Chapter 6 Visiting Grandpa

The first ray of sunshine peered into the room when the morning came.

Cheryl slowly opened her eyes, startled by the sight of the handsome face inches away from hers. 'Didn't he leave yesterday?' she wondered.

Jarred had dashing eyebrows and bright eyes. He was good-looking, but he didn't like to smile. He was always wearing a straight face.

While he was sleeping, his usually sharp gaze was unseen and he looked much gentler.

Cheryl couldn't resist the urge to touch his eyebrows.

"Cheryl," Jarred muttered almost inaudibly.

She had no idea what he must be dreaming of.

The following second, she felt him tighten his grip on her waist.

It was as if he was afraid of letting go of something.

She snuggled up to his warm embrace, greedy for his affection.

Before Jarred talked to her about the divorce, she never believed that he'd ever have the heart to leave her behind.

Ever since they got married, he had been doting on her.

The once reserved and stoic Jarred seemed to have become another person.

He used to be so generous with her, and he never cared about how much money he spent on her. He even traded one of the Fuller family's lands worth more than a hundred million dollars for an antique bracelet, just because Cheryl took a look at it.

Since their wedding night, he had been eager to have sex with her every night.

And after they had sex, he would always help her clean up her body gently and considerately.

Cheryl smiled when she looked back at how happy their marriage used to be.

When she learned that she was pregnant, all she ever thought of was their future together.

But all of a sudden, Ines came back.

All the peace and happiness Cheryl felt were shattered into pieces.

Jarred put forward the divorce proposal with a listless face. He must have wished he could just go to Ines right away.

'Did he wake up embracing Ines yesterday morning?' she asked in her mind.

In an instant, Cheryl felt a lump in her throat. Anger overcame her.

She grabbed Jarred's arm and wanted to push it away in a fit of rage.

Because he had already touched another woman, she was disgusted of him.

But Jarred had locked Cheryl's waist in his arm tightly. It seemed as though he had no intention of letting her go.

He then pulled her back into his arms.

The way he exerted so much strength into holding her made it seem like he wanted to embed her into his body; never to separate from her again.

"Let me go!" Cheryl grunted.

Slowly, Jarred opened his eyes. Contrary to how calm and stoic he usually was, he was acting lazy and nonchalant on bed.

However, his attitude was still as tough as ever.

As he leaned closer to Cheryl's forehead, his eyes dimmed.

"What? You don't even want to sleep in my arms anymore?"

'Is she no longer willing to touch me because she loves someone else now? We're not even divorced yet! Is she going to sever all of her ties with me?' he wondered bitterly.

Jarred's heart was overcame with jealousy.

Cheryl, on the other hand, was boiling with anger. Showing no sign of weakness, she retorted, "Aren't you with Ines now? Go and embrace her instead of bothering me!"

Jarred was stunned to hear her say that. A faint smile formed on his lips.

His eyes seemed to be sparkling, making them look more captivating.

"Are you jealous?"

"What? Of course, not!"

Cheryl struggled to break free from him, but then Jarred gripped her jaw.

"I could only sleep with you in my arms," said Jarred.

A second later, his overwhelming presence enveloped her.

He planted a soft, passionate kiss on her lips.

Tears welled up in Cheryl's eyes.

All the grievances and unwillingness to let him go buried at the bottom of her heart burst forth from her chest.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she tightly clasped Jarred's shoulders.

Their kissing became more passionate by the second, plundering her breath and arousing her lust.

He lifted her nightgown and ran his hand up her belly.

The moment their skins touched, the desire in their hearts became even more unrestrained.

Cheryl was suddenly jolted back to reality.

'The baby!'

She pushed Jarred away at once.

He was breathing heavily and looking at her as though he would eat her up.

"I'm… I'm on my period," Cheryl prevaricated.

Jarred raised an eyebrow at her and said, "Your menstrual period usually happens at the start of the month."

"I'm not in a good mood lately. It's probably why my menstrual period came late." Cheryl broke free from his grasp and sat upright.

Jarred's body stiffened.

'She is in a bad mood?

Does she feel annoyed because she's still stuck with me and can't be with Enoch?'

His raging desire disappeared at once.

Jarred looked down, dejected. His eyelashes cast a shadow on his face, which covered the anger and sadness in his eyes.

With difficulty, he said, "Let's go visit my grandpa today. He's not going to stop us if you are the one who asks for a divorce."
