Chapter 2 The Scent

Julia POV

"Have you heard the new Alpha is arriving today?" - Penelope says

"Yeah I heard " - I reply to her getting myself a cup of coffee from the kitchen

"The girls were saying that he is dreamy"

"And how would they know that? He hasn't been here since before we arrived" - I tell her rolling my eyes. My sister has this need to annoy me. She's been looking for her mate since we were kids. But then she is a massive slut opening her legs to whoever wants to be there. I hope her mate is okay with her having slept with almost half of the male population of this pack.

"Because they lived here before, some of them went to school with him"

"P, please don't get us in trouble with the Alpha" - I tell her trying to convince myself more than her.

"I will try" - she says

"Good, I have to go to do the rounds" - I tell her while walking out of the kitchen.

My sister has kitchen service and I am a soldier, one of the best.

"Good morning Jules" - James says

"Good morning J" - I reply with a grin and I start running out of the house.

"Hey, wait for me" - he says while I walk towards the changing room to drop my clothes so I can change into my wolf form.

"Jules wait up" - James says and I stop looking back

"Tired already?"

"You are not funny" - he says - "I am not doing the rounds today, I'm going to town"

"Okay, I say" - I've had a crush on James since I arrived here, but he has a mate and he never looked at me that way.

"Don't be so happy" - He says nudging me

"Yeah yeah, who's doing it then?"

"Don't hate me" - he says lodging his hands apologizing

"No, I'm not doing it" - I say as I start walking again towards the locker room.

"Come on Jules, just today"

"Give me a good reason why I have to do the rounds with that piece of shit" - I ask him now crossing my arms against my chest

"Leon is back, I need to go meet him"

I give him the bird and I walk in. I finish getting naked and I hear a horrible laugh coming from the door and I feel a chill going down my spine.

"Ricky" - I say turning around to face him now crossing my arms covering. my breasts.

"Looking good Jules"

"Fuck you" - I say back and I walk out shifting into my white wolf.

"Wait for me" - I hear Ricky's mind link.

"Shift faster" - I reply to the link.

Once I see his big black Wolfe I start running towards the border of the pack land. It takes me almost one hour to get there and when I do I sit on my back legs and wait for Ricky to catch up with me. When he arrives he tries to bite my ear and I growl back at him.

"Don't fucking think about it" - I mind link him.

"You should just bite his head off" - my wolf says to me

"I wish I could" - I reply to her and we start pacing around the border.

All of a sudden I am hit by the most amazing smell of Eucalyptus and Ocean.

My wolf growls and starts following the scent. We take a good sniff but we can't figure out where it is coming from. So we follow the scent we can pick up.

We run for about one hour and then I notice I am starting in front of the packhouse.

"Let's go" - I say to my wolf and we run to the locker room and we change into human form and I grab my clothes from the locker and put it on.

I brush my hair back into a ponytail and we walk towards the house. The closer we get the stronger the scent is.

"Who do you think it is?" - My wolf asks me

"I don't know, I just hope it's not the new Alpha" - I say.

"He is not him" - my wolf barks back at me

"I know"

I open the door and I see the royal family sitting on the sofa so I greet them all bowing my head and I see James on a corner talking to his mate.

The scent is not as strong when I walk to the kitchen.

"Have you seen him?" - P asks me

"No" - I say taking a seat on the stool on the kitchen island.

"He is gorgeous - Penelope says and I don't know what got into me as I throw the stool towards her.

"what the fuck is wrong with you Jules? you could've killed me" - she barks at me

"Sorry, I, I don't know what got into me" - I say walking out of the kitchen and walking towards the back stairs to go to my room upstairs.

Once I reach my room I sniff the air and I can smell it, the next door to mine.

I put both my hands against the door and take a big sniff and that's when the door opens and I fall face planting the floor.

I roll onto my back and when I open my eyes that's when my wolf goes into frenzy - Mate - she says over and over again.

"Are you okay?" - The man that is my mate looks down at me offering me his hand so I can stand up.

I take his hand and I feel a tingling feeling up to my arm and onto my face.

"Sorry" - I say looking down feeling his Alpha aura.

"Hey, it's okay" - he says looking at me with those beautiful dark blue eyes.

Without another word, I pull my hand away and I walk to the next door opening and going inside closing it behind me.

"He is our mate, goes and gets him" - My wolf says

"No" - I tell her

"He won't hurt us" - My wolf says

"How can you be so sure?"

"He is our mate"

"I don't need a mate" - I bark at her not sure if what I am saying is the truth.

The fact is that I never wanted a mate. But on my old pack I had a boyfriend, he was the pack's stronger fighter, and he was always saying that when I was to become of age we would become mates. But someday I was coming back from school and he was sucking faces with a blonde. My heart broke and then he said she was his mate and I was just an insignificant she-wolf. That's when I decided I was going to be the best fighter ever seen.
