Chapter 6 : Teddy

"You?!!!"

Mia could not believe her eyes. It's the brat from yesterday.

"What are you doing here?" Teddy walked around the sofa to face her.

"I should be the one asking you that! You are clearly not old enough to start working!" Mia demanded.

"I...I..My girlfriend works here?" He stammered.

"I do not believe you, but anyways your private matter, I don't care. Should you not be apologizing to me? You knocked me over!"

"Woah! You fell on your own, don't try blaming me!"

Mia kicked his leg hard.

"Owww!! What are you doing?? " Teddy bent down to hold his leg. It was a strong kick.

"That should teach you some manners you brat!"

In all this commotion, they both did not realize that two men were approaching them.

"What's going on?" The tall man demanded.

Seeing the man , the boy quickly held onto his hand and said in a feigning voice

"Brother, look what she did to me?"

Mia was a bit taken aback by the man's presence, but that did not stop her.

"Brother? Ha! So it's not your girlfriend now?" She turned to the man and said "He pushed me and made me fall, and did not even bother apologizing. Should you not be teaching him better manners?"

Dan's secretary was taken aback. Somebody talking back so fiercely to Dan and that too after kicking his brother? Man she is going to go down! Big time!

But surprisingly Dan just looked at his brother with folded arms, he did not even bother looking at the person who was accusing. He was enjoying this too much. Teddy realized his brother wasn't planning on helping him.

"I am sorry. I should have been more careful" Teddy bowed to Mia and apologized.

"It's ok. "Then she took out a bar of chocolate from her bag and handed it to him. "I am sorry for the kick".

Did she think he was a three year old? Well clearly not the time to react, he took the chocolate silently from her. Mia patted him on the back and went ahead.

Everybody was surprised by her actions.

"Big brothers are supposed to fight for their younger ones you know!" Teddy protested.

"For that you should be worth fighting for. How much trouble have you caused in the past week alone? Do you want me to tell dad?"

"No! No!. I was just saying" Teddy pleaded. "By the way, does she not know you?"

"Maybe not"

"But she works here!"

"That doesn't mean she needs to know me. "

"Are you going to leave it at that?But she insulted you!"

'My thoughts exactly' Ryan thought.

"No, you created the opportunity! Come on! Let's go" Dan walked ahead with Ryan with Teddy following like a lost puppy.

The reception staff were too surprised by what just happened. They actually assumed that she was probably a family friend of the Andersons from the way she behaved. Little did she know, this news was going to spread like wild fire in the company.

"Hi, I am Amelia Oblisky. I am here to meet Katie from HR"

"Yes. Please wait a moment!"

Mia was then lead to Katie, where she verified all of Mia's details. They talked about the work, salary, her induction schedule etc.

"So when can you start?"

"I have couple of weeks to go before graduation. So two weeks from today, Monday 23rd?"

"Ok. We will post you appointment letter to you. Take care then"

Graduation night. Club X. This is not really where Mia wants to be, but Lisa convinced her otherwise. It's been a busy couple of weeks for Mia, with assignments and presentations. She finally quit her job at Pizza hut. She and Lisa have made plans to go shopping tomorrow. Mia needs to buy clothes for her new job. She can't go around in those teen t-shirts. So all she wanted was a good night's rest and not be dragged to this high octane graduation party. She tried her best to stay away from drinks though Lisa has not lost hope and still persuading her every now and then. She nipped out when Lisa hit the dance floor. She needed some fresh and not that sweaty smokey suffocating smell. She was never a big party lover. She preferred romantic dinners to crazy parties.

Finally it was bit cool and quiter outside. Since it wasnt too late she thought og giving Nathan a call and moved to a corner. She was startled by a moan coming from the darkness.
