Chapter 10 Ninth Chapter

/ 1

**Liam**
the three of us spend the afternoon going from shop to shop buying Ava articles of clothing. I hold Ava's hand as we make our way out of the third store, she looks tired and like she's ready to fall flat on her face. Ava didn't want to go shopping but I insisted so she could feel spoiled like she deserved to be. That useless first mate of hers and his family completely broke the young confident spirit I once seen inside her.
I walk around to my door to see Ava laying across the back seat sleeping soundly. I softly shut the back door and climb into the front passenger seat.
"Drive carefully. I don't want to disturb her; she did a lot today." I tell Tyler as he pulls out of our parking place.
"Oh, and Tyler don't scratch my car." I say jokingly. Tyler was the better driver out of the two of us when it came to maneuvering the streets of small towns and, with Ava in the back I didn't want to take any chances. I turn around in my seat and look at Ava, reaching back and tuck the strand of hair that had fallen across her face behind her ear and cover her with my jacket. I let out a small smile as I turn around in my seat even though my mate is in a frail state just having her makes me the happiest, I have ever been in nine years.
I look over at Tyler who is concentrated on maneuvering the busy town streets. I finally pull out my phone that has been buzzing like crazy all afternoon. There were twenty-five missed phone calls and four missed text messages from my mother telling me to call her. I shove my phone back in my pocket and punch in the set of coordinates to the Crescent Moon pack house.
"I don't care how long it takes us to get back." I say looking over a Tyler.
I lay back in my seat bringing my hands to cover my face.
Although now knowing why the Moon Goddess never granted me a second chance mate, it made me sick to think of what Ava was put through for the last nine years. She's been alone with no one to protect her, made a slave by the very people who betrayed her parents. Why had the Moon Goddess not given me any signs so I could have saved Ava's family, or at the very least prevented this from happening to Ava. She was a child for Christ sake and they enslaved her and abused her.
You know how the Moon Goddess works. But everything she does she does for a reason. Kade appears in the back of my mind. He has a habit of showing up when I needed him most and right now, I need answers. Answers to questions not even he knows the answer too.
Was it some kind of sick joke? I clench my jaw and ball my hands into fists on my lap. It makes me angry that that James even had the smallest chance of being with Ava. If Ava had actually fallen for him they would be mates and I lose out on every chance on getting Ava back in my life. He probably would have won her over if he wasn't such a dick.
"Liam you okay bro?" Tyler says breaking the tense silence. "You look like you're ready to kill someone and I don't want it to be me."
"Yeah, I'm fine just thinking about what them scum did to Ava, and how the Goddess played this as some sick twisted joke, and mating her to James of all people! I was led to believe she was dead for nine years!" I say loudly, I shut my mouth and look into the back seat to see Ava still sleeping. Good my little outburst didn't disturb her. I don't know how I am going to be able to handle myself the rest of the week. Thank God Tyler is here with me otherwise I'd have the entire Crescent Moon pack killed and disbanded.
"But all in all I'm just lucky, and in more than one way." I say rubbing the back of my head.
"Really. How so?" He asks laughing.
"Well one you kept me from killing this pack nine years ago. Two you're here to keep me from killing this stupid pack now. Three Ava rejected that moron and four I found Ava after nine years of thinking she was dead." He laughs in agreeance with me.
I've wanted nothing more than to kill this entire pack for the last number of years. I watch as the landscaping and may surroundings go from bright and colourful to slowly dead and decaying. The road to the Crescent moon pack house was full of potholes heaves and in some parts even washed out. But what can one expect when a pack has horrible Alphas who do nothing to keep their roads and infrastructure in good repair? Even the wood land around the territory was deteriorating, there was no signs of any wildlife. This is nothing like Blue Moon. There was no colour and it give me an unwelcoming feeling. One way to keep humans out I suppose. But who would ever want to join this pack with grounds that looked like this? Even the large open fields that lined each side of the driveway leading up to the house was overgrown and dead. Not even the grass looked like it was going to live much longer just looking at this territory made me depressed.
Tyler came to a stop in front of the pack house I can hear shouting coming from inside. I make my way to the back of the car and carefully lift Ava from the seat into my arms. As we enter the pack house, I can see James and Luther shouting back and forth before turning their attention to the sleeping Ava in my arms. Luther turns and approaches me with angry looking eyes and tries to rip Ava from my arms, I could hear Kade laughing in the back of my mind Luther wolf, or no wolf would be no match against Kade.
"Alpha Collins. You cannot be interfering with my pack Omegas duties by taking them gallivanting cross Nova Scotia." Ava shifted herself around in my arms as I pulled back from Luther.
"Luther and I will call you Luther. This is no longer your pack your no longer in charge. As I told your Alpha and Son, I happen to know Ava personally since she was nine years old, I know she belongs to another pack, one no longer with us because you disgusting people thought it'd be funny to stab your allies in the back. If it breaks every bone in my body, we will make you pay for everything you have done to her." Kade kept pushing at me to let him come out and face Luther, I probably would have let him if it weren't for the promise, I made my mother and the fact I'd be hung for treason if I do end up killing him. Because technically my treaty is still in place with Crescent Moon until the meeting or I state otherwise before the Elders. I may just pull out of this whole thing early and just tell the Elders I'm not keeping any treaty with this pack.
"Watch what you say Mr. Collins. I expect to see my Omega returned to her duties by tomorrow." Luther was becoming progressively angrier at the fact I wasn't taking his nonsense.
"Mr. Quinn. I do not like repeating myself so listen closely when I say this. My mate will not be seeing to any Omega duties. Just her being my mate puts her of higher rank then you. Being a former Alpha, you should know how important recognizing your ranks really is. Now I am taking Ava back to my room if there's any more from you or any other member of this pack. I won't hesitate to expose you." I say loud and slowly as if he was hard of hearing. Luther stood there dumbstruck unsure of what to do since I've called him on his crap. Ava and I have all the cards to have him killed and she is the living proof.
