Chapter 5 With my Body Guard

Stephanie's POV

Sunday night we left for Manila. Carl accompanied us back to Manila using his car. Tomorrow I will be with him at work, it was still tomorrow but I was immediately excited.

Just at our dinner the other day, Daddy orientated him, regarding his job, being my bodyguard. They agreed with Daddy on a lot of things. All I understood was not to forsake me.

Daddy entrusted me to him. Father's instinct again. They know if a person can be trusted when it comes to their daughter's protection. I thank, Daddy, for taking care of my security.

I thought my bodyguard would be old because that's what I watch on TV, but when I saw him at dinner I was surprised. After all, he was the man I talked to at the hospital who didn't even introduce himself to me. Not only that, but sometimes it suddenly pops into my mind. Especially, his sad eyes that when stared at me seemed to have lost a million.

"Why am I thinking about him now?"

"What is that, him again?"

He became even more handsome as he smiled at Daddy and his eyes were no longer so sad.

I smiled as I thought, I was in the back sitting in Daddy's car, it's a good thing my parents didn't notice me.

Mommy was in the passenger's seat, next to Daddy who was driving. I was surprised when Daddy sneezed, I was able to sit up straight. I even held my chest to breathe properly. I looked to the front in confusion.

"You thought I didn't see, your eyes are sparkling. Who is that for, hija?"

"You're crazy, Daddy!"

I frowned and struggled first then I laughed, Daddy laughed along with me. Mommy turned to us and smiled as well. At least, our trip was fun. After our laughter, we fell silent again.

"Tomorrow, Carl and you will accompany each other. Behave and be a good girl."

"Yes, Daddy." My response to him.

We arrived at our villa after three hours. I went in first and went up to the second floor, where my room was already drowsy. Because of the activities, I did this weekend my body got tired. But I am happy about what happened this weekend.

He looks like what's in my mind.

"I'll see him tomorrow. Please, self, go to sleep," I begged myself it was getting late.

I might be a zombie tomorrow if I can't sleep tonight.

To my knowledge, I slept late last night but I woke up early. I'll go to work at eight o'clock but my eyes were wide awake at five o'clock. Excited to be in today? Is it because I can be with my new bodyguard?

"I'll see him later," I whispered into the air.

I didn't realize that I was in the kitchen and I was drinking coffee. Sitting while staring at the table alone. Because of my thoughts, I didn't realize that I had someone with me.

"Are you saying something, hija?"

I could almost let go of the cup of coffee I was holding when I heard Daddy's voice. I looked at him immediately in shock. His forehead furrowed when he saw my reaction. I looked down and then put my cup of coffee on the table.

"What's happening to you?"

I smiled at Daddy to show I was okay.

He just came back from exercise, he was so sweaty. He wipes to dry his body. He didn't leave the kitchen until I answered.

"Nothing, Daddy," I said in almost a whisper.

"Ah, I thought you were talking,"

He then turned his back on me when came out of the kitchen.

When we arrived at Daddy's office, the mostly female employees were noisy. They were making a fuss, I could hear them as I was near the door. I was about to enter the door of the office where I work as a staff, and I saw Carl standing.

My bodyguard and this was his first day at his job. He was wearing a black suit but a white polo inside.

There is a headset in his ear and he is wearing his shades. He was so handsome that he stunned me.

First time I feel such admiration for a man and him yet. I sneezed first to grab his attention. He turned to me so I smiled.

A close-up smile I bestowed on him my lips. He didn't smile back and there was no response. Even so, I looked formal as if nothing had happened. I need to get used to his cold treatment of me as he showed me at our dinner then.

"Good morning, bodyguard," I greeted him.

"Good morning too," he replied in a formal voice.

I looked at the whole of him. He stood up relaxed and escaped rest. I didn't know we were both watching each other. He wasn't moving but his eyes were watching, that's what I saw because I was on his side.

I rolled my eyes as I headed to my work area to see the other employees. I saw my friends smiling at me. I raised an eyebrow at them. I raised my right hand to let them know we would talk later.

Suddenly Carl's cell phone rang, approaching me to say goodbye at the CEO's Office. I just nodded at him to accommodate. Leaving, I immediately focused on the work. After a few minutes, I saw on my computer monitor that Carl was already outside the door.

What? How fast is their conversation with Daddy? He stood now as before.

He was far away from me but I could feel that he was looking at me even though he was still wearing shades. Suddenly my chest throbbed for no apparent reason.

"Why so handsome?" I whispered to myself as I glanced at him again on my monitor screen.

He could see that he had escaped rest but noticed his good looks.

I bit my lower lip and sniffed.

"Concentrate me," I commanded myself.

I've done the job and I've done a lot. I thought about stretching my arms.

The pleasure of feeling my hands relaxed. I turned to those next to me and I was shocked.

