Chapter 8 The Intruders

Carl's POV

I was disgusted with this beautiful woman in my condo, but for my job, we needed to be here first. These are naughty men disturbed. It was easy to kill someone for me but I was with my lady boss so I was able to avoid it. The next time comes, they will assure no one else will be affected, make sure they can defeat me.

I am currently in the living room watching TV, on the single couch Stephanie is sitting facing her laptop. She still works even though she is in my condo unit. I could catch a glimpse of her even when I was facing the TV.

"Her face is very meek and very innocent," my brain said.

I lay down on the long couch, I took the throw pillow and I made a pillow. I slept until three in the afternoon. When I woke up, I immediately rolled my eyes. Stephanie was no longer in her seat earlier.

I got up immediately to look for her. I saw her laptop on the side table she had used earlier but I couldn't see her. I first went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. After I took the bathroom, I went out and my stomach mimicked me in the kitchen.

I was suddenly hungry but even before I arrived and entered the kitchen I could smell the aroma of pizza. I hurried in and saw her there in the kitchen with pizza on the table. She turned her back on the door so I slowly approached her.

"Pizza is delicious," I said.

I saw how surprised she was. She almost jumped when I suddenly spoke behind her. She faced me so I was so close to her that her face collided with my chest. She was holding on to it then she looked up at me.

Damn her lips. I was tempted to kiss her but I managed to hold back. Our eyes were right for a few minutes. I was the first to regain our gaze.

Consciously she suddenly walked away from me. I immediately took the pizza she cooked and then I ate it.

"Wow, it's delicious!" I like the taste and I gradually take it more because of my hunger.

"You're so hungry, aren't you?!" She asked me an angry question.

"Yes, I'm hungry, Miss Alonzo, thank you and you're baked," I replied coldly.

"Just asking, Mister Guard," she added.

"You're a good cook," I complimented her.

I was suddenly sad as I remembered something. I hurriedly finished my last pizza then I left the kitchen immediately. I went to the bar counter, poured the wine then drank it. I remember Elissa because of Stephanie. I bought that oven, I knew Elissa was good at baking.

She reminds me of her. This heart must forget Elissa already. I was stunned a few times and then I just felt dizzy. I went into my room so Stephanie wouldn't see me getting drunk.

I'm still not that drunk but I still remember that she was under my care. At this time, I still must watch over her even in my condo. Disgusted, I went into my bathroom to take a shower to get rid of the smell of alcohol on my body. After I took a shower, I went out of the bathroom to get dressed.

I was going to the living room when I passed her in her place. She has focused again on her laptop.

"The speed with which she smacked," I said to myself.

"I still have pizza left for you, Mr. Guard," she said as I passed.

"Leave it there," I replied reluctantly.

I was annoyed inside because she tampered with what Elissa and I were to use only.

"Next time don't just use my things here," I whispered.

"At least, you eat anyway," she replied to me.

I turned to her but I saw she was still smiling at me. Annoyed, I went to the living room to watch this girl.

I saw out of the corner of my eye the rising edge of his lips. I just ignored it because my head might heat up in no time. Since the TV was off, I lay down on the couch again. I put on my earphones because an hour from now Mister Alonzo will call to ask something for her daughter.

I closed my eyes not because I wanted to sleep but I just wanted to be closed. I listen to music while Stephanie works here inside my condo unit. After an hour I heard Mister Alonzo's voice on my headphones.

"Carl, I'll pick up Stephanie, there in your condo unit. I'll take her home to the villa first."

"Go there and pick her up tomorrow morning," he told me.

"Yes, sir."

After our conversation, I got up to let Stephanie know that her Daddy would pick her up. She hadn't been in her chair now, she might have entered her room. I went there to knock on her door. I raised my hand but suddenly the door opened.

The fragrant and re-touched innocent face opened up to me. I lowered my hand raised in the air.

"I know, Daddy will pick me up, here."

"Good," I told her as I turned away.

I had already gone to the living room to sit while waiting for Stephanie's Daddy to arrive. She immediately followed to the living room with her belongings. An hour later came what we had been waiting for. I picked up Stephanie's belongings then we went down to the parking lot.

Opening the door of Mister Alonzo's car, she immediately went inside.

"I will call when there is more needed and order for my daughter," Mister Alonzo said.

"No problem sir," I replied.

He blew his horn as the car sped away.

I turned around to go back to my condo unit. Since the condo garage is in the basement, I went to the elevator alone to get back to my unit. I saw the men at one end as if they were in meetings. According to the speaker's gesture, he seemed angry and stabbed his staff.

I walked quickly to get into the elevator right away before they could see me. My mind asks because of what I saw, who were those men? Are they following someone and are they going astray? They weren't the men Stephanie and I had encountered this morning.

Wait, isn't Mister Alonzo the one they follow? I was alerted to my thinking. I hurried inside my unit then I went to the bar counter. Here I put down my laptop earlier before we headed out towards the basement garage.

