Chapter 5 Babysitting

Alex POV

What Brit told me felt surreal, Clair assume that everyone are nice? That sound so stupid, maybe something wrong somewhere in her brain as well. Tomorrow Mia & Sara will be coming to my house since they want to plan a surprise birthday party for Ryan, the party will be hold here in my house so Brittany and Clair can come too. They are unidentical twin they have different face but same personality. Ryan is lucky that they have different taste when it comes to their man. Major crisis avoided. Like me my twin sister are the heart of the party, they plan well and they party hard. All of our friend from the club and business associates are invited too.

Ryan is currently in Country C with his car dealer, that guy really love his car collection, well he changes his car according to his mood. He will be back tomorrow with his latesy car addition.

I glance thru our guest list and it seems that everyone is coming. Including my crazy ex girlfriend Phoebe, she and Mia is some sort of business acquaintance. I have told Mia to stop contacting her but she claimed that Phoebe initiate to contact her first, and since she will be coming I am positive that she will try to get into my pants.

I call my maid to confirm whats on the menu since Clair will be coming, both Brit and Mateo been reminding me to ensure Clair menu friendly is serve as well. This is her first party after all and I am forced to be her date to look after her. I am not supposed to be babysitting some sick girl on my best friend birthday party such a co**blocker. She is already 21 years old for f*** sake..

Clair POV

Tonight is the party night, my very first party ever although I know I am not allowed to drink alcohol to be there the experience alone will be priceless. I am so excited!

Brit told me that she will be with Mateo the whole night and Alex will be my date for the night. Alex seems like a nice guy, yes I know tabloid branded him as a playboy, a heartbreaker but you never know a person until you really know their story. So I will give him the benefit of the doubt. I am sorry for him since he need to be my date for the night. Yeah who would want to be a sick girl date so he must be a nice guy to agreed as my date tonight.

Brit has done my makeup and hair for me, I felt different since I dont have a need to makeup before. The dress she made for me is a short gold dress with high slit. Well I have no issue wearing such dress since she made it for me. I trust her taste because she knows me the best.

I put on my high heels, hold my clutch and went to the living hall where my besties, Lea, Mateo and Alex are waiting for me. I am so nervous to see their reaction

"So.. is it okay? " I asked nervously to Brit

She just look at me with teary eyes

"Babe.. ohh babe you look super hot! Im like proud mama. Come here twirl for me."

And I did a twirl and I hope its not awkward because the guys has yet to say anything.

"You look nice Clair." Mateo approach me and kiss my cheek. I look at Alex, he has a huge frown on his face. So I approach him slowly

" urmm..Alex are you okay? Is this dress okay for you?"

" err. yeah whatever." He replied shortly. He then approach me to kiss my cheek but lean in closer and whisper to me

"Just dont leave my sight today, since Im babysitting you today." Then he slid my hand in the crook of his arm and guide me to the party.

I am still slightly shocked by what he said just now. I realised that I am a burden for him, so he was forced to be my date, and here Im thinking he's a willing victim.

As we approach the venue of the party the dj was playing the music guest are dancing swaying their body to the music, but suddenly I can see all eyes are on me and Alex. Perhaps because I am new to their circle. So they are not used to see me right.

Then I heard a clap from a lady in red dress and she is making her way to us. I have never seen her before but definitely does not welcome me here. I am try to release my hand from the crook of Alex arm but hold my waist tightly instead. I look at Alex but he didnt even look back at me. His eyes definitely on the lady in the red dress.

"Hello love.." she put her hand around alex's neck and kiss his lip, but no respond from Alex. I am stunned at her boldness. She kissed a guy that holding another woman in front of everyone.

There's a tinge of hurt in my heart, but who am I to feel so since Alex and me is nothing to each other. The lady release her hand from Alex's neck amd glare at me.

"My my.. and who do we have here? A little stray cat, a slut."

"Stop it Phoebe, please show some respect to her, she's my date for the night. Her name is Clair, Clair Johnson." I heard a loud gasp from people around me when the heard my name.

