Chapter 7 : Hospital

What was that?

You would think all those horror movies would knock some sense into you to never follow a noise to investigate what it's about. But no! Though startled, Mia switched on her mobile flashlight and followed the noise. She almost screamed when she saw a man lying on the floor writhing in pain. She immediately phoned 911 for an ambulance. It took a bit of convincing since Mia did not know what had happened to the guy and it was Friday night. So many prank calls. Luckily the ambulance arrived in a few minutes and took her along with the guy. once in the ambulance, she finally saw the guy's face. It looked familiar but she could not remember where. since she did not who he was, they frisked him to try and find an id. There wasn't any, nor did he have a phone on him. It probably was there in the alley. They never searched. All they got from him was a lighter.

Once in the hospital they sedated him. He finally looked peaceful. Oh wait! That's Teddy's brother isn't it? Well she did not quite clearly see his face that day, but he looks quite similar. He is really handsome. He could give the film stars a run for their money.

She decided to stay till he woke up and sat next to his bed. She fell asleep soon. She was woken up by the bed shaking. She looked up to see him still sleeping, but sweting and trembling. Looks like he is having a nightmare. He clasps onto her hand tightly and that seemed to calm him down, so she didn't free herself. She continues to hold his hand as she drifts into sleep as well.

Dan woke up a start. Its the same nightmare, the same dark room, the bloodied hand. It takes him a bit to realise where he was. In the hospital?

He was in club x to meet his old friend Gary Olls. He came out for a smoke. Something happened and he was on the floor struggling. He remembers somebody screaming, people picking him up. Thats all. But he cannot remember what caused him to be in pain. This angers him and he bangs his hand on the bed but realized his hand is being held by a woman.

"Ah!" Mia lets out a cry as somebody bangs her hand against the bed.

"Oh! You are awake?" She sees that he looks frustrated.

"Who are you?" And why were you holding my hand?

"I am Mia. I was the one who called the ambulance. You were on lying on the street and looked hurt. So how are you feeling?"

"The hand?"

"Your hand hurts?"

"Why were we holding hands?"

Rude!!!Did he jus ignore my question?

"You seemed to be having a nightmare, so I held you hand"

"Do you know me?"

"Teddy's brother right?"

"Oh ! So you know my brother!" Dan smirked.

"Not really. I met him couple of times. You were there too remember ? At the office? "

"...?"

"I made you brother apologise! Remember?"

'Oh that! Well I do not remember the girl.' Dan thought.

When he did not reply, "Let me call the doctor".

"No need. I am fine." Dan got out of the bed too quickly and felt a bit dizzy. Mia quickly came forward and grabbed him by the waist and he slumped onto her. He was too heavy for her. With difficulty she put him back on the bed and went to find a doctor.

It took hardly a minute or two for Dan to wake up. He was just a bit light headed. Seeing the girl was nowhere around he felt relieved. He pulled the IV line out, got his coat and left the hospital.

By the time Mia brought the doctor, he was gone.
