Chapter 2 Becoming friends

Music buzzing everywhere, sounds of instrument everywhere and drums rolling everywhere could be heard.

In my class before the start of the day, arrangements were being made.

"Randy, over here." I can hear Samantha my best friend call me. I turned to look around only to see her with a smile on her face.

You could know that Samantha was up to no good. I walked up to Samantha.

"Good morning Samantha."

"Good morning Randy."

We greeted each other.

"What's up today, Sammie?." I asked Samantha shortening her name.

"Oh my gosh." She said with a scream that could distract everyone in the class.

"Sammie, Sammie." I call out pulling her to a corner.

After pulling her to a corner, she let out a grin and hugged me.

"Okay Sammie, you are choking me." I said when her grip on me became tight.

"Sorry Randy." Samantha says losing her grip on me.

I adjusted the collar of my shirt.

"Okay Samantha what's making you happy?." I asked Samantha who keeps blushing.

"Sammie." I called out.

Samantha looked at me then cupped my face.

"Randy do you know..." She paused and looked at her shoes with a smile on her face.

"Know what Sammie?, Tell me, I am losing my patience." I say Jolting her out of her thought.

"Michael accepted to sing the gig with me." She said smiling.

I don't know when I start screaming been happy for Samantha. My scream was interrupted by a black boy who tapped my shoulder.

"Randy, good morning." The boy says.

The boy is an half cast, his mother is from Africa while his father is from America. He has a twin sister who looks like him.

His twin sister plays the trumpet in her group while he plays the keyboard in our group although in Sozy Musical school you are been taught how to play all musical instrument.

The black boy interrupts my thought.

"Randy, I said good morning."

"Oh..., hi...., Good morning Daniel." I stammer while replying him.

Daniel probably has a crush on me or so because he usually takes a quick glance at me during his free time but as I said almost all girls in my group had a crush on Micheal which includes me.

"Are you listening to what I am saying?" Daniel ask me.

Oh damn me, I think most time.

"Oh, no probably." I said replying Daniel.

Daniel let out a smirk on his lip.

I look at him with a smile.

"At your thought again." Daniel says and I simply nod my head.

"Oh I see." Daniel says trying to hide his smile.

Samantha had left the place.

"So what were you saying?" I asked Daniel.

"Our group leader, Micheal, paired us together." He says.

"What!" I exclaim out of shock.

"I am a bad singer." I say.

Daniel smiles holding his Jaw.

"So you won't like to participate?" He asks still holding his jaw.

"No Daniel, that's not what I mean." I say trying to defend myself when his twin sister Daniella comes over.

"Danny." She taps his shoulder.

Daniel looks back to see his sister then smiles and leave with her.

"That was so close." I say to myself sighing.

I leave the class to look for Samantha.

Walking around the school felt like walking a day's journey for the school was so long.

There I can see Samantha in the football field sitted on a chair and watching Micheal play football with some guys.

I go over to have my sit beside Samantha who is lost in thought as she watch Micheal play.

I sit beside her placing my right hand on her shoulder jolting her from her thought.

"Oh Randy." Samantha jumps from where she is sitted and sits back noticing me.

"Isn't he cute?" She asks.

"He is." I reply her smiling.

Samantha smiles then returns her focus to Micheal.

"You have Micheal to yourself this period. You gonna have a nice time." I say placing my hand on her head.

Samantha keeps smiling without looking at me.

"Oh!, you are here." I hear a voice say to me then I turn back to see Daniel smiling.

"Oh Daniel you are here." I stand up to leave with Daniel.

"Bye Samantha."

"Bye Randy." Samantha replies without turning to look at me.

"Would you like to go get ice cream?" Daniel asks looking at me.

"Yes." I reply without thinking.

Almost everyone in my class knows that I love ice cream. You can bribe me into doing something just by giving me ice cream.

We kept walking along the way with Daniel's hand in his pocket.

"You like him right?" Daniel asks with sincerity.

"Who?" I stop walking and ask.

"Micheal." Daniel says.

"That's a hard question." I say.

"Answer the question."

"Yes, but it's just a crush."

Daniel holds my two hands and looks into my eyes.

"Can you see anything aside him when you are near him ?" Daniel asks but I have no answer to that question.

"Just look at me." He says and I look at him.

"Every girl in our group likes Micheal and trys to gain his attention." He pauses, "Some feel sad while some still are trying to gain his attention."

"Hmmmm." I could only say.

"Can't you see anyone apart from Micheal?"He asks.

"Daniel, I...." I am saying.

"Can't you see when anyother person likes you?" He asks and I look at him.

"What do you mean, Daniel." I ask him with curiosity.

"I like you Randy, I like you." Daniel says releasing my hands.

He turns and begins to move away.

"What about the ice cream, Daniel?" I ask and he turns to face me.

He holds my hand and takes to the mini ice cream shop in the school. He buys my favorite flavor of ice cream for me and buys meat pie for himself.

I look at him then pull him by the hand to a corner.

"I only do have a crush on Micheal, oh my gosh, I don't understand."

Daniel looks at me angrily.

I hold Daniel's hand.

Daniel is quite taller than me so I have to look up to meet with his face.

"I like you Daniel. I have always wanted to be your friend." I say to Daniel.

Daniel surprisingly looks at me.
