Chapter 2 Patience

[Every coin has two sides, just like most people have two faces.-]

Jenny woke up in utter satisfaction. She couldn't believe she was finally married. Married to the love of her life. She was a twenty two years old lady, and yet this moment she was acting like a kid; blushing and smiling to herself. She looked to her side and that's when she realized he wasn't there. With a slight frown, she got out of bed to look for him.

"Aiden? Dear?". She called out as she checked the bathroom and closet, but he wasn't there.

She got out of the room, and she saw him sitting in the dining table with two females.

She walked up to him, kissing him on the cheeks, and she felt him stiffen. He was probably shy in front of... His sister and the other person.

"I've been looking all over for you".she said, and he gave her a curt smile.

"I didn't want to disturb your sleep, so I decided to have breakfast. You're wearing so little". He flung a coat across her shoulders. She smiled warmly at him. So considerate, he didn't want people looking at her.

"Hi Charlotte". She greeted his sister, but she threw her face the other side. Jenny always knew his sister never liked her, and she wondered why.

"Hi". She said to the other person.

"Oh, this is Ava, my..". He paused, then glanced briefly at Ava. "Close friend". He replied and she smiled. The smile didn't quite reach her eyes.

"Ava, meet my wife...". The word 'Wife' came out rather stiffly, like he was forced to say it. "...Jenny".

"Hi. Nice to meet you". Jenny said, and stretched her hands out for a handshake.

Ava took it with a small smile. "Nice to meet you too". Ava replied, before pulling her hands away.

"Now that you're done with that. Could you go upstairs and change?".

"Sure". She replied with a smile "I'll just freshen up". She walked away, and the cold expression returned to Aiden's face.

"I hate that girl". Charlotte said as soon as she was out of earshot.

'you're not the only one'. Aiden thought.

Jenny freshened up and changed into new clothes. She then went downstairs for breakfast, but there was no one in the dining anymore. With a sigh, she pulled out a chair and ate alone.

After eating, she searched around for her husband, but couldn't find him, but on getting to the garden, she saw Charlotte and Ava chatting happily among themselves .

"Well, uhm, have you seen my husband?". Jenny asked as she approached them.

"He is your husband so why ask us?". Charlotte replied, then resumed her discussion with Ava like she was never there.

Jenny didn't know why Charlotte disliked her so much, but she still wanted them to get along.

"Can I join you two?". She asked, but all she got was silence. Since no one replied, she sat down besides Charlotte, but she pushed her away like she was some worthless piece of trash.

"Get out of here. What's your problem?". Charlotte asked, irked by her presence alone.

"shouldn't I be asking you that? What have I done so wrong that you dislike me? Huh? From the first day you met me, you've been cold towards me. Tell me what I did that's so wrong". Jenny shouted as she sobbed, not getting up from the floor.

"What you did? You did a lot. You and your-". Charlotte stopped talking as Ava held her hands, and scratched at her palms lightly. With a sigh, she walked away. Ava helped Jenny up.

"Sorry". She muttered softly. "I'll talk to her".

"What were you planning on telling her huh? You wanna ruin our entire plan. What's wrong with you? Thank goodness Ava was there, else...". He gripped her by the shoulders, shaking her slightly. "We would soon get what we want. We would soon get our revenge. Patience my dear, patience!". Aiden said with a sly smile, but charlotte was having none of it as she walked to the other side of the room

"Patience! I have been patient all my life. I have been patient for six years. Then we finally found them.. I had to be patient for a year and six months. Now, you're still talking about patience?". She huffed.

"Calm down Charlotte. Things must go according to how we want it to. Exercise a little bit more patience. Also, try to be nice to her ". Ava advised, and Charlotte scoffed.

"Nice to whom? Never! I won't-".

"Ava is right Charl. Couldn't you just put up an act for a few days? We don't want her running off to her parents, crying that my sister maltreated her, or do we?". Aiden asked and she sighed.

"I'll try . but...but I'm not giving you my word". She replied in annoyance, walked to the door, unlocked it and left.

"Keep an eye on her". Aiden warned.

"Why should I? She is your sister, not mine". Ava replied and Aiden glared at her before leaving " Ugh, these people".

Aiden went back to the room where Jenny -he didn't consider her his wife - was. She was sitting down on the bed with her arms folded across the chest.

"Babe..".he called out softly.

"Please just ask your sister to tell me why she hates me so much. That's all I want to know, please".Aiden's fists clenched and for a moment, he lost his cool, but when he thought of his plans again, he knew he couldn't blow it yet.
