Chapter 4 Becoming friend

Clair POV

It has been a week since I settle down at the new house, everything is perfect, my live-in nurse Kara has becoming a good friend to Lea. They are almost bestfriend. Brit basically hired 10 maids and I am having trouble to remember each of their name. But I have gotten close to Sophia and Janet, they basically prepare my meal and I am keen to learn more about cooking with them. Now that daddy is not around I can try pursue my dream to be a cook or pastry chef. I have a dream of cooking for people maybe opening a small bakery. I love cooking and baking, I specifically love to see people enjoy my food as for now only Brit, Andrea and Lea has tasted my food and they love it. But I want some stranger to try my food, to give their genuine review not because they love me. Hence, since today Brit and Lea went out I have decided that will make summer berry tart for my employee in this house to enjoy. Maybe I can get a really genuine feedback from them.

"Hi Janet and Sophia good morning!" I greeted them happily. I am overjoyed already imagine of them trying my baked goods later.

"Good morning Clair" sophia and Janet both replied. They clearly a little confused seeing how energetic and happy I was.

"Whats the occasion today?" Janet asked me smiling.

"Well well I am thinking of making summer berries tart today. Can you lend me a hand please?" I replied acting cute to them.

"You craved for it is it, then I will make it for you just wait upstairs and we will bring them once its ready" Sophia said to me smiling.

" Uh uh let me be the star today please??"

I am half begging acting like a child holding Sophia's arm.

"But Clair dear, umm we do not wish you to get tired"

Janet retorts and she looks worried as everyone else, yes they are paid a hefty sum to look after me but they also know how weak or fragile I am.

"I promised to stop if I get tired, how about i prep the berries and cream and you help with the pastries?" I tried to bargain again.

They look at each other before Janet came over and hold my hand.

"You promised if you get tired you let us know?"

I vigorously nod like a little child feeling happy they let me cook.

It has been an hour since start prepping all my maids and bodyguard even Kara are currently in the kitchen. They basically look at me like a hawk like a little glass doll sitting at the edge of the table that can tumble and break anytime. I just let a soft chuckles.

"Guys stop starring umm.. if you really wish to stay here take a seat, enjoy watching my pretense cooking show please ?"

I can hear everyone release their breath that they have been holding. They really grab a chair and sit in front of me, Sophia and Janet. Some of the maid basically attempt to help as well and I am so happy that we work well together.

After few hour of baking my summer berries tarts are ready to eat so my employee start to leave one by one since the show are over.

I clear my throats, getting their attention back.

"Hmmph what kind of cooking show is this? Audience need to taste only then I can know if I can have my next cooking show schedule right? Come and take a bite. Well take couple of bites. I made enough to feed all of us. Everyone were smiling and laughing eagerly when they come forward and taste the tart

One of my bodyguard Eugene, he is bulky guy after the first bite he moaned and screamed delicious. Everybody gave a good feedback they are so happy and I get compliment after comoliment, I basically prepared for 5 dozens of tarts. I am a little tired actually but I dont wish to show to them so I just take a sit and drank some water. Kara seem to notice my face has turned a little pale so she quickly come over to assist me, luckily she help me on time. I do not wish to scare my employee with my fainting episode. I want to gain their trust and becoming friend with them.

Alex POV

I am working from home today since I dont feel really good after my drinking session with one of my business partner yesterday. As I walk around my lawn I look over to my neighbour house but it seems a little bit too empty. For a mansion with almost 20 people as their emoloyee, I dont even see any gardener,maid or any of Clair bodyguard at their post outside. So I walk to the mansion, as I am also the owner of the property I know the layout well. And this house are mostly glass so I can see everything that happen inside.

As I walk, I hear a faint laugh, Clair was asking her employee to take a seat to watch her cooking. She then started to l bake while they watch, I dont know how long I have been standing outside the mansion looking at them. She is so lively, she is kind to her employee, she cook for them and treated them like a friend not boss. But kind is a weakness. I hate it so much. But her smile....

made my heart flutters but I am definitely ignoring this.

She is not my the kind of girl that I want to associate with

As I turn around to leave I can see Brit and Lea walk in towards me happily.

"Hey Alex why are you here?" Brittany asked me

I just look at her basically trying to rack my mind to find any excuse as to why zi am caught tresspassing on my own property.

"Uhmm well its seems that the house is a little bit empty so I was just checking whats the occasion." I just blurted whatever on my mind

"Yeah they are all in the kitchen, Kara told me Clair is baking summer berries tart. Would you like to come in and have a taste, she is a great chef I may say. She is self taught " Lea explain

"Self taugh?" I asked, a little puzzle I may say, she has the wealth to be properly trained but she is self taught?

"Yes, Derek umm her late father is super protective she was forbid to do anything, she was not even allowed to go out of the house her whole life she was living like princess trapped in her modern castle."

Brit tries to explain to, well yeah that is super weird.

" so no boyfriend, no job, no any experience, no other friend, no travel holiday any sort of party?" I asked dumbfounded

"Nope, we are her only friend, her maids are her other family. She dont even have any survival skill, thats why she has me to manage Johnson Group and her bodyguard to help her in case of emergency. She assume that everyone are as kind as the people she has met." Lea added.

I dont even know what to think or feel. I suddenly felt responsible to look after her or atleast teach her how to be independent. And I loathed this feeling. I need to get out of here fast, so I bid goodbye and went back to my home.
