lit up as she spoke. "Oh my goodness, you have become so thin and your skin looks ridiculous, I'm sure you are very hungry right now, shall I buy you food?" Kate said looking at her with a false smile. Nadine rolled her eyes and looked away in a sigh. She hadn't forgotten how ridiculous her sister can be, the words of her mouth are filled with spite and pretense. Nadine looked at Nanny Fane, she held her hand and gave a small smile before she walked out of the store. Nadine had just opened the door when her eyes bumped into that one man, the one man she dread to see. He was handsome and neat with his suit sparkling like diamond. His face was smooth and cold as he walked into the store. Because the outside of the store was dark, he didn't see Nadine and she was grateful. Was she grateful?! Now she was livid! How dare he show his face in front of her? How can he still live after all he did to her. How can a man like him walk around with a smile on his face as though he did nothing wrong when he left her in the cold to have their baby alone as if it was only her who did it. She hated that man with all of her life and she would do anything.. Anything to make sure his smiles disappear.