I opened my laptop to monitor my bosses. I felt relieved to see their location, close to their villa. I took out a notebook of mine and wrote on it what I observed except for my copy on the laptop. I carry a notebook every day so I always have a copy which is included in my work as Miss Alonzo's bodyguard.

Folding my laptop, I went to the living room and picked up a metal I was using in the drawer under the closet that was overlaid with the TV. I hung it on my back then I came out. I walked down the long hallway until I reached the elevator. I rode towards the ground floor.

I'm going to the CCTV camera monitor's office here in the whole building. I stopped at the glass door, and Mister Soriano immediately saw me inside. He lets me in.

"Oh man, what can I do for you?" He asked as I sat in the chair opposite his desk.

" Can we check out the CCTV copy in the garage in the basement at six-thirty just now?"

"Sure, as long as you, I am shaking," he laughed.

He opened it and he saw what I saw. But the groups of men I had seen before were gone by this time. I saw the paper and ballpen on Mister Soriano's desk, I took it immediately and then I wrote.

For him, it was simply the people who had been meeting there but he gave me the copy after he printed it.

"Alright, Mister Soriano thank you," I told him.

"Nothing Carl"

I got up and walked out of Mister Soriano's office. I just quickly got back to my unit. I edited the paper copy I had earlier and added it to my copy. I captured it and hid it in my laptop files.

At eight o'clock in the evening, I will go out to the bar to continue my drinking. It's hard to drink alone here at home. I dressed to leave. I pulled my car quickly to the bar.

Another day and I was ready to pick up Miss Alonzo at their villa. When I got to the gate, I just blew my horn. A few minutes later, she came out of the villa. Before leaving the villa, I didn't even bother to open the car door for her.

"Hi, Mister Guard," she greeted me once she opened the car door.

"Good morning, Miss Alonzo."

I started the car engine after she adjusted her seatbelt. I see her in the side mirror busy with her cellphone. Sometimes she smiles to herself, maybe someone is talking with her on her cellphone.

When I'm looking at this woman I remember Elissa. My grip on the steering wheel tightened.

"What's wrong?" suddenly she asked me.

"Nothing, just mind your own business," I warned her.

I could not understand why I answered her like that. To think that this woman is also my boss, not just her father. I blew air.

"I am sorry," I suddenly said.

"For what?" she asked.

"For being snobbish?" smiling as she asked.

"Yeah."

"It's, okay nothing wrong about it. You look more handsome with that," she said.

My eyebrows rose as she complimented me. I know I'm handsome but I don't know if she's swearing or teasing? I dismissed what I was thinking, I just focused on the road. The beautiful young lady fell silent as I ignored her.

I carefully looked at the cars next to us to see if it would happen again like yesterday with someone following us. Until now I have not forgotten what I noticed last night. I was doubly careful, I would also know who they were.

We got to the office early, there weren't too many cars on the road yet. After I took her to the office, Mister Alonzo arrived just in time. I greeted him, I followed him to his office because I had to report what I observed last night. I waited five minutes to rest before I reported.

"What is it, Hijo?" Mister Alonzo began.

"I just want to give you a copy. I saw them meeting in the garage after you and Stephanie left," I said in a long line.

"Thank you, Hijo, for the information, I will call our private investigator and take care of it."

"You are the only one I trust because your Daddy recommends you to me. I know you will take my daughter, " said Mister Alonzo.

"You can rely on me, I'm leaving."

"Alright, Hijo. Thank you."

I finally walked out of the CEO's Office. Returned to Stephanie's work area where she has focused on her laptop. This girl was also hardworking. Still young but dedicated to their business, "lucky girl." I shook to get out of my brain whatever I was thinking when I saw her glance at me.

She smiled when he saw me looking at her and then immediately turned her gaze back to the laptop. I kept my eyes busy, scouting around for the safety of Alonzo's Unica hija. The other female employees also glanced at me. Some notice by raising their voice.

I'm not a snob so I get along well with all of them. I'm just a few weeks here but they were closed to me. I thought of looking at my wristwatch and it was ten o'clock in the morning.

It was time for a snack, I secretly smiled at Stephanie's reaction when she saw me look at my watch. The other employees stood up to go to the cafeteria. I watched her on her back as she even re-touched before standing up which I saw on the screen of her desktop.

"Let's go," I heard her while staring at me.

We entered the elevator together while the others below the floor were already ahead. I walked ahead, I heard the sound of her heeled shoes chasing me. I turned to see her behind me but she hit me. I immediately hugged her around her waist so she would not fall over.

I left her immediately before anyone noticed. I just kept walking slowly while she was having a hard time chasing me.

"Thank you for catching my heart, or me just now, huh!" She said as we entered the cafeteria.

"Welcome, better be careful next time," I replied coldly.

I looked for a seat, then followed her in choosing our respective meals. After getting up, we went to the table together to have a snack. Because she was hungry, she was silent as she took a snack. Later, her friends approached her again so I distanced myself from them to give them the freedom to hang out.
