Chapter 5 Move Out

"Grandmother." Sofia walked into Old Mrs. Smith's room, which was more like a Buddhist temple than a room. Old Mrs. Smith was kneeling on a futon chanting scriptures, spinning the Buddha beads in her hand. Sofia walked over and helped Old Mrs. Smith up from the futon.

"Have you packed everything?" Old Mrs. Smith was assisted to sit on the upholstered mahogany chair beside her. The cushion was made of yellow cloth. She saw that Sofia didn't say anything and sighed softly, "It seems you have to go."

"I'm sorry." Sofia stood aside with her head slightly lowered. In this family, if there was anyone who really made her unwilling to leave, it was only Old Mrs. Smith, who really loved her.

Old Mrs. Smith shook her hand and looked at Sofia kindly, "I know you've been aggrieved all these years. Nancy returned to China, and Henry did some ridiculous things. I will stand up for you."

Sofia smiled weakly and shook her head gently, "Nancy Andrew is not the only reason for the divorce. Nancy is just a trigger. Moreover, Nancy is a cinnabar mole in his heart, and it's hard for a man to forget his first love."

Seeing that Sofia wasn't sad or angry, but instead joking so calmly, Old Mrs. Smith felt sorry for her. She really felt that Sofia was much better than Nancy.

"What about William? Can you bear leaving him?" Mrs. Smith wanted to keep Sofia with her child, but she was worried that she wouldn't even be able to keep Sofia with her child.

"William is more sensible than other children of the same age, so he'll understand." As expected, Sofia didn't have any hesitation because of the child, which inevitably made Old Mrs. Smith feel lost. Sofia squatted down in front of Old Mrs. Smith and held her hand holding the Buddha beads and said softly, "Grandmother, I'm leaving. Take good care of yourself please."

Old Mrs. Smith kindly touched Sofia's head and said, "You too, take good care of yourself."

Sofia smiled a warm smile and got up and left Old Mrs. Smith's room. She took the luggage that was placed at the entrance out of the Smith family's gate. And behind her, Old Mrs. Smith stood in front of the window, silently watching her leave.

"Tell Miss Geller to come to my office." After the meeting, Henry whispered to Barry Ford as she walked out of the conference room.

Barry stopped his footsteps for a moment, but he quickly caught up with Henry and whispered, "Mr. Smith, Madam didn't come to the company today. She asked for leave."

"Leave? Why?" Henry stopped and looked at Barry sharply. Just after he finished speaking, he remembered that Sofia had mentioned moving out this morning, "Call her and tell her to return to the company immediately."

"Yes, Sir." Barry was a little surprised as he watched Henry leave, but he still picked up the phone to contact Sofia.

Sofia had just finished tidying up and looked at the space that belonged to her. Although it was not at all comparable to the mansion of the Smiths, she felt more comfortable and relaxed here. At this time, her phone rang. Seeing that the call was from the company, she smiled bitterly and answered it.

"Madam, this is Barry Ford. Mr. Smith is looking for you. When will you return to the company?" Barry asked politely. With so many people in the company, other than Barry, no one knew about the relationship between Sofia and Henry.

"I asked for leave already," Sofia said indifferently.

"I know, but Mr. Smith is looking for you." Barry reiterated.

"You tell him that I'm not going back to the company today, and if he has something to tell me, wait until tomorrow morning." Not giving Barry a chance to continue to say something, Sofia hung up the phone and turned it off directly. She somewhat weakly leaned on the sofa and looked at the blue sky outside the window. She became alone again, with no one to rely on and no attachments. No, she wasn't unattached. She had a son, and for the sake of her child, she would also try to live.
