Chapter 8 : What's going on

"Where did he go?" Mia asked a nurse who was passing by. But nobody really took notice of him leaving.

"We did not register him???", the doctor was angry. "Should you not have stopped him?" he pointed a finger at Mia.

"I came to find you because he woke up. I did not know that he would leave just like that" Mia was irritated.

"He might be somebody who might want to stay hidden."

The nurse who came with the doctor speculated.

"All the more reason why we should have registered him" the doctor glared at Mia.

There was no point staying in the hospital. She left quickly.

When he came to, there was nobody next to him. He took his IV line out, grabbed his coat and left the hospital. He did not have his phone or his wallet. He hailed a taxi and went back to office and asked Eric to pay for him. Eric was surprised for this has never happened before.

Dan was still quite early, so Ryan hadn't come in yet. He called Ryan and asked him to get his stuff from the club.

Dan was still wearing the clothes from yesterday. He went on to take a shower in his office lounge. His office room extends to a private lounge, with bed, bathroom and wardrobe. Since he is used to staying late, it is well-stocked with all that he needs.

He stayed in the shower for longer than usual. Dan was confused. What happened last night? Why does he not remember anything? He tried to replay everything that happened the previous night. He got a call from his old friend, they decided to meet at the club. All he had was one drink after which he got a call but got cut before he picked it up. He went out for a fag and the phone rang again. That's all he can remember. The next thing, him writhing in pain on the floor..somebody screaming. .putting him on a stretcher..ambulance. Thats all he remembers until he woke up in the hospital. Who called him last night? What was the girl doing in the hospital? Didn't Teddy say she worked here?

By the time he dressed and came out, Ryan was waiting for him. Ryan had been out of town for official purposes and was not back until late last night. So he did not know what had happened. But he could guess something was wrong, but knowing Dan, he did not ask anything. Instead he had gathered the CCTV footage from the club.

"Would you like to see yesterday's cctv footage?" He asked when he saw his boss coming over to the desk.

"Let's" Dan smiled. Ryan is resourceful.

Dan was surprised by the footage. In it, it clearly shows him attending a call and listening for a bit before falling onto the ground. But he doesn't remember that. The girl was the one who picked him up and sent him to the hospital. What was she doing there right at that moment? How is she involved in all this?
