Chapter 5 : how did you know

"How did you know?"

"Ah! I met Lisa on the way. She said your interview was cancelled, but I never asked which one."

'Yeah. The afternoon one. I tried calling you but could not get through."

"Well, you know how the network on campus is. Anyways, shall we have dinner together to celebrate?"

"Yes," Mia just couldn't stop smiling.

They went to an Italian restaurant, Nathan's favorite. This is a place they frequent, so it did not take long to place an order.

"So how was the interview?"

"It was better than the previous one, but since it was Andersons I never expected I would get through, you know? After all, it is much bigger than the Masons, and they already rejected me."

"Well anyways, you got through and that's what matters!" Nathan extended his arm and squeezed Mia's palms lovingly. She could not help but blush. They have been together since the second year of college but she still can't help but blush and feel nervous at his expression of love.

"Did you decide when you are planning to go home?"

"Yeah! I was planning for the weekend. I wanted to wait till you get your interview results, but now that it's all good I was thinking maybe tomorrow!"

"Tomorrow? So soon?" Mia's voice was almost inaudible.

"The earliest I go, the sooner I come back!" Nathan extended his arm to caress her face.

She placed her hands around his."Ok. Come back soon!"

"I will!"

The food came just in time, and Mia released her arms in embarrassment.

After dinner, Nathan dropped Mia back to her dorm. Lisa was already asleep by the time she got back.

The next morning Mia was woken up by the ringing of her phone. It was Nathan, to say goodbye. He was leaving earlier than he mentioned. She felt sad that she could not say goodbye in person.

"Hey, congrats! I need a party alright" Lisa came and hugged Mia when she saw that Mia was awake.

"Thanks. Let me join first. I'll spend the first paycheck on you!How about that?"

"You promised! Don't tell me later that you want some for Nathan" She patted Mia and went to take a bath. Mia took a little longer to get dressed today than usual. She had just the one interview suite and that she wore the previous day . And all she ever owned were jeans. She borrowed a beige skirt from Lisa and accompanied it with a plain black blouse. Just a little makeup and hair left open but neatly set. After they both got ready, Mia went to Andersons.

Anderson is a multinational company, and has offices all over the world with its head office in New York. Beginning with textiles, they have expanded to jewelry, interior designing, event management. They own many malls in the city. They are the favorite choice of celebrities and top business leaders for wedding planning and parties. There are rumours that they are moving into restaurant business as well. Their youngest, a first-class chef is opening a restaurant here in this city. They have roped in one of the top actresses as their brand ambassador.

Mia is joining the design department as an apprentice. It was her dream to have a design to her name, and this job will pave way.

Just as she was entering the revolving doors, she was knocked down by someone rushing in from behind. She fell down on her knee and that hurts.

'What an Ass!!' She thought as she watched the person walk away not bothering to even turn around or apologize. He was dressed in a tracksuit and hoodie, with headphones on. He walked ahead and said something to the reception staff before sitting down on the sofa with his back to her.

"Really?" Mia was fuming. She walked over in quick strides and removed his headphones with force.

"Should you not be apologizing for what you did?"

She demanded.

"What the hell?" he quickly stood up and turned around. Both of them looked at each other surprised.