"What?" All of a sudden it came out of my mouth because I had no companions.

I looked at my wristwatch, I was still not satisfied so I looked at the office wall clock.

Oh my goodness, I was amazed because it was already noon. Lunch break time is 11:30 to 1:00 pm.

"Am I that hard-working now?" I ask myself.

I stood up and arranged my belongings. I re-touched first, put on a little make-up, and sprinkled perfume. I grabbed my bag and walked towards the door. My bodyguard was still standing when I saw the exit that was already ahead of the elevator.

He waited for me first, letting me get into the elevator before him. Many entered the elevator to fill it. He stepped aside from me. He's so tall because I'm only up to his shoulder at my height of five feet and three inches while he's probably five feet and seven inches.

His scent, the smell of his perfume is good on the nose. Suddenly my chest throbbed like drums beating as if someone was having a concert inside. I was bored with my heartbeat so I moved away from him a little. It's embarrassing that he might even hear it.

This heart is beating for him so fast. How could this man grab my heart's attention so fast? He has just started to work but he could throb my heart for real!

"Calm down yourself, you can still have that in the next few days," I beg myself that I can't be bothered.

I was shocked when the elevator suddenly stopped, we were on the ground floor. Carl came out first then he waited outside. We walked together while he was looking around. Until we reach the cafeteria.

He found my seat. I was just watching him when he suddenly turned to me. It's too late to turn to others, he'll just tell me where to sit. I was so bitten on my lower lip, that I was amazed at his handsomeness.

Yvonne, also one of the employees who became my friend, approached me.

"Your mouth is still open? Maybe the fly can come in, girl," she said then pinched me.

That's when I realized what she was referring to. I raised an eyebrow at Yvonne.

I went to the chair for me that Carl had pointed out earlier. My friend Yvonne followed. I don't have any food yet but here I am getting cornered by this Yvonne. When I arrived at the table I put down my bag first.

I saw Carl waiting for me at the counter to get food. I moved and went to the counter and Yvonne joined me.

"Your bodyguard is handsome, girl! She's thrilling.

"So what?" I sighed enough that only we could hear.

Yvonne pinched my side which kept me shouting. The people in the cafeteria look at us. I immediately bent down so I could not see their stares.

"I thought you were here before, why are we almost together?"

I asked Yvonne when we got to the counter.

"I only went somewhere for a while, so now I'm here with you."

"Our co-workers, they're almost done?"

"Let's sit down," I said after we got food.

There I caught a glimpse of Carl waiting at the table. Yvonne is across the seat from me. Carl and I are sided by side. This is my feeling again, I'm nervous even though I'm not looking at him, but I didn't show it off.

I need to eat a lot, later I will have to work hard again. After we ate, the rest of our co-workers approached. I noticed that Carl was no longer at the table, I looked at the opening of the cafeteria and there he was standing.

They were almost whispering when they could get close to Yvonne and me. My bodyguard is the topic and they are said to be handsome. They are unlucky; some already have boyfriends, and others are already married.

"I'm sorry guys, fix yourself, especially those who have husband's already there!"

Everyone laughed at the reason for creating noise in the cafeteria. Even though they knew I was the CEO's daughter, we were just friends in that situation. They were kind to me and I was kind to them too. That's the beauty of Daddy's managing the company well.

"We'll be ahead of you," they are leaving and letting us see and chat once more.

"As it is needed, say it all at once?"

I asked them.

"Yes, you will be first."

Yvonne went with them. After they left, I arranged myself and then stood up. I turned to Carl, still there at the entrance of the cafeteria standing waiting for me. The handsomeness of his gesture made me stunned again. I was lucky to have a very handsome bodyguard waiting for me.

"Let's go," I said honestly to him.

We walk at the same time but he is still ahead of me, his footsteps are big. This is how having a bodyguard is? Only Daddy is always with me then, not him anymore.

It's a different person but it doesn't matter, he's handsome and I still have a crush on him. I just stopped at the thought of the elevator opening. We were in the hallway towards my work area and he stopped at the door.

"Thank you."

I went straight to my work table. I was fixing my stuff when Daddy called. He informed me that he had a meeting. I was surprised when he informed me that Carl will also sleep in the mh condo unit. This is the first time that my bodyguard will be with me when I go home as well as in my condo unit.

"I can just work," I commend myself.

I feel like I can easily do my jobs now. It's different when there is an inspiration. Assuming myself, at the same time, I sniffed and even raised my eyebrow.

"Whatever!"

"Are you saying something?"

Cynthia asked me.

"Yes, because I am talking to myself."

"Crazy!" Cynthia teases me.

This is how we are, calling each other friends, uncertain when talking.

Anyway, the things that need to be fixed today have been well done. The employees and also my friends informed me and then said goodbye.
