Chapter 8 8

Heather couldn't stop thinking about her encounter with Tristan.

He was someone from her past. Someone she buried at the back of her mind. She can't even go back to relive the memories she had with him. With her hormones raging her anxiety only grew thicker.

For the sake of being professional, Heather treated Tristan like how she would with any client. A week went by with them communicating only through email.

Lyndon followed Heather to work and at home and although she felt irritated by having him tail her around, she just went with it since he was good company and would do her chores for her. He even set up a room for him to move into but Lyndon insists he uses a unit downstairs.

She'd hear him on the phone with Sebastian who was still on a business trip. And to be honest she really missed his presence and wished she could sleep beside him again. Even if they sleep on both ends of the bed, she missed hearing him relaxing on the bed after a long day at work.

Heather was busy with the piece she was making for Tristan. It was one of her biggest work and it took her a week to conceptualize.

She settled with a woman crossing a busy street in the city. It had an abstract feel to it and the colors complimented the beige walls of the house.

The pick-up of the painting was today so Heather got up early to shower. Upon wearing her clothes she noticed that her tummy was bulging already. Finding it a bit strange since she's only nearing the end of the first trimester. Was she gaining weight? She asked herself. 'I better cut down on my carbs'

Shrugging it off she put on her dress since her pants won't fit her anymore and went to her car where Lyndon was waiting.

The drive with Lyndon was usually quiet. Lyndon would make small talks from time to time.

But today Lyndon decided to break the silence. "Sir is coming back any day now ma'am. He instructed me to help you if you need anything while he's gone."

Sebastian was acting all weird and somewhat loving the past few weeks. Back then he wouldn't even message her if she has eaten but now even though she never replied, Sebastian has been quite persistent and kept sending her loving messages.

"Great guess we can finally go to do civil affairs bureau to finalize our divorce." She replied coldly while on her phone.

After parking the car, Heather went straight to the studio where Tristan was already waiting.

"Mr. Sterling." she greeted casually.

"No need for formalities my dear Heather. It's not like we haven't been through a lot in the past." Tristan seemed to be excited to see her after 2 weeks. Heather, on the other hand, rushed to finish the painting to get rid of him.

Not minding him, Heather then lead Tristan to an empty room where the painting was sitting on an easel.

"Do you like it?" She inquired. Tristan was speechless and only stared at the painting in awe.

He only admired it for a long time, making Heather a little nervous. "You know I love everything you do" Finally breaking the silence.

"If there is nothing else, I'm gonna leave you to Donna." Heather casually said before walking to leave.

"You don't have to act like you don't know me, Heather. It's been almost a decade. Must you keep dwelling in the past?" Tristan said gripping Heather's wrist a little tight.

"I will never hurt you again." He whispered smoothly in her ears.

Pushing him away, Heather cried "Tristan please leave. I tried my best to keep things professional between the two of us. Stop testing my patience or you'll definitely hear from my lawyer." Tugging a little Heather then released his grip on her wrist with a much-needed force that wore her out. Lyndon heard the commotion and went to pick Heather up.

Feeling dizzy after her encounter with Tristan, Heather decided to go home after finishing a few work.

She didn't have anything to do so she called Nancy up to her room.

"Hey babe what's up?" Nancy asked.

Heather didn't know where to start and phased back and forth, "Tristan he-" Nancy's eyes widened upon hearing the mere name.

"That jerk!" She said through gritted teeth, clenching her fist. "I promised I'm going to kill him the next time I see him."

"He built it," Heather said squeezing her head and hair while panicking."He built the house. Everything was the same on the sketch."

Noticing Heather's manic state she reached to calm her nerves down, "Sit down, stop hurting yourself."

"I don't know what to do."

"Tristan is a psychopath and shouldn't be on the loose. Why don't you call Sebastian and ask him to help you get rid of that stalker? He'll definitely do anything to protect you and the child." Nancy suggested.

Sebastian came from a powerful family and with one order he'll be able to dispose of Tristan, "I don't want to bring Sebastian into this, I've already planned on leaving him."

"But you have to stay safe especially now that you're pregnant! Hey, wait a second. How long have you been along?" Her brows frowned in curiosity while looking at the bulge on her stomach.

"Around 11-12 weeks," Heather answered.

"You're tummy is getting big fast. You need to go shopping for maternity clothes." Heather wasn't in the mood to do so and felt extreme fatigue.

"I'll just order online it's too tiresome to go to the mall." She closed her eyes for a second when her phone suddenly rang.

"Hello?" She answered with her eyes closed.

"Dear, your brother and I just landed. We'll drop by your place tonight." The sound of Boppy's voice made Heather jolt up. She hasn't even told them she's pregnant and considering how obvious it now looked she was scared

"What?" She was panicking inside. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"Your brother's assistant sent you the flight details. Anyways we'll just be settling in and grabbing a bite then we'll go straight to you."

Heather hang up and didn't know what to do.