Phoebe seems a little taken back

"Johnson as in the Johnson Group? So she is the heiress and the chairman?" She is almost yelling when she blurted the fact that I am the chairman. Suddenly there seem to be a crowd around us trying to introduce themselve to me pushing Phoebe away from us. I dont really know what to do, this is my first time encountering such situation ,I just flash a smile and nodded to them. Alex seems to find my discomfort, he lean down to me and kiss my forehead and said "dont worry, I will handle them for you Clair." The way he said it immediately envelop me with feeling of being protected like how daddy used to gave me.

"Tonight is about the birthday boy guys, please refrain from any business talk, and if you want to do any business you can look for Johnson's Group CEO Brittany Sanders instead. Ms Clair and I would like to enjoy the party." He had a deep voice that screamed his masculinity and with that the crowd has dispersed, I mouthed thank you to Alex, he just smile back at me. His eyes seems so kind. He had this bristly eyebrows a sea rover-blue eyes that is so mesmerising.He had defined cheekbones and a concrete jaw. When he hugged my waist I can smell an earthy scent swirled around him. Its intoxicating, I think I like him a little and I know Im not suppose to. I dont dare to start loving anyone, I know its not wrong to have a crush, but what if I start to get hope. I saw how daddy cried when he missed mom, it hurts and I dont want a man to cry over me the way daddy did. I dont want my love have to worry about me passing out or trying getting me treated. Love is something to cherish, creating good memories but loving me is nothing but responsibility.

The party is nice, they serve me a non alcoholic drink, I can see Brit dancing with Mateo and she is laughing over something that he said. I am currently standing beside Alex, he look a little restrained, well he asked me to dance but I refused him just now. So we are standing beside each other awkwardly.

"So.. urmm this is how a party like right, fancy" I trying to start a conversation with Alex.

"Yeah." Short. Thats it. God what else should I say to him. Give me a sign, this is so awkward.

"I know you're force to be date date tonight, lets face it I may be the worse person for you to accompany. What they say a social retard."

He look at me and he raise his eyebrow.

"You're not social retard, you are just new to this and I am new to you, I mean someone like you" he said running his hand through his hair.

"If you say so." I blushed and pressed my lips together. "Urmm then can I be excuse, I would like to freshen up."

I excuse myself from Alex, I would want him to enjoy himself at the party. This experience is already good enough for me. So I walk aimlessly throughout the crowd and found myself a seat at the corner of the hall. I scanned through and I can see Alex engaged in a conversation with Ryan, Mia and few guys. I released my maid and bodyguard early today because of the party, this is a gated community so nothing to be worry of. Kara and Lea both out for dinner, perhaps only Sophia or Janet at home, but they should be at their living quarters right at the back of the mansion. Feeling a little alone I decided I should go back and get some rest. So I texted Ryan and Brit telling them Im heading home first. So once I reached home I went straight to my room and started to remove my accessories and makeup. A sudden knock at my door stop me. It must be Brit I said to myself, little did I know a stranger stand right in front of me when I open the door. He pushed me inside and invite himself and lock the door. When he pushed me I was not able to balance myself that back hit the edge of my dreasing table. "Ahh.." i cry out feeling the pain stabbing my back, started to feel nervous.

"Hi..ba..by doll". The guy said walking to me. I saw his bloodshot eyes and his speech slurred, he must be drunk from the party.

"Who.. are you? Are you lost?"

"Come on baby, drop the act let have some fun here." He grab my arm trying to pull me to him grinning. I resisted and I push him back and he stumble a little. I climb on my feet and start to run at the door but he's faster than me.He grab a fist of my hair and dragged me to bed start. I started to beat him but he's too strong. He put his palm circled around my neck and tighten his grip.It hurts so much, my hearts beating so fast, I fear for myself for something I never experience to be taken away from me by force. I know myself I am on the verge of fainting since I cannot breathe. He teared the dress Im wearing exposing part of my chest but I cant surrender not yet, I gather what left of my strength and knee him between his leg. I did it right since he loosen his grip. I quickly push his weight off me and run out of my room. Tears has been rolling off my face but I didnt make any sound. I reach the stairs and i decend as fast as I could. I dont know if I can make it since my vision start to blur but suddenly I heard the main door open. I saw my best friend coming in smiling at Mateo beside her. They didnt notice me yet and I heard foot step behind me, that guy must be coming after me as well.

"Britt!...help me" I screamed and that is the last thing I remembered before my vision turns completely dark. I fainted and felt my body rolled off the stairs.
