Chapter 5 What's wrong

I I sat at the bar drinking. "Unfinished, why?" I questioned myself. "No!" I yelled. I then decided to begin my personal investigation into the case. "Shit! " it was 7:30pm. I picked up my bag and headed home, I didn't want Speer to get unnecessary worried. "I am back !" I echoed and opened the door. "Ariana! " Kira said and embraced me. "When did you come back?how was your trip?" I asked. She put her hand over her nose. "You reek of alcohol, have you being drinking again? What's this all about this time?" She asked. She sat me down as I began to stagger.

"It's nothing really, just a case I am on. It reminds me of myself "I replied"Tell me about it " She said. "Yhm, l yawned . "Good night, l need some rest, will tell you tomorrow. Love you, sweet dreams "l said and went to my room. "Sweet dreams" she echoed . I threw myself down on the stomach and fell asleep immediately . The following morning...... "Yhm ! what time is it?" I said and touched my alarm. "No, no not again! " I said and jumped out of the bed. "Good morning sis! "Speer said. "Good morning! little bro, what's that nice smell?" I asked. "Sandwiches! I made them" Kira said. I then took a bite. "Hm ! tastes good, I might take some to work" I said. "Thank God I made extra" she replied. I collected the pack from her and headed out after washing up. "Speer, let's go! " I said and he followed behind. "Get in, let me drop you off" I said and then drove off. "Speer are you ok? " I asked. "Yup !just thinking about mom and dad, I kinda miss them" he winned and a tear escaped his eye. "Me too,but they are in a better place" I replied. "We must avenge their death" he smirked. But I just kept quiet. "We are having prom this Friday and also the parent-teacher meeting. "Are you coming?" He asked. I didn't hear, I was absent minded. "Ariana! " he yelled. I jerked out of my thoughts. "What did you say? I wasn't listening " I replied. "Have it, what I said is in that palmflet , don't be late" he added and got down. "Speer! " I winned.but he gave no response and walked towards the school in a haste. "He got such bad temper". I sneered and drove off. I was still thinking about the Bob-G's case, "what is wrong? What am I missing out?" I exclaimed. Still thinking about the case, I wasn't looking at the traffic light which was red, as I saw some cars standing in a queue, I came to my senses and stepped on the brake, due to the speed at which I was driving, I bashed into another car. The owner of the car who was pretty paranoid came out of his car in a haste and banged on my side glass and order me to wined down. "What's wrong with you?" He yelled. "I am sorry.....it was...a mistake. ." I stammered. The light now became green and the cars began to move. " I am sorry ! " I Winned and drove off. At work I couldn't understand what was wrong with me today. I saw Flora, she was released today. I smiled at her but she just forced a smile. I knew she was not happy. I then went to meet Bobby. "Can I see the girl one last time?" I asked. He took a look at his watch. "Fine, I give you ten minutes "he replied. I smiled. I put on my uniform took my badge and went to see her. I met her sitting alone. "Who is picking you up?" I asked. "My mom I guess" she replied. "You don't look happy! " I added. "How can I be? I lost my dad, my best buddy ,people accuse me of being the culprit, the case is left unfinished with no evidence of me being innocent?"she paused. "How can I face my classmates, what will they say of me,they will call me a murder, no one will want to be friends with me anymore. I will be left all alone" she added and tears rolled down her cheeks . I saw she was hurt,angry, she wanted revenge, she was just like me. I really wanted to help her, but it wasn't in my power to do so, since all the senior officers like Bobby were reluctant to help . I just stood beside her as she cried. I put my hands on her shoulder and said " I promise, I will help you, no matter what it takes " I assured. She smiled brightly as if a heavy log of wood was lifted off her back. She stood up and hugged me tightly. "Thank you " she whispered "Ariana! "Bobby yelled. "Ok, I gotta go, take this card, you can contact me through this "I said and gave her my card. I then walked away. "What's it? " I questioned . "Are you free?" He asked. Yeah, kind of" I replied "Well then, why don't you join Eddie in the case?" He asked. I was reluctant at first but I decided to give it a try, although Eddie could really get on one's nerves. "I will do it!" I said. "Good! That's a relief. These are all what you need" he said and handed me some files and walked away. I went straight to meet Eddie. "Hey eddie! I'm joining you on the new case got any leads?" I asked . "Thank you Jesus, my partner is with me on this case " he teased. "Stop the jokes, now let's get serious ok" I sneered. "Girl you are always too serious c'mon!" He said. "Girl!do I look like one" I said and hit him by the shoulder . "What's the case all about? " I asked. "Looking good" he said. "Snap out of it! Answer my question now!" I ordered. "Robbery at the Bojangles doughnut store" he replied. "Let's head over there" I added and took my coat along with me. "Let's get a reservation" Eddie said. No, we didn't come for that!" I said. "What will you like to order!" The waitress asked. "Sandwiches and some scrambled eggs, I roughly had breakfast today!" Said Eddie and headed for a table. "You better come join me!" He added. " What may I do for you!" The store owner asked. "I am here to investigate about the robbery and I will like to take a look at your Cctv cameras" I said and showed her my badge. "Right this way!" She replied and carried me into the inner room. "Wait! Please rewind that part" I said . "So the criminal happened to be sitted where Eddie was and he sat there for a long time right?" I asked. "Yes! He sat there for an hour or two" she replied. "Did he pay for what he ordered?" I asked. Then Eddie came. "What's up? Got any thing yet? " he interuppted. But we gave no response. "He came to the counter and pulled out a gun " she said. "Did he shoot anyone?" I asked. "No! He didn't ,but I was so scared. He pointed the gun directly at me" she whispered. "Did you see his face?" Eddie asked. "No, he wore pretty shady sunglasses, so I couldn't really see his face" she said nervously. "Now I get it! I think the robber had no bullets that's why he didn't fire right?" I said. "A normal thief will always pull the trigger to scare the people right!" Said Eddie. "What did the thief take?" I asked. "He took all the money ,everything I had that day, he also took my credit card " she said. "Credit card?What would a thief need that for?" Eddie asked. "Did he leave anything behind?" I asked. "An old newspaper, probably in the trash can with this card" she replied and gave it to me. M was written on it. "Pee!"Eddie's walkie talkie beeped. "Report back to the station! I repeat report back to the station! " the voice ordered. "Ariana! let's go! "Eddie said. "Thanks for the info" I added and we went out.
